The Dark Knight Rises Why I think Rises will be better than TDK

Yep, I completely agree. I've "accepted" the title but I think the "epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend" is tacky, marketing BS. The story, themes, and the fact that it's a new Batman adventure can sell it self.

Whatever though, as long as the final Batman title card reads "The Dark Knight Rises" and makes sense (like Begins and The Dark Knight) and DOESN'T read, "The End" I'll be content.

Bane is more of a physicaly villain, and we all know Nolan's battle scenes aren't his main strenght. I would have liked more to have the Riddler, he would have been fantastic in Nolan's style

They could've said "Is Bane the end of the Dark Knight legend?" and it'd sounded WAAAY better.

And "The Dark Knight Rises" seriously sounds like the studio forced it to make DAMN sure everyone knew it was a sequel to their billion dollar making movie.

The Riddler would have been underwhelming for the finale.

I still do not comprehend why fans wanted the Riddler for the final film, and yet, at the same time, [they] wanted an explosive ending to the trilogy. Edward doesn't possess that style or match-up for Batman.

I think it's that the Riddler is one of the most popular Batman villains after Joker and Two-Face.

I think Riddler could have been interesting. I see an idea floating around where he was a kinda Federal Agent brought in to investigate everything that happened in TDK and becomes more and more obsessed with Batman whilst starting to become suspicious of Gordon. That could have been cool. But there would need to be another villain I think.

Think Bane was a better pick than Riddler though. It's at least someone we've never seen before. (Unless you count the blink-or-you-missed-it Bane that Schmuck-moker made)

Problem with Riddler is this. 1)where could he have possibly taken Batman that wouldn't have felt redundant. 2) Not only that but the stakes need to feel bigger than BB and TDK, if not in the grand scheme of things then more in a more personal fashion. 3) assuming you take Batman into places he hasn't been before (location wise, and skill wise) and that it feels like ***** has really really hit the fan...then it still needs to be as visually arresting and dramatically dynamic in order to justify a third film. All of these are legit questions when you have not only a major character like Heath's Joker, but someone as brilliantly portrayed and centally written as Eckhart's Harvey Dent/Two Face.

Riddler is not that choice.

He could have uncovered the truth about Harvey Dent. Or even the truth about Batman and who he is.

I'd imagine a film with Riddler being a detective cat and mouse game. Riddler having the resources of the police and government against Batman. Batman having to rely on his detective skills (which we haven't really seen yet) to figure out who the Riddler is before the Riddler finds out who Batman is.

Ehhh i dunno. I think Riddler could have worked.

My idea if Riddler was the lead villain:

Centred around a killer mystery, ala Long Halloween and Dark Victory. A killer is taking out different bad cops, leaving pinned riddles and clues on them. The thing is, the clues and riddles are written on Harvey Dent's old case files about the mob. It is bizarre for somebody appearing to be Two Face doing these crimes. In reality, the whole things just a mind game set up by the Riddler, but it takes the film a while to get to that revelation.

Riddler though? I'd rather have Bane than a villain who looks like he'd be in tears if you hit his glass jaw once.

I think it's almost 100% guaranteed Riddler will be the first villain in the rebooted Batman series.

I'm hoping for Croc though.

Really? Another psychological Cat-and-Mouse game?

Ehh, no thanks.

I am extremely happy with Bane as the villain. I've never said otherwise.

I know Im just saying for the riddler fans that Bane is the superior choice.

Riddler is a weird one, make him to quirky and prankster like and he's a "watered down joker" (as nolan said), make him too dark and horrific and you pretty much miss the mark on his character. I've always liked the whole death trap/detective mystery villain type aspect of him, but to capture that you would have to have an actual Batman detective movie, where he sits about and walks around solving riddles and using his noggin (IN HIS BATSUIT!) which is awesome in the comics...I'm not entirely convinced it would work in film though.

The whole mastermind villain who pulls the puppetstrings is totally Hugo Strange...who if you recall everyone thought Hardy was playing in the first place.

Bane really is a perfect choice though, I really love what Nolan has done with the character so far, and he's really going far in bringing him back into the mainstream consciousness.

I think Bane represents the perfect and finished product of escalation. Bane is a villain who is both a physical and psychological threat (similar to Ra's; only Bane is far more physical).

Bane can also play the puppet master as well. That's something that I don't think any of the adapatations of the character to date have captured.

Oh...well there you go. Perfect.

Far too often, adaptations (including the B:TAS and the Arkham games) get carried away with Bane's brawn, but they forget the brain that made him the big threat he was. He could mastermind intricate plots and beat the crap out of Batman with his bare hands. Yes, he broke Batman's back, but he drove him to exhaustion first, weakening him before he dealt the tremendous blow. Far too many people forgot that.

I recall knightfall fondly. I don't doubt that Bane will be nearly as methodical and cunning in TDKR.

Once a long time ago,i've read that Nolan liked BB more then TDK and Wally liked TDK more.

Intresting isnt it.So thats why i think,TDKR goes full circle with BB.
So thats why TDKR has all these BB influences.

Rises COULD top TDK. I'm not 100% certain it will, no matter what Nolan says. I don't want to higher my expectations to a supernatural level and be disappointed. Begins was good, TDK was better, TDKR will be just as good or better.

I hope they're hiding their best dialogue, because from what's been shown in the prologue, trailers, and some rumored or reported scenes, it's been disappointing me thus far.

The music so far I think is better; didn't care for TDK's soundtrack much. As time has gone by since I started following the filming of the production in May , it's been mostly positive but it's slumped a bit to the present.
