The Amazing Spider-Man Will the clocktower/train sequence ever be topped?

Spider-man 2: $200 Million budget. (Well spent, OSCAR WINNING money, mind you)
Untitled Spider-man Reboot: Estimated $80 Million budget, then adjust for inflation...

No. They won't top the train sequence with that budget, or when you compare Lizard to Doctor Octopus...It won't happen. Maybe in a sequel with a higher budget and a villain like Electro, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom....

I don't think the new film is aiming for spectacle, it is aiming for character, story and Parker's struggle in being a hero. And you'll find no complaints on my end about that...

where's it been said that this movie only has a budget of 80 mill??? Is that the official number?

Yup, the scenes in INCEPTION in the hallway kicked so much ass, because it was all done practical in a "barrel" rotating the rum. Freaken genius, and so much more effective. It's actually embarrassing that Raimi couldn't make the wall crawling scenes in spidey stand out more then they did, when you see inception. I mean, look at Cronenbergs "The Fly" way back from 1987! They did the same trick there as they did with inception, and it rocks. Certainly puts spidey to shame! If they're smart they will take the time to do something like that for the new spidey flick!

Only problem is that you can't do a rotating set fight scene for Spidey, unless he's fighting someone else with the ability to stick to walls. :csad:

Course, the Lizard can, so....:yay:

there has absolutely been no confirmation whatsoever that the budget is 80m.
if fact didn't sony reduce the budget of ghost rider so they could concentrate on spidey. again, this is a rumor.

And there is no confirmation that Lizard is the villain also....?

I just couldn't see them making this spidey flick for less then 150 mill... and the movie WILL earn it back! We all know this.

Exactly!

Budget of $80million????

Not gonna happen. It's Sony's cot damn spidey movie, it's their biggest franchise also, didn't Sony expand on Spidey's budget by extracting funds from what was supposed to be allocated to the new GR movie?

Something I hope we get is a more parkour style sequence where we see his acrobatic abilities all throughout a good chase sequence in the day time preferably. A lot harder but definitely possible with todays tech along with a smart director.

A real sense of thorough interaction with the city and less of the somewhat majestic distance that Raimi portrayed in the last film. Just like in the comics Spidey's level of interaction with people varies from writer to writer.

I think it can and hopefully will.

How? Well, I'm not directing spiderman :-p

I agree with all of this one of my least favorite things about the Raimi films was the excessive use of cgi. I agree it's needed in some places but I always felt that using some parkour free running style acrobatics maybe mixed with cgi would be amazing and very possible. Every time Spidey went cgi body double in the old trilogy it kind of took me out of the movie for a sec. Hoping there is more practical stunt work this time around. A good example was some of the fight scenes in Tron and also as has been mentioned the gravity shift scene in Inception.:woot:

Mhm i got a feel that they can top that scene. well thats 7 years old and tech is getting better. so they SHOULD can beat that. still LOVE that scene saw when i was 10 years old ..i couldnt explain to my friends that after saw that ;)

I know, totally embarrassing. In fact, I am turning red from embarrassment. I mean the invention of the swing cam is totally lame. He should have focused all of his attention on a spinning room even though Doc Ock, Goblin, Sandman, or Goblin Jr. can't stick to walls. Venom can so I guess in your opinion a 3 minute spinning hallway fight was going to make SM3 an amazing movie.

Anyone calling the camera work or VFX in any of SM movies an embarrassment has no idea what they're talking about.

Raimi and Sony Imagworks along with everyone else involved put a ton of work into all of those web slinging scenes.

Do I want to see more parkour type moves added into the new film? Yes. That doesn't all of sudden turn the previous movies into crap.

I keep seeing this more and more throughout various threads. The hate from some people is ridiculous for the Raimi films.

What was wrong with the wall crawling in SM 1/2/3? Now people are just reaching to prop up a movie they haven't even seen. Geez Luis.

Somebody has to be off their rocker to say the vfx or the Spider-Man films are an embarrassment. You can easily show the first one in theaters now and it still holds up with films that are currently out. The final swing scene of the first one.....EPIC.

Couldn't agree with you more.

When I saw that part a couple days back I had forgotten how awesome that final web slinging scene was. If there was a moment that caught the essence of the freedom Spidey must feel when doing the thing he does best that was it.

Akin to the sense of elation one received from watching Reeve's flying in Superman. IMO

That scene alone was like all of 00:30 seconds and every moment of it was amazing, even the nods that they threw in with the poses as he was swinging. So much cool stuff he did in such a short amount of time.

I'll leave those final moments of SM1 as a reminder to not spew fallacies. Enjoy Naite. :)

There wasn't enough of it.

You're kidding right? Please tell me you're just pulling my leg.

People are reaching so hard I fear that they might fall off their chair.

There wasn't enough of it.

Spider-Man 1:

-discovery of wall crawling powers
-crawled on wall during Unity Day festival
-suspended himself on ceiling
-suspended himself under balcony
-crawled on wall chasing after Uncle Ben's Killer

Spider-Man 2:

-crawled on wall during Doc Ock accident
-crawl on side and top of moving train
-stuck on wall during bank fight
-crawled wall saving Aunt May
-suspended himself in open window
-stood on the tip of a tower confronting Doc Ock
-suspended on ceiling during final battle with Dock Ock

Spider-Man 3:

-stuck to falling debris during Harry fight
-suspended himself one-handed during Spider-Man Appreciation day
-stood horizontally on wall when he first wore black suit
-crawled on wall when he discovered Sand Man

that's all I can think of at the moment, but the amount of wall crawling was adequate :cwink:

let just say Webb will try very very hard to top that~~

I mean, you're pointed to reboot a series that the fans doesn't really want you to, but still you have to. So if he doesn't do any better than Raimi's, he's so doom~

and I think he got a pretty good chance though, look at what they did to the new costume. Even as an oringinal fan, I have to say it's way better than the oringinal one, especially this one makes Peter Paker looks fitter, not the other way around in the old movies. I mean geez, Spider-Man looks really really FAT in spider-man 3!!!

Well I'm sure since he will be facing off with the Lizard, there's gonna be some pretty intense fight scenes.

You know what could've made Spidey vs Ock even more epic? Jessie's Girl plying in the background.
