If it is so, then its even better for us Wondy fans! It means she is number one overall now! Ftr i thought Homecoming was origin story, since it deals with character's high school days before he got to know lots of his love interests and villains...yes its a reboot, but also not a sequel, so i am kinda confused tbh...

Yes.

Following the origin/debut all other films following on from the origin's events and featuring the same character (and no other main characters as in BvS or Avengers) are direct sequels. A reboot is when they decide they've had enough of that continuity for whatever reason and want to start with a fresh continuity usually involving a completely new cast (BB, both SR and MoS). There they could retell the origin or tell it for the first time, but it wouldn't be an origin film for these purposes.

Wonder Woman was first introduced in BvS, but Wonder Woman is still an origin movie. TASM, BB, MoS and TIH were also origin movies(and also reboots) and so was X-Men Origins: Wolverine(even though it was not the movie that introduced Wolverine). And the sun will eventually burn out and human race will cease to exist...just saying...Besides not many movies can beat WW's debut gross, only Batman, Superman and Spider-Man have fanbase large enough to pull that off, but these movies have to be good, not like MoS, otherwise even the biggest superhero origin movies will fall short of grossing around WW's solo numbers! Its a freaking 800+ million we are talking about! Its a serious talk! Movies with bad word of mouth andas a result short legs rarely reach that far at the box office!...BvS is sole exception, but that one was a movie where Batman (which is largest known superhero like ever! Lol) takes on another third largest known superhero ever, with Wonder Woman thrown in for the hype so yeah...Oh and btw lets not forget about frnachise fatigue shall we? Yes Batman and Superman origin stories can be retold in order to qualify for that list, but will people be as interested as the first time? THAT is the question...don't forget WW is a DEBUT story, not just an origin, so lots of people were hungry for that one! You can retell as many Superman, Spider-Man or Batman stories as you want, but that doesn't mean it will have that "first time magic" of the first time seeing them on the big screen...and that often affect box office!...

I think if there is one Superhero, that can outgross WW's worldwide total as highest grossing as debut story its Black Panther! The hype is crazy for that one, so we better watch out! Oh and thats marvel, so lets not understimate that one!...Black Panther clearly has a shot, for Aquaman and Captain Marvel its a difficlt task...but Black Panther can do it! (Lets hope not, because as much as i like Black Panther as character, he just doesn't deserve to be ranked number one as highest grossing debut story! He is cool, just not THAT cool...)

Yeah. I wonder who would have won out of the origins of Batman, Spidey and Superman (which were all good films) if they had all released at the same time. The big gap from Superman and Batman makes it hard to compare with many other factors aside from inflation also affecting them.

And i never said anything about it lasting forever, eh? :| But thats not an easy thing to do regardless, not even for Black Panther, which is hyped over the moon by the entire black community! And lets not forget, that movie has to be good in order to keep grossing those additional millions, otherwise it will ultimately miss out, especially since its characters debut we are talking about!...

Wow its been long time since i posted anything here, but since everyone else are pretty damn slow i'll take responsibility and report, that according to BOM WW was updated with another 100k from japanese market today and now sits at 821 million and 746 thousand dollars, effectively surpassing original Spider-Man movie by Sam Raimi as highest grossing superhero debut story!...She is now ranked second only next to Spider-Man Homecoming as highest grossing origin story, but that one is like third reboot so yeah...Other movies aside from Homecoming, that are ranked higher than WW's solo are either team-up movies or direct solo sequels...

If i remember correctly i stop posting during very depressing period (personally for me and my own expectations for WW movie!), when each of my predictions regarding various milestones, weekly grosses etc...were failing one by one, then i stopped caring tbh...only, when WW outgrossed both Civil War and Iron Man 3 domestic numbers it returned back some of my enthusiasm! That Memorial Day expansion was depressing af with all the stuff going on around then...but after Labor Day weekend, which to my surprise shown box office increase from memorial day weekend my enthusiasm grown back again, but then...Japan happened and it fell into oblivion...I stopped posting, because i was so frustrated and annoyed, that anything i would post back then could get myself banned! After Japan happened i stopped caring tbh...because that was depressing ah...And she missed on that magic 4x multiplier by mere 400-450k! That doesn't help either! Well...at least we can now say this movie is highest grossing superhero origin story, without emphasizing on the prefix "domestic"...

I dont know about worldwide,
Me in southeast-asia know nothing about black panther.

Black panther would need captain america's active involvement to gain audience in asia.

WW is truly her solo movie, no involvement of other DC heroes (other than brief letter by bruce).

Of course Spider-Man is still the King as adjusted for inflation figures place it higher, but then these figures keep increasing each year as inflation keeps increasing.

The other thing to consider here is that number of viewers going to movies has drastically reduced due to impact of Video Streaming, Blu-Rays and Cable, which was not present earlier (During the time of Superman The Movie(1978), Batman(1989) and Spider-Man(2002)), and increasing prices of Movie Tickets, so it bit unfair to compare number of Tickets sold by movies released (39 / 28 / 15 ) years ago to movies released now.

Even if we take only Unadjusted numbers into account, so far No Other Superhero Origin movie had managed to surpass Spidey ! So, this is some achievement, as Wonder Woman did manage to do that on her own, without a re-relase for Oscars campaign or by using a double bill (WW+JL combo) figures. That's Great !
