Saw this on Memorial day, as a fan of the series I thought it was very average. One of the most average and boring plots of the whole X-Men series. They spent the majority of the movie cutting to different scenes and showing a small scene with each character. The final battle was also one of the most underwhelming. Like Apocalypse just stood there blocking attacks and didn't retaliate. The only cool thing about final battle was the Jean Grey scene. But yeah the plot of this movie definitely felt rushed to the point where it just came out as a generic bad guy wants to destroy world. I think an Age of Apocalypse adaption would have gotten far better reviews. Perhaps Apocalypse was not the best villain to introduce for the end of the trilogy. Kinberg mentioned that this movie is based on many of Apocalypses stories in the comics. I hope this was a lie because the story we got in the movie was very underwhelming and would not make me want to read Apocalypse stories in the comics. I like Singer for the most part, but I sorta always feel underwhelmed when coming out of an X-Men movie more recently. I think its time for a new vision.
