The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 1

Snyder says for Justice League they built a backlot in England, for both Gotham and Metropolis. So no more Detroit in Justice League.

Probably not going to be a lot of Gotham scenes in JL, anyway.

Can I say I love the new Bat theme?

Better than Zimmer's. But not as good as Walker's and Elfman's.

5 minutes in and what I hear is basically MoS remix.

Really? From 4:40 to 7:30 is absolutely golden as is 12:00 onwards. The former a more melancholic version and the latter the faster paced, more bombastic version of Batman's theme.

I love the fact that it's an actual, identifiable theme. Not just two notes. Thank you, Junkie XL.

At about 5:30 the tune reminded me of the Elfman theme.

I'd donate an organ just to have Kurosawa's (remember him?) reaction to the movie the night it drops.

^I thought you were talking about the director.
I remember him, he hates Marv Wolfman as a comic book writer.

I only remember him for his X-Men opinions. He loved Cyclops, so he was always complaining about how the X-Men movies treated him.

What was his hang up with Batman and Superman?

He hates Man of Steel, not a fan of Superman after Crisis on Infinite Earths (pre-crisis Superman is his favorite character), and MoS took inspiration from the Superman he doesn't care about.
He's probably not a fan of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.

He hates all modern incarnations of Superman. Thinks Superman having living parents is a sin. That the only way supes can be a man is if they are dead.

Hated John Byrne's Superman. Credits that and TDKR in destroying Superman's popularity post-80's.

Hates the 'Superman is what I do, Kent is who I am' characterization. Thinks Kent should be the disguise, Superman should be the real person.

Treasures golden age and Silver age superman. Maintains that the more powerful he is, the better he is. Contends that dumbing Superman down is, well, a dumb move.

Loves Grant Morrison and Mark Waid of the modern Superman scribes.

Honestly, he was right about a lot of things. It's with the zest and fanaticism he expressed his opinion that made him one of the most eccentric and interesting posters around.

He probably would HATE BvS. More than he hated MOS.

Actually, it's now come out that Zimmer did indeed collaborate on the new Bat-theme with Junkie. He said that while the original plan was to pass it off to Junkie, but in the end he couldn't fully let go.

I still think the theme reminds me most of Goldenthal's theme, with shades of Walker/Elfman in there too.

I did some digging in the BvS forums and read some complaints about Affleck, Gadot and even Eisenberg outshining Cavill.

So yeah, the common theme is Supes gets the shaft.

But really, even Eisenberg? lol, I feel bad for Cavill.

Guys look at this, people can have such mouth gapingly ignorant opinion on Nolan's Batman films.

Check out post number 3.

While I did love Batman Begins, Nolan didn't fully comprehend Batman. Let's face it, he turned the franchise into a dark and convoluted police story and crime drama with a veiled vigilante called The Dark Knight (very briefly they called him Batman) doing little to nothing to intimidate his opponents. Both The Joker and Bane (along with Talia Al Ghul) totally owned him, and he merely scored a victory in the end. Merely. That's not the Batman I know.

LOLz.

Well from what i've read, Cavill is the weak link (like i've been saying since the trailers dropped). That he needs to be hold back on the faces he makes. Y'all know the face im talking about.

Could it be that Cavill is just not a very good actor? I'm starting to think the guy is just very limited in range.

I used to think that. Till I watched Man From UNCLE and a couple of other films. He is a limited, but very charismatic actor. He radiates presence.

But very little of that seems to have made it to his performance as Superman. Heck, he is more like Superman in his interviews than the actual films.

It's probably a product of Snyder's direction and the writing that's holding him down. He is the right guy for the role. He just isn't being utilized correctly.

Cavill has something, i won't deny him of that, but i wouldn't say that he has range. He needs to be working with the right script and direction. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet but there's a glimmer of hope.

I think Zack gives him some bad direction sometimes. I wouldn't replace him as Superman. No way. But he's not shining as bright as he can be in this role.

Eisenberg is apparently awesome in this movie. Ill believe it when i see it. That would be a nice surprise. Im confidant in Gal.

What about Routh? He was a kid in SR, but he has buffed up significantly and has accrued more grace with age.

Routh unfortunately was not only young in general, but WAY too young to be playing the established Reeve Superman that was returning after a 5 year absence. And of course he never got a chance to grow into the role. Always felt kinda bad for him, but at least he recovered and found his niche.

I definitely think they got the casting right with Cavill, he has the right presence for the role...though I agree with shauner, in a lot of the footage we've seen he's got the same pouty, Hayden Christenen face and I'm not sure if that's the direction, the material or what. But I have hope that, given he'll be in the role for a long time, he'll get some moments to shine.
