Yeah, I think we'll get the deleted scenes on the Blu-ray and that will be that. Curious to see them though.

Remember, the BvS Ultimate Edition was announced before the movie even came out, so it's a bit of a different situation. I think even though the studio did get very involved with this movie, I actually do think Ayer was on board through it all and was probably more concerned about delivering the movie that was the most audience-pleasing version, rather than trying to protect whatever his original vision may have been.

Also, he may just be keeping his head down and playing ball because he wants to be work on this level again and/or on another SS film if this one does well enough.

fan service isn't necessarily the worst thing, especially when the followup to a statement involves "sticking to their guns whether we like it or not" which implies a complete creative misfire.

they already seem to be having continuity problems in the DCEU, so why not fix the mistakes/stuff that wasn't well received? How much worse could it get than the last two attempts?

So this is Ayer's explanation of the "damaged" tattoo:

"This is sort of my personal thing and maybe less about a larger connection. But Joker killed Robin and Batman basically smashes his teeth out and locks him up in Arkham Asylum. It’s in the asylum where Joker would have done the ‘damaged’ tattoo as a message to Batman saying, 'You’ve damaged me. I was so beautiful before and now you’ve destroyed my face.' That’s where the grill comes from".

I don’t really buy it. If he felt so “damaged”, he could’ve done something else to return his face to its former self.

If it doesn't fix the evolution of the character as it was intended by the creators then it's pure fan service and I can't stand that. Even if I don't like a movie or the characterization. It would have to make sense. So if they were to remove the damaged tat because of complaints then do it in a way where it makes sense. Going by Ayers explanation they would have to give Joker new teeth in the next one, then he gets the tat removed right after because he got his smile back. So in a batman movie or Squad sequel, Joker would get surgery done on his teeth. Otherwise you're just taking a tattoo off the forehead in such a random way only to please fans who are crying about it (I don't care for the tattoo either so I'm in that group). I think that would be pretty pathetic. That's not what making films should be about. You stick to your guns and interpretation and you create. THEN if fans like it, great. If they don't, fine. Make changes in sequels of it furthers the story along or makes sense with the character. Even if it's minor like a tattoo.

Even though I want a director's cut or the earlier cut of SS, I respect Ayer for saying "the theatrical cut is MY directors cut. That's the movie."

Oh and what are the continuity problems?

He also wouldn't make his face even worse looking by having a tattoo across the forehead announcing his face is damaged. Not that anyone even gets that's what he means. When we first saw that stupid tattoo everyone assumed he meant mentally damaged because it was on his head meaning he was crazy.

It doesn't work on any level and is beyond moronic.

The film drops the Easter egg that Harley is an accomplice in the murder of Robin, yet Joker already has the grill and Damaged tattoo in the flashback where Harley is treating him in Arkham.

Starting with Suicide Squad, I'll watch expecting the experience I have with Resident Evil movies (not counting the animated ones); something stupid I watch out of curiosity, but I know it's more $#%^ smeared all over the screen pretending to be a scripted movie than an attempt to make a story.

BvS will be the only movie pretending to be better than Paul W.S. Anderson's RE movie, but is far worse.

I find no shame admitting being a fan of Man of Steel, but Batman V Superman to me is much worse than Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
What I continue to read about Suicide Squad does not sound encouraging to me.
