Cautiously so. Been burned three times by the DCEU. Its hard to believe they won't screw up again.

BTW: You prefer BvS to Batman 89? Saw that in another thread.

Sorry tacit, thought you were talking about All Star Batman & Robin.

Haven't read the new book yet, but I did happen to see one panel with the BTAS batmobile and it looked bad, but it's JRJ and he's pretty hit and miss.

All Star Batman and Robin is insane. Batman making a young Dick Grayson eat rats!

I'm a fan of JRjr, but he's not good with DC characters at all.
He's not good with Punisher either, but that is still more tolerable looking than his Superman.

They did have that one touching moment at the grave of dick's parents, that one actually tugged at my heartstrings despite all the f****d up stuff that happened beforehand.

And that is what really killed Robin.
Joker found the corpse, and spray painted the words "Joke's on you Batman".
Then Batman decided to blame Joker for the death of a minor that he himself caused.

In the Bat solo film, we're gonna get a scene where Joker makes Batman come to terms with his own mistakes. The tables turn, and Joker comes out the hero.

And that makes Joker the hero Gotham City deserves.
Or is he the one they need?

If Ben Affleck can somehow convince me to side with Jared Leto's joker on anything over his Batman, just hand Ben all the oscars right now

Yeah. Miller has Year One and DK Returns, but after that, he basically went for shock value.

His current DK story is pretty decent. Not on DKR's level obviously but its good.

Frank Miller's run on Daredevil in the 80s is the best thing he's ever done.
I don't like Man Without Fear mini, he turned Elektra to a psycho *****.

Yeah. I think Daredevil Born Again is his magnum opus. Hopefully Netflix adapts it.

I love his Sin City novels too. But they are more of an exercise in pure style than substance.

After Fisk wanting to check Murdock files, I think that's on the way, sort of.

Finally saw SSquad. I thought it was ok and I liked it better than BvS. I thought Viola Davis and Smith carried the film. Harley was ooook? I feel like Margot was in a tough spot. Considering this is the first time the character has appeared in a live action movie, I feel like she would have been crucified had she tinkered with the character too much. At the same time, I never felt like she was Harley. She seemed like a person trying to imitate Harley. Croc was a huge waste of time. I recommend that Ayer go watch GOTG and Groot all over again to fully understand how make the strong silent type actually mean something in a movie. I thought the Grudge...er...Enchantress was an ok villain. And of course this brings me to the Acme chemically dyed white elephant in the room.....the Joker. All I ask of anyone that saw that performance is whether that portrayal could actually stand on its own 2 legs. In other words, had that character not been named the Joker, would we be discussing how powerful a performance was given or how uniquely the character was written or looked? I saw the Joker, Mr. Leto. I enjoyed watching the Joker, Mr. Leto. And you Mr. Leto, are no Joker.

You mean according to this woman. But yeah. Not sure if it's true or just a ******** chick who doesn't work at WB anymore, trying to get even by jumping on this hate bandwagon. Some things she says are true obviously but we don't know if the rest is real or made up.

Yes, my bad.

Admittedly, I still haven't watched the Wonder Woman trailer. After I watched the JL trailer I just said forget it. I've heard good things, but like you mentioned; we all thought MOS looked good too.

He pretty much lost his mind at some point in the 90's. There was always a provocateur streak in Miller going back all the way. It's why he was so effective at reimagining characters like Daredevil and Batman. But his later stuff can only work as extremely satirical takedowns of the grimdark era he inadvertently helped establish. Batman is such an ******* in DKSA and All Star that it's impossible to take seriously. The thing is though, I'm not sure that's what Miller intended.

To be fair, Strikes Again was Miller's middle finger at DC for always insisting he does a sequel to Returns. "Oh, you want a sequel? Sure, I'll give you a sequel." And then he went and made a disastrous comic.

Not gonna lie, for a long time, I resented Miller's effect on the overall Bat Franchise. He's overrated, but DKR and YO are definitely two of the Greatest Batman stories ever.

I resent him now more than ever, more so over the powerful people he has influenced in recent theatrical efforts.

That's even worse that he deliberately made a bad comic. I mean you can resent doing something all you like, but a real professional will still do his best, and think about all his fans who love his work and will go out and spend good money on this.

I blame those people over anyone else. Especially when some of them didn't even read em, just skimmed them.

So many kids are going to grow up thinking Batman is the dark but older superhero who is extremely violent.

I still think it's weird that they decided to go with a middle aged violent Bruce to be the one who represents the DCEU and their dozen + films.

It was the right move after TDK Trilogy (older bats) but it's strange to see him begin with 20 years behind him that we can't see while every other hero is starting out.
