The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 6

Well...It kind of is, my friend. This is The Joker, he should not be playing second fiddle to Harley. Not really a fan of "she is crazier than him, and more fearless!"

But if it means we see less of this "Joker" in favor of her, then I guess that's actually a good thing :hehe:

That line really pissed me off. I love Harley Quinn but stop it. Then the movie contradicts it in the same scene by having him drive off a bridge while she screams that she can't swim. More crazy and fearless huh?

Looks like Ayer is sticking around. I think WB has faith in Ayer to drop his pants and let them **** and shred his movie to death again.

Unfortunately Suicide Squad being a big box office success means they probably feel all the shredding was justified.

Yep. It's full steam ahead, with minor face-lifts to fool the audience.

Both Snyder (Justice League) and Ayer (Gotham City Sirens) have been rewarded for incompetence, when infinitely better directors have been booted off projects for less.

They are YES MEN, who just about kept their heads above water this year. If WB weren't so desperate to catch up to MARVEL, heads would have rolled by now.

If the other cut scenes were anything like the cut Joker stuff, then they did Ayer a favour.

It goes both ways. WB are highly trigger happy and their directors give them a hundred reasons to.

You don't see them meddle in Affleck, Nolan or George Miller's films.

Most of his lines were crap or forgettable. "Hunka hunka" still makes me cringe.
I think i enjoyed that line because it immediately make me think of Carrey. So at the end of the day my enjoyment of that scene might have to do with Leto doing a Carrey (Mask, Riddler style) impression.

That was a weird line.

I always kind of look at that line in one of two ways (or combination of both):

1. Harley Quinn is an idiot. She's definitely crazy and fearless, more than willing to thrust herself into a dangerous situation without necessarily being concerned for her own well-being (even as Dr. Quinzel). While some might say that The Joker is also those things, he's also smarter, more cunning and calculating, and less stupid. She's also clearly more gullible and easily controllable than The Joker, making her a more suitable member of the team in that regard.

Joker didn't necessarily drive off the bridge for kicks. Doing so allowed himself the opportunity to escape, and I'm sure he knew Batman would be too preoccupied with saving Harley to go after him.

2. In that scene, Waller is trying to "sell" the idea of this team in order to gain the support/authorization to move forward with it, so she's clearly talking up her "recruits". What better way to sell them on Harley's capabilities as a threat/weapon than to compare her to The Joker.

It's definitely dumb that they juxtaposed Waller's voiceover with the scene of Harley being driven into the river, although we do know that those scenes were re-ordered, changed, and butchered in the editing room. Still just one of plenty examples of things that don't make sense in SS. #ThanksWB

Unfortunately Suicide Squad being a big box office success means they probably feel all the shredding was justified.

That's it in a nut shell. SS made money, and at the end of the day that's all WB cares about.

Haha...oh man...that 'hunka hunka' line made me cringe as well. The whole 'fire in my loins' did as well. It was canned ham at its finest.

Gotham City Sirens might be good, or be like TMNT2: Out of the Shadows, a more expensive mild improvement that ends up earning less cash at the box office.

I didn't see the second Ninja Turtles, but i heard it was worse than the first one.

Gotham City Sirens could go either way. Maybe Ayer and Robbie zone in on what works, and the studio lets them have more control? I wouldn't say it's impossible.

Justice League has a chance to learn from the mistakes of Batman v Superman. GCS has a chance to learn from Suicide Squad. I'll give them this chance for now, but if Wonder Woman and Justice League fail in my eyes, then forget it.

It was mildly less flawed in structure, and I found it to be less entertaining with that.

You forgot an emoji at the end signifying sarcasm there right?

just something to reference once June and November roll around. Be easy on them you guys. They can be a great fan community, they wish to be. But they lack the artistic, directorial and managerial light to show the way.

I feel like many dceu fans never get past the "bargaining" stage

It feels like such a chore to support this universe.

One day it's like yay Patrick Wilson is cast in Aquaman!... ah but David Ayer is back. Sigh.

I'm not thrilled about Wilson. I can't take him seriously in anything. I like him in a lot of things, but really?

In general, or just in some movies? If you mean in general, I do not agree, because the Joker is a much, much better character IMO, with much better material to draw from in the comics. If he is taking a backseat to a character like Harley then they will have really messed up with him IMO.
In terms of movies. Joker is the better character obviously, but he's been fumbled here. Margot's Harley will be emphasised over Leto, and it has already happened.

A neat video about The Dark Knight:

Can't be posted because of cursing.

I think he would have been a decent Lex Luthor.

Yeah I don't even get excited for any news regarding the DCEU.

I love the background image on this sheet describing the phases.

Pretty neat little video essay about Zimmer from the same guy who did the follow-up piece to that video about the Marvel scores:

Overall the list is solid, but how in god's name did X-Men get ranked above the likes of X-2, DOFP, First Class, Superman, Spider-Man 1 and 2, MOTP etc.

LOL @ the bottom three. Right where they belong. Far away from the greats.
