Why bother reading Harry's reviews in the first place?

Also, AICN still exists?

Yeah, but Quint and Capone are the only ones worth reading.

Fun fact: One of the guys who used to write for AICN is one of the writers of Doctor Strange.

Ugh. I am seriously looking forward to The Lego Batman movie, but reading Harry's typical slobbering review on AICN almost counts as a strike against it to me. The guy's reviews are just so cringe-worthy, and it doesn't help that I find his opinions and the levels of praise he heaps on things to be pretty questionable in general. I'm sure I will have a blast with the movie, but Harry just kills me.

I was planning on seeing this tonight, but we got hit with a snowstorm so not sure now. Can't wait to talk about it with you guys though.

Yep, got hit with a lot of snow as well. I have a theater a few blocks from me, so I'm gonna try to be there for the first showing

Can't wait to discuss it either!

Chip, you in the NYC area? I thought you were on the west coast for some reason.

Same reason I'm still paying attention to the news on a daily basis I guess, it's just a trainwreck I can't look away from. :oldrazz:

But yeah like IATK said, Quint and Capone still write decent reviews and going there is just an old force of habit from my early movie geekin' days.

I've been all over the place lately, lived in Orange country for a few years then came back to the NYC area just recently

What would possess a man to read Harry? The guy's an intellectual dimwit.

But yeah, I am stuck at home with nowhere to go because of the damn snowstorm.

Snow is also preventing me from seeing John Wick 2 and/or Lego Batman tonight.

Well, not really preventing me but making me lazy AF.

yeah normally I would just wait

but I can't. My love for Batman outweighs my common sense at the current moment.

Kilmer looks wrong smiling in the cowl in this moment, Clooney made smiles look better.

Just got back from seeing it. Extremely fun, delightful little movie!

I have to be completely honest though, I do think the script was a tad thrown together and the movie had potential to be even better than it was with a stronger story. It does sort of lack that mind-blowing moment that takes it to the next level like the original Lego Movie had. That was only a minor disappointment though, because luckily the movie is still so jam-packed with Bat-goodness that it's a nonstop sugar rush if you're a fan. There are some laugh out loud moments for sure, but when I wasn't laughing I was still smiling. It definitely struck a perfect balance of taking the piss out of Batman and being a total love letter to him, so I really appreciated that. It felt oddly satisfying to finally have a movie that treats the entire history of the character as canon. And there's physically no way to object to a movie where Batman shreds on guitar multiple times. :funny:

Curious to hear your thoughts and impressions fam.

JL synopsis.

In the wake of Clark Kent/Superman’s (Cavill) death at the hands of Doomsday in BvS, vigilante Bruce Wayne/Batman (Affleck) reevaluates his extreme methods and begins reaching out to extraordinary heroes to assemble a team of crime-fighters to defend earth from all kinds of threats. Together with Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gadot), Batman seeks out cybernetically enhanced former college football star Vic Stone/Cyborg (Fisher), speedster Barry Allen/The Flash (Miller) and Atlantean warrior king Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Momoa). They face off against Steppenwolf (Hinds), the herald and second-in-command to alien warlord Darkseid, who is charged by Darkseid with hunting down three artefacts hidden on earth.

Is this the first synopsis in history to tell us that the villain is actually a lackey of another villain? Did the Avengers synopsis tell us Loki was just a lackey of Thanos?

Seems like that synopsis was written by the author of that article, unless I missed that the official JL synopsis had been updated.

I doubt an official synopsis would refer to the previous film as "BvS". Also, "artifacts" is misspelled in the synopsis you pasted here.

everything these days is just a set up for the next bigger thing. Not really surprising. That goes for both companies, no one in particular.

But back to Lego Batman, I may have to watch this 20 more times, so many things I want to go back and see again. Can't imagine we'll ever stop finding easter eggs.

I'm getting the fancy Best Buy exclusive bluray day one.

It's the UK way. You bloody yank!

It's a simple synopsis and I actually like it for that reason. It has more potential than BvS and sounds logical considering what went down with BvS. But in the hands of Snyder, a suspicious cast, and a suspicious screenplay...I don't know what to think. It could be another disaster, and there's no reason for that this time.

The second in command line is not the smartest move. You don't write that ahead of time unless Darkseid is a presence in tne film. It's too confident. Like "you're going to love this, and you'll be back for the sequel with the REAL villain!"

yeah I don't buy too many DVDs these days (pretty sure the last blu ray I bought was TDKR to round out the trilogy), but Lego Batman might be a must own.

Might see it in a couple of days. If not then next weekend.

I think it comes out in like a month or two down here. I don't know what the delay is.
