I read that Superman's CGI lips are like this. :lmao:

To think years later, that reverse tape edit in Batman & Robin is normal compared to what we got now.

All I want to know is if there's going to be another "Martha" moment in JL.

[BLACKOUT]Not the same thing but there's a moment where Steppenwolf says something eeeevil about there being no justice and Superman quips while punching him "I love truth. And I'm big fan of justice!"

Unless Cavill can sell the hell out of that moment...Not even Reeve was that corny in STM.

Just saw the movie. ****, it's a weird one.

Tonally, yeah, it's better. During the first fifteen minutes, in spite of awkward editing, I thought-- "Yeah, I can get on board with THIS DC Extended Universe"... What they're trying to do is obvious and cloying, but we DID demand they do it, so...

Bruce is a bit better (not as murdery at least), but also just kinda vanilla. Our look at Gotham was cool. But Affleck, you can tell in the reshoots... He doesn't care. I swear he makes the most over-the-top "OH WOWEE!" face when Superman shows up in the final battle-- one of maybe four or five bad joke-reaction-insert shots in the movie.

All the Amazons are cool. The flashback, while cool as well, just sorta happens. Neat briefly seeing a GL.

Wonder Woman's still great, some questionable moments aside.

Flash ranged from "oh, cool" to "ugh, shut up".

Aquaman's... fine? I don't know. I liked Atlantis.

Cyborg made even less of an impression than that.

Superman, I can confirm, is the best bit of the movie. But gosh, that face CG is always awkward at best and jaw-droppingly bad at worst (his first scene with the cellphone footage). Still-- He's confident, he's optimistic, he's happy, he believes in people. He'll crack a joke and have a laugh just as easily as he'll beat down a super-powered tyrant. Almost Bronze Age-esque. I need a solo movie with THIS Superman right damn NOW.

It just lurches from scene to scene, with no real set-ups or payoffs. Some parts I thought to myself "Do I really need to be watching this movie?", and other parts I had to stifle laughter with how **** just came and went out of nowhere... People just... SAY things... A scene in the greenscreencave Batcave in which the team out of the blue decide to resurrect Supes, and WW is out of the blue against it, and Bruce out of the blue shames her for walking away from mankind because of Steve, and yada yada.

Or during the final battle, where Batman tells the team to go fight stop Steppy while he draws away the Parademons in the Flying Fox... At the END of that sequence, the others save him from certain death and he says "This isn't the plan". To which Alfred replies "No. This is the TEAM." And I'm like "Oh, THAT'S what they were going for with this sequence?!" Could've been cool, instead? Mess.

I'd also like to point out an obvious reshoot where Diana's just wearing a red cloak over her outfit for one scene, not before or after. Just a weird little pointless thing. It's during one of the two unnecessary WonderBat sexual tension scenes.

Just bizarre filmmaking. As a course correction movie, and me being a Superman/DC fan, it does enough. I hope they take their lessons from it and give us some actual, cohesive movies now. As a movie in and of itself? Probably worse than BvS.

Thanks for the review, titansupes.

The film seems like a real hot mess. Definitely skipping this one.

Justice League is sounding more and more like it will belong in the same ranks as Batman Forever/Batman & Robin.

At least there's Punisher to look forward to.

Meh. I have lost all interest in watching a protagonist who thinks he solves problems with mass shootings. It hits too grimly close to home.

Yeah and I'm just not interested in that universe besides Luke Cage. Punisher has never been an interesting character to me, and I feel like Bernthal is good in smaller roles but always goes to his limited bag of tricks as an actor. The reason why I like Luke Cage is because of the music and New York hip-hop feel that I grew up with. It's not great but it's fun for me.

The whole thing with Punisher is that he's not a good person. Like, at all. I hope the show doesn't reel away from portraying that. It can't just be "badass kills bad guys" and be enough. They have to get into the moral depravity of Frank Castle.

Jake Gyllenhaal might be the next man to don the cape and the cowl. Holy cow, that's awesome.

That would be the best news since Bale's casting. Jake is my favorite actor at the moment.

Of course, some people are too concerned he doesn't look too much like Bruce Wayne. After Michael Keaton and Heath Ledger, thought people would wise up a bit more.

They're dummies. These are the purists that don't know anything about acting range. I would prefer a more interesting director over Reeves if Jake was in the role. But I do like Reeves. He's not an auteur, but he can do great things with better scripts and concepts.

Totally fine with Gyllenhaal if that’s what reeves wants. His commitment to roles is so impressive, Bale levels.

Was never the biggest Jake as Batman guy....HOWEVER, given that he's aged a bit and is in the best shape of his career, I'm definitely more interested now than I was back during the Begins days.

I could probably more easily picture Armie Hammer being a younger version of Batfleck, but I'd be more interested in Jake than Armie. Not that I don't think Hammer would be able to do it well, but Jake does have a way of getting you to empathize with him as a viewer. Very emotive eyes, would probably be great in the cowl.

If this is legit, and Jake ends up turning it down, I wonder if Reeves might also consider Wes Bentley if he's looking for that 'type'. Though I think Jake is a better actor and choice. Should be interesting to see what happens.

I'd also still be cool with a total unknown coming out of nowhere. It's worked great for Star Wars with Daisy Ridley.

I really would avoid Hammer. Just don't think he's a great actor.

But I suppose you never know until they are in the suit.

Back in the Begins era, Jake was more of a Peter Parker type and I wasn't a big fan of his after only really knowing about the "guy from Bubble Boy". Fast forward, he's my favorite actor on the planet and he's proven time and time again that he can handle the Joker OR Batman. Which to me, is how Bale was after American Psycho or Machinist. Both guys could play any side of Bruce Wayne.

Southpaw proved how physically committed he can be. Nightcrawler made me think of Joker immediately. Prisoners showed me he could play Nightwing or Batman when it comes to the warm but obsessive detective/crimefighter that just won't quit. Very nuanced performance, like he was trying to make up for something that went wrong in his past. Enemy was brilliant in how he managed to portray two sides of the same coin. A double role that at first (having only seen one of Villeneuve's films at the time) felt like it could be another dumb twin brother thing that we often see where the actor has to play a double role. And well Denis ad Jake proved me wrong big time. Even his small role in Okja where he's soooo cartoony, I just HATED his character in that. Nocturnal Animals showed so much vulnerability and warmth, quite emotional performance. The woosiest, nervous guy to other roles where he can be quite intimidating. I hear Stronger is another emotionally driven character.

At this point, I hope he doesn't decline based on Warner Brothers attempting to secure an actor for 4 movies, including a Justice League sequel. Cuz let's face it, Jake would have to jump from a dark psychological character and universe into a fluffy cartoon with nothing but jokes, green screen and flashy superheroes/aliens. What a difference.

At a 6pm first showing rn

People near me were talking about how much they hate RT, this is gonna be a fun time!
