Hes a Freak with Powers. Whod believe him ? Aside from Lex, Lionel & the Other Freaks ?

Well the ppl of the town of Smallville are pretty stupid. Besides they know Fotws exist....yet they just allow them to walk free...nice.

This ep started off good. Lex's line at Chloe made me laugh....

But the Maddie story really sucks, shes annoying.

Clark officially thinks Jor-El is a bastard...nice.

There have been several boring eps.

This one is getting stupid though, writing wise....

True, but I've never wished for an episode to be over before.

And is this chick related to the girl who plays Hermione in Harry Potter?

She looks like Hermione with downs syndrome. I really didnt like her. Ive seen some decent kid actors but she wasnt one of them.

youve been hit by youve been struck by a smooooooooooooooth criminal

bleah, this week another filler? Lana tells Chloe not to embarrassed her? Excuse me Lana you did that yourself last week!

Call me dispicable but I was totally rooting for Lex in this episode. First he owns Chloe, then he's able to tell Lana that they're just friends right before laying a kiss on her and basically winning her over. I think the deal here is Lana doesnt want to admit that she has feelings for Lex (thats why she keeps saying nothing could be between them), even to herself. That last scene shows she's just started to do that. I dont think it's a matter of her being vulnerable or wanting to hurt Clark at all.

Anyway I guess I'm the only one who liked the little girl and thought she did a good job. Lois was definitely annoying though. And it looks like the Clark/Chloe vs. Lex/Lana war has begun.

Ok. Review time, before I try to forget this episode.

The Pros

- Lex. End of Story. Lex was the saving grace of the episode. Him owning Chloe made me laugh.

- Lexana is real. No duplicitous plot on the part of Lana....the two are really into each other.

The Cons

- The Maddie plot. It wasnt very groundbreaking and the end was VERY cliched. The way the mother died in the opening was pretty stupid too, she stared at that mirror for such a long time before it blew up (and she knew it would). She should have ran. I also didnt like how Maddie's powers seemed stronger than her fathers in the final scene, he should have been able to take her...hes a full mutant, shes the child..2nd generation...the power shouldnt be as strong.

- Lois and Chloe both annoyed me in this episode. I honestly think Clark deserves way better than the 2 of them.

- Clark saying how awful Jor-El is... :down and the theme that you dont have to be like your biological parents. I hate how they always paint Jor-El as a bastard. Brando is spinning in his grave.

- The whole thing with the FOTW being allowed to walk free from Belle Reeve is ridiculous, especially when they know how dangerous his powers are..

Other Observations

- The direction was nothing stellar. Looked like a typical episode, though that final ending scene was a bit overdone. They made it seem like Maddie has some kind of importance in the story, like the Flash.... but who knows, maybe the SV Superman's JLA will be filled with FOTWs.

- Tom does not look anywhere close to 18. He really shouldnt be playing a teenager. I kinda wish this show was adult superman-centered from the start....or at least jumped some years ahead.

- My theory is Chloe is a closet lesbian. She doesnt seem to look gifthorses in the mouth either. Lex could have killed her so many times, especially after the last season finale.....but she still continues to try to act like shes threatening to him...plz

Overall this episode kinda sucked.

I give it 1.5 out of 5 pieces of broken glass. Hopefully next week is a vast improvement.

I expected Fragile to suck based on how WB filled its Fragile promo with footage mainly from other episodes.

I swear ,you guys here are starting to sound a little like the "FOTW racists" on Smallville. They explained in the episode that the ppl at Bell Reeve thought the guy was mentally cured. Maybe the doctors there are like Clark and try to see the good in ppl? It's obvious the guy probably faked his "goodness" and thats why he was released. The doctors cant keep him there just b/c he has powers.

I agree though about the mother just standing there before she was killed, and then Maddie somehow being more powerful than her father.

I agree on the Chloe as a lesbian thing. I know for a fact there have been numerous fans who have been picking up on this vibe since she and Lana started hanging out way back when.

I didnt imply to keep him there but at least monitor him or report it to the Govt. I doubt the US would let a man like that walk free after past trangressions, despite how much hes claimed to have changed.

There are obviously past records of him as Chloe pointed out and Maddie is in the system (because of her foster care)....so if they let him go free, its obvious he would go after her.... They werent really thinking at all.

Are you kidding? I LOVED this episode! I was blown away at how many scenes Welling was actually IN, considering he had to direct the episode too. And folks, not fer nuthin', but there's two things they tell you to avoid - kids and animals. It aint easy working with either, and Welling did both on his first outing. Compound that with the amount of FX shots in this ep.... GEEZE!!! I'm stunned. Really, I am! Bravo!!

Oh, and BoyscouT, welcome back dude!!!!!!! We missed ya.
