Holy cow- thats scary but hilarious!

Can't disagree there L&C was more camp than any of the Superman movies imo. But like I said I do like that first season but its nowhere on the scale of the first 3 Chris Reeve movies, 4 however its definitely better than lol
I enjoy lois and clark a lot more than the donner films. That show is about one thing, the love triangle, and it pulls it off in an entertaining manner. Superman is campy in it but it's fun campy, not grating campy like gene hackman.

It reached 20 million viewers a weak in its prime and Teri Hatcher was the most downloaded woman in the world. A lot of people liked the show.

That lego superman is a little bit sassy. I like it.

I don't foresee any sort of nerdiness from Cavill's Clark. I fully expect a "swell ol' chum" who happens to wear glasses. Probably not veering too far off from how he usually comes off.

The stylish geek culture just reminds me of hipsters, and that's not something I would want to see with Clark at all.

I don't think he'll be that nerdy either. He just looks a bit nerdy or gawky.

He didn't defeat him, he only impeded him with a fruit roll-up....which is fine.

And if that gets you...how about fruit roll-up cape......?

Gross. gross....

Maaaaaannn, I remember I used to like Lois & Clark when I was a kid, but I guess it was just because of having some sorta Superman on tv, when I look back on it I can't believe that I liked it...and Dean Cain looks and particularly SOUNDS like a little kid...I guess I never thought of how important the voice is for the character.

Polux

Indeed. Cain just didn't have it. His Clark was decent, but his superman was awful. Just a cardboard cut-out with cheesy poses and a kiddy voice.

Yeah, that costume was never good.

The SR outfit was a porno outfit, like the ones in Batman & Robin.

I never said they didn't lol

As I said as a show about Lois Lane and Clark Kent it was fine but as a show about Superman it didn't work on that level for me. Budget, cheesy plots and Cain's uncomfortableness as Superman really brought it down as a Superman show. Have to say though his live action Clark Kent was one of the best, I still feel that Hatchers Lois is vastly overrated.

Question.

Everytime I watch MoS I'm always intrigued by the codex. Why does it look like an ancient skull? Is it meant to be the progenitor of the modern Kryptonian race?

Has this been explained in anything like the directors commentary or a prequel comic, etc?

I've thought of it as a visual metaphor for how Krypton is a dead world.

Apparently, within "the mythology", the codex is the skeletal remains of a dead kryptonian. At various times in Krypton's history different factions have fought for a piece of the skeleton, so I think this Kryptonian was a great ancestor of sorts.

Neat...never thought about that before.

That's really cool.

Beat me to it :cwink:

Although I never thought of the visual metaphor thing. Nice one

Is it really cool?

When I watched the movie I assumed that the codex was a computer shaped like a skull (explicit in the movie), and that it contained a library of DNA profiles with which one could construct future Kryptonians (my inference that I thought was logical).

If the codex is of a single kryptonian, then, ummmm... why don't they all look alike? How are there males and females?

Snyder really nailed the last days of Krypton in so many ways. The visuals of stagnation and decay, the hauntingly sad music. I actually love how Jor El dies before Lara and Kal's ship leaves well before the final implosion. It makes it feel more tragic in a way and really hammers home the point that if you know when the world is going to end, you have nothing you can do but wait.

Well to be fair we're never told how Kryptonian genes, DNA or chromosomes work.

They are after all aliens.

Too bad he ruined it by dragging it on for 10 mins more than it needed.

Maybe the codex has evolved over time. Maybe profiles have been added to it. Goyer wasn't clear on all of his mythology.

I hope the trinity reveal is true for next week. It'd be nice to get a title too.

World's Finest
Trinity
Man of Steel: Public Enemies

I actually could have done with more. I loved MoS' Krypton so much.

How cool would it be if one of the Justice League movies features The Black Mercy from FTMWHE and we see Kal's vision of living on Krypton. That's still one of the best Superman stories ever told IMO.

I liked it too, I just didn't need to watch it for 20 mins.

I think we could have done without Jor-El swimming to get the Codex.

But alternatively, I would have liked to see other things, like Zod rallying his troops and giving a good speech after they were ejected from the phantom zone.

True. The swimming scene was valuable screentime that could have been used to develop Zod more.

Not for me, if anything I'd love to have seen more Krypton.

I loved it it also mirrored (along with the music) when Clark was in the ocean later. Also I think it was necessary to set up the whole gene pool, had we just seen it later on the scout ship we may have been like WTF is that? And even with Jor El explaining what it is for me that's telling a not really showing. Seeing how the whole thing worked was amazing. Also add to that it showed you exactly what Jor El was trying to do to protect his son and preserve his race.

I'd have been down for more of that aswell mind.

I'd like to see more as well, in a completely different film.

Man of Steel 3: For The Man Who Has Everything

It would go completely against Superhero tropes and formula.

Plus. The return of Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon :woot:
