Amazing to hear people bashing Bale's performance.. I thought he did a very well.

I am one of the many who are thankful that we had Christian Bale for 3 films. A human version of the character and I thought a brilliant Bruce Wayne.

Now I am happy to see what Affleck can do in the role. Much nicer to like things than to hate :).

I never really cared for Bale as batman.
He's a gifted actor and I enjoy him in other movies, but I was never completely sold on him as Bruce or Batman.
Just not my cup of tea.

I don't think it's really that people just latch on to the new and hate on the previous like some people like to suggest.
I think you see more negative posts about Nolan's trilogy now partly because it's actually safer to say such things these days.
Back in the days when the TDK/Nolan hype was at it's full power,fanboys/Nolanites would come down on you with such rage for voicing even the smallest criticisms.
Now your can voice your opinion without having to worry about dealing with rabid nerd rage or receiving death threats.:funny:

My two cents... Bale is an amazing actor, that quite frankly was good as Batman. Notice... Good. He wasn't the best thing to ever appear on screen. He wasn't undermined totally and completely by the choice of "Bat Voice". He didn't some how by grace of his presence alone elevate the films, but neither did his performance hinder Nolan's trilogy. That's where I come down. He was good. He also was not the end all be all, and frankly, post BB I don't think the film's served the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman as well as they could have.

Some of us can strip our sleeves and show our scars and say, "these wounds I had in Nolan's day".

Batman aint King Lear, but it appears he is Henry V.

Henry V; yeah I remember that. I much prefer Henry II, then Henry IV, III and I, in that order, although somewhat paradoxically, Ivan Drago was my favourite villain.

I think it really a lot comes down to the writing. I think Bale could have been fine as a more comic-bookish Batman. But the filmmakers wanted a specific Batman that could have an arc that could be completed in three films.

It does feel good to be honest about one's opinion. Nolanites were insane.

Just because you like something doesn't mean you have to like ALL of it. Of course, to a Nolanite, you HAVE to like a film he's made..or you're lacking in intellect :P

If Ben Affleck "tops" Bale, it'll probably be more due the material he had. Which might prompt the complaints that if Bale had the same quality characterization, he'd do better ;)

Funny enough, I think Lego Batman captured the smug self-assuredness of Batman more than a lot of the movies, and that was a parody :word:

Any recent shots of Ben? The last I saw were the pictures of when he met with Matt Damon for lunch. He was looking trim then, but I'm sure he looks even better now!

For a lot of guys, myself included, your face is one of the last places you show weight loss. Good sign!

It's not gonna be a fair comparison because they're playing two different Bats. Affleck's will be a more world weary, experienced one almost akin to a younger Frank Miller type it seems. Like he's seen **** in his day, but aliens.....the ****.

Yep, he's looking the part.

Heh, he's always looked the part. He's the most Bruce Wayne/Batman actor we've gotten in live action, so far.

Pretty much. His casting never bothered me, in fact, I'm more looking forward to him in BvS than...let's say...Wonder Girl.

That neck. He looks like a linebacker.

Yeah, he might need to invest in a new wardrobe pretty soon. It looks like his clothes shrunk in the dryer or something. :hehe:

I never thought about the Batmobile being teased before the costume but it makes sense.
