BvS Ben Affleck IS Batman - - Part 17

All I care about is 1) the voice is intimidating and 2) it conveys emotion. Bale was good at those two in Begins, he had ups and downs in TDK, and he seemed to flounder in TDKR.

Conroy's voice does both very well.

The bat-voice is underated. It was great in Begins and good in Knight but was pretty laughable at times in Rises.

If they re-used it would be fine seeing as this Batman is not a completly different take.
I think your hate for TDKR is clouding your judgement. I dont see how his voice was worse in Rises than Knight. If anything, it was better in certain moments. If you dont like WHERE IS THE TRIGGER then fine. But there's a ton of moments where you hear him clear, with emotion, not even as distorted as the Dark Knight.

Ive noticed that a lot around here. People saying his voice was at its weakest in Rises. I dont understand that at all. Most of the time it's tied with Knight but there's a couple of better scenes. But Begins is still the best.

And Bale was also able to convey multiple emotions through the mask, which is important. He conveys surprise at times, sorrow at times, fatigue, exasperation, compassion, etc. He's more than just a dude hitting stuff and growling.
Well, im glad somebody has noticed these qualities.

That's what worries me with Affleck. 90 percent of the time he gives a bad or bland performance. If he does that again (i hope not), then he'll come off as a dude who looks like Bruce Wayne and Batman because of the chin but he's one-note as Batman. Maybe that works sometimes. But even as Batman an actor should be good enough to show a ton of range in the cowl.

Agreed, the voice in Rises, overall, was probably better than it was TDK.

But for the love of everything holy...let's not re-enter another discussion about Bale's voice. I agree with Phantasm. Ideally the voice should be commanding but also be able to show a range of emotions.

I wonder if we'll even get to see a lot of Bruce Wayne in this.

I have no doubt in my mind that fans will say Affleck is the best Bruce/Batman of all time once the movie comes out. This place will be flooded with those comments. I hope im proven wrong, but i dont have faith that Ben will be more than just "The perfect looking Bruce Wayne in his 40s, with the perfect jaw, wearing the best suit, with the most kick-ass fighting we've seen yet"...and that's it. Im pretty sure ill be saying "But he was boring, didn't care for his acting compared to Bale or Keaton. He was one-note". It's a negative assumption to make but it is what it is. I liked him in The Town but he has never been super charismatic or exciting to watch. Sometimes when he tries to get serious or angry he comes off like a goof because his line delivery is poor.

I really hope this isn't a case of us finally seeing the coolest looking comic book Batman but being let down by a bland performance.

He's the best Business man Bruce Wayne we got so far.
I dont think Clooney was the best anything.

I dont think he looks or acts like Bruce at all.

Clooney was still in that ol' head tilting phase of his back then. Looked like he had spondylosis.

I think you mean you can't have Bruce Wayne without Batman.

We were always on the same wavelength, Mrs.K. Way back, some hundreds of posts ago I posted a few times about how we could and need to have focus on Affleck's Bruce Wayne before we ever see the broodness and the inside track to what makes the Bat tick in this upcoming film.:up:

I hope you are proven wrong, too. In fact, I'm fairly confident you will be.

Even if he is right, some better-than-awful fight scenes and a proper Batsuit would be some kind of salve to our sorrows.

Remember how Matt Damon said something to the effect of "it's just Batman" when talking about the difficulty of playing the role?

Hope that's not Ben's approach to this character...

I do remember it and Damon is really wrong. I doubt that will be Ben's approach though, he seems to be taking the character really seriously.

Ben Affleck loves DareDevil, I'm sure he loves other comics, so I don't expect him to share the same attitude

Ben Affleck wants to be an A-list movie star of course he is going to take the role as seriously as he should take the role. But Damon is still right, Batman is not going to be the most challenging role of any actor's career and if it is that is sad.

Maybe not the most challenging role, but it won't be the really easy role he assumes

I agree. But Damon is also acting like it's nothing. Of course that's what Damon would do. He's such an overrated actor. He's fine, but he doesn't have much range at all. Of course HE would just throw on the cowl and talk with a slightly deeper Damon voice, but that's not how it should be done.

Heh, I think both Damon and Affleck are great actors.

And who cares what Damon says about Batman? Damon isn't Affleck.
