Fantastic Four reborn! - - - Part 19

I can say with complete confidence that one of the reasons that Fox didn't announce the cast before production, is that they were likely still hoping Marvel would buy the rights (prior to the deadline), to stop the clock restart. But Marvel likely knew the project was doomed, so there was no incentive to buy then, when theyll have the advantage after its release.

I really wish Fox would get hit with a hack and have some emails leaked.

Really curious about what the higher ups and producers have to say about this movie.

I bet it's not favorable.

If Fox was hit with a hack they'd have bigger concerns than the dirt about FF that would come out. Fox is a News Corporation subsidiary, and News Corporation is known to have done some questionable things. Ironically enough, some of those things involve hacking (on their part). Google News Corporation hacking scandal. Rupert Murdoch should have been locked up ages ago.

Even the plot synopsis that came out the other month wasn't a press release, it was just Fox admitting that the synopsis that had been leaked to RT was genuine (a few weeks after it had leaked).

No. It was Domasheved.

That's true, TMNT was very quiet on the promotion front, but they at least had press releases and official announcements. And no matter what we may think of the movie, it generated a nice profit, almost $500 at the box office.
Yes Turtles was indeed a bad film that the studio hid until the last minute. That movie was very not good at all, it got horrible reviews but big box office. I suppose Fox is hoping the same thing happens with FF. We will see.

FF isn't a cultural phenomenon like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it doesn't have a popular cartoon helping its box office so nearly 500 million worldwide seems like a stretch but anything is possible I suppose.

I already gave you an example that Fox has a slow burn marketing for their non animated films... Spy which is coming out this May only got a trailer release this week.

And Feb trailer release of FF should make up for the lack of early releases of production still, poster, logo and set photos.

So you honestly believe that this production is going smoothly and as planned? The complete lack of updates or news of any kind from the studio does not concern you at all?

When Justin Chatwin was cast as Goku Fox felt the need to issue a press release. When the cast of this movie was announced it was through third parties and vague acknowledgements in interviews. Quit insinuating that Fox markets their films this way. That's incorrect.

Not sure if any of you have seen this, but here's an article that talks about the Corman version and compares it to this reboot. At this point it's obvious to everyone this is a rights grab, but this article really drives it home. I like how it mentions that Trank went out of his way to tell Mara that she shouldn't do any research on her character or read any comics, since none of the movie would actually be based on any FF comic. How encouraging!

Truly a headdesk moment.

THIS!

I tell people all the time...I don't care if its hokey effects or supremely low budgeted...the 1994 F4 is still my favorite version of the movie (aside from cartoons) as its captured the spirit and look of the comics....the origin is pretty spot...their look...Doom is Doom...he even has 'Doom soldiers' (obviously budget is too small for Doombots)...he is the ruler of Latveria, etc. etc...if you have a chance to find a bootleg of this, do it...its so worth it!!!

It's on YouTube so no need for a bootleg:

Everyone should get together, call your friends & neighbors, stay home and watch the Corman film the day this abomination comes out. If that don't send a message,I don't know what will.:oldrazz:

"FF fans stood away in droves,as the new movie made only 3 million at the box office. Roger Corman's unreleased film however, got a surprising 44 million hits on youtube today..."

I like the way you think :)

In fact, let's have a movie marathon of Corman's FF and Story's two FF films on that day. :p

Ant-Man should still be playing. If FF looks as bad as I fear, I may make a point of putting money in Marvel's pocket that weekend.

Say what you want about Bay, but he was smart enough to change Alien Turtles and Caucasian Shredder due to fan outrage.

And yet he was perfectly okay with those awful ideas in the first place. Not going to give him any credit for changing them back, one at the 11th hour.

And the movie still turned out to suck.

Bay is a hack, ***** filmmaker. That's what I'll say about him.

And things are going the same way with this movie. Awful decisions made by hack filmmakers who think their ideas are better than ideas that have held up for decades upon decades.

This is a great idea Willie, I will be doing the same
Fox ain't getting a penny from me, I don't care how this film turns out.

I have a nice widescreen DVD edition :woot:

I like this cast and really enjoyed Chronicle. If it's better than any of the Thor films, they have a positive from me.

Edit.

FF doesn't have little kids to save it.

I refuse to have any positives about this film, but my stubbornness towards a film has never been so high.

Or a 29 year old woman on a nostalgia kick.

Yes I agree there was a huge kid audience for Ninja Turtles as well as nostalgic adults, FF doesn't have that and it probably won't have great marketing to help it along. So it kinda has to get really good reviews and word of mouth.

As bad as the Story films were they did get the core F4 team and the Silver Surfer's characters spot on, apart from Sue.

Chiklis, Evans and Gruffudd were really good as Ben, Johnny and Reed.

The majority of the bad taste for the first film was around how they handled Dr. Doom who was badly miscast with McMahon.
