That is a great story. Henry seems like a genuinely great guy.

What age would that be? Middle school means nothing to me. :)

There's no "middle school" in the UK

Uh... I went to middle school! :p

It's not like that consistently over the country, but there are a few places that have the same sort of system, and I guess Henry's schools may have been the same.

For me it went:

First School - 5-9
Middle School - 10-13
Upper School - 14-16
6th Form College - 17-18

Why don't you go see the movie in IMAX and look? :hehe:

There's no "middle school" in the UK, but Wikipedia says preparatory school is up to 11-13. He looks it there. :funny:

On Graham Norton he said that he was "Fat Cavill" and stayed the same weight from 13 to 25. He just got taller. :oldrazz: Eh, I'm about Henry's age and I knew fatter kids. But kids will make fun of you for anything.

You can see the potential there. It's kind of like how the boy actor playing Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter series grew up to be the hottest of the bunch. :awesome:

I like to say that if someone is at their hottest in middle or high school, it's aaaall downhill from there. :hehe:

Aww, a guy who likes dogs is a good guy. :yay:

And.....HI FLUFFY DOGGY!!!!!!!! :awesome:

Actually there were middle schools in the UK and judging by Henry's age he probably did go to a middle school for at least a year or two.

Cavill shows off his sculpted eight pack for a photo.

In America it is 12-14, I don't know what it is in England.
Thanks.

Longbottom looks totally different! Wow, that's amazing haha. Looks like you're right.

It gives the homely unpopular kids (like me *ahem*) hope for the future! :awesome:

Although there are some kids that are just attractive their whole lives, like Tyler Hoechlin, who can go to hell. :argh:

Henry used to be one of us!

He's got them thangs. :o

Hey where the chest hair in those workout pix? It looks like he waxed.
I think these are from the initial days of training, possibly Feb-March 2011. Notice he looks a tad soft here whereas he looks hyper-defined in the film. The shirtless scenes were filmed in October, so he had a good 6-7 months to grow his chest hair and lose all the body fat.

You are right on the mark with that. I just read the article about his training program for Man of Steel in the July issue Muscle and Fitness. For the first 2 months of his 5 month prep before shooting, Twight had Henry on a dirty bulk. Working out twice a day while eating 5,000-6,000 calories of whatever he wanted and getting 9-10 hours of sleep each night. During that period, he was just packing on as much mass as possible including fat so it makes sense that he would look soft there.

After that, they switched to clean bulk/fat loss program and cut his calories cut in half, mainly from his carb intake. Twight had him peak (bodybuilding term for maximum muscle, minimum bodyfat state that can't be maintained year round) for the first shirtless scene in October and hold it until the second one a month later.

For those Superman fans out there who are also fitness nuts, Henry's personal records during the process were:

Deadlift - 435lb (was under 300lb at start of training)
Push Press - 235lb
Back Squat - 365lb
Front Squat - 10 sets of 10 reps with 225lb

Henry built up some pretty serious strength in a short amount of time.

It's funny because this article reminded of a certain debate I had with a few posters here a couple months back about Cavill and bodybuilding training. They claimed that Cavill's training had nothing in common with bodybuilding and that it was completely different. Granted, Twight's workouts had more of a CrossFit/functional strength style to the lifts and how they were organized, but that aside, it is pretty clear now that Cavill was on a bodybuilding program for Man of Steel. Dirty bulking during the off-season to gain as much mass as possible and then cutting for a specific temporary peak is the very definition of a bodybuilding program. :oldrazz:

Henry's physique is more like a body builder.
i thought many of us didn't want superman to get that big. :D

It's not like he was as big as The Rock. :oldrazz: He still looks normal in clothes.

ha, I hope this teaches people not to dismiss all the "Fat Cavills" out there.

I can see it now...

14 year old girl: *walking up to chubby boy* "Are you going to look like Henry Cavill one day?"
Chubby 14 year old: "...... sure."
14 year old girl: "Let's go steady."
