RoboCop Reboot - Part 1

It's just hard for me to believe that Padilha who wrote and directed the Tropa De Elite movies would create something so awful. I remember Drew being completely against this even before a director was attached as he thinks Robocop is perfect (which is a sentiment I share) however I'm open towards a different vision because I think the character is timeless and has the ability to have another movie detailing his beginnings.

Drew on the other hand came with a chip on his shoulder against this so this time around I'm not too sure I'll be taking his seemingly overreaction to heart. I agree with Drew often but I think his judgement is clouded with this one.

I dunno.
Drew isn't some uptight critic who is open to something if done right.
I'll admit that Robocop is a movie that i love and is perfect. But that's because of nostalgic reasons and the SCI-FI aspect.
Also if Padilha writing thte screenplay ?

i hope they will not make fun of the old design in the context of the movie.its a good clean design.

''Oh, god... oh dear god... Robocop is a Transformer. He goes from "social mode" to "combat mode" and back. Full transformation.''

Damn. Drew hates it. I hope the script pops up soon so we can judge for ourselves.

Was just reading the hitflix spoilers I can't really see it all being true with what the director has done before and cast on this already. Though drew hasn't always been that reliable if I recall. So I rather believe this if it came from other sources like deadline/thr/variety/latino review/etc.....

I'm giving it a chance despite Drew's descriptions. It's still too early to pass judgement.

Totally cause who knows what changes are made frrom what ever draft he saw. And all the stuff folks have said about the director.

Nick Schenk, James Vanderbilt and Joshua Zetumer wrote the screenplay.

drew's description don't make sense what he says is transformers does'nt sound a thing like it

Yeah, Padilha's real talented and if he believe he could bring something new in a re-imagining of Robocop, I'm interested. Although I'd feel more secure if he himself wrote the script too, considering this is his first movie in Hollywood there's a risk he has to bend down to the executives' demands, I just hope then that the movie's quality doesn't suffer from it if that's the case.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading an interview (I think it was with Collider) where Padilha said he had rewritten portions of the script I could be misremembering.

So, someone didn't like the script? Personally I'll wait for my own opinion. :D

I still think it's weird that they changed Officer Lewis from a woman to a man. I understand that they wanted to build up the character of Murphy's wife, which is fine... but why change his partner's gender? Lewis was a great character as she was.

its very simple. even if this is the shooting script reshoots could happen. good movie or bad ............we will see in 2013.

but there is no reason to be positive based on the cast and director. Oldman and Samuel Jackson? so?

this is a big budget hollywood movie. its Padliha's first hollywood movie. end of story

I never understood how anyone can get their hands on a script, not just the team who works on the movie. Especially such a big movie. Was it always like this or it's a new trend?
Everyone should learn from Nolan.

People were raving about the Green lantern script and that movie sucked. So I'll wait til I see something on film.

Blackman regardless of differences studios get worried. A lot of studios got super scared after Battleship bombed. In fact Paramount re-organized their entire release slate. GI JOE got pushed back like a year.
Main reasons GI Joe got pushed back was to get the 3D to look better and bad audience reactions to the fact that Channing Tatum got killed off early in the film. Also with the success of 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike the studios saw him as a bigger draw so they wanted more of him in the movie.

Not saying Battleship bombing was not a part of their thinking, but not really a huge part of it.

Some of the stuff he talks about in his tweets SOUNDS AWESOME!!! I don't care. He seems to want 80's Robocop, which we will always have on dvd. Some of the stuff mentioned sounds awesome.

After Total Recall bombed, the idea of making a PG-13 remake of an R-rated movie seems even more risky now.

I just hope they recreate this scene in e new movie:

ohhhh the Nolan myth is still alive? how cute. you think that noone read Nolan's script days before production?

let me explain very fast how the world works. a blockbuster movie like Robocop and TDKR are very expensive. to bulid sets and hire people they need to know exactly what is in the movie. someone needs to budget the movie. so before filming over 50 people read the script.

Thank you for being an arrogant I-know-everything-better-than-anyone-else.

And random people tweeted about the TDKR script in early stages of the movie, right?
