there are two groups of people who work on movies. one share scripts and the others dont. but there is always someone who has the script.

Please. The Nolan praise is just not worth it.
How about Spielberg. TO date no one knows anything about Lincoln. Or even his past movies. Nobody knew a thing.
With some studios , the secrecy is very strict.

Anyway back on topic. Í wonder if Drew is going to review the script on Hitfix. I'd love to see read which things Drew has problems with.

Thank you for being an arrogant I-know-everything-better-than-anyone-else.

And random people tweeted about the TDKR script in early stages of the movie, right?

To be honest yeah, a fair few scenes were leaked before the film was even finished filming, like the end of the film regarding Bruce and Batman.

Nolan talk in the Robocop thread?

The first Robocop perfect? Not even close. It's a fantastic movie but it has many flaws.

I can't believe how much of a *****storm this guy has caused... Hes obviously biased. Any "critic" who thinks the original is "perfect" implies that any changes will be for the worse. Theres no such thing as a perfect movie, even the best movies have their flaws. I have no clue who this Drew McWeiner guy is but he sounds like a fool.
why writte a post like this if you dont know him?

first he is a human like everyone here. he is a movie fan. because of that he has all right to writte that he thinks that the movie is perfect.yes a critic should like movies form his childhood and think that they are perfect.
second . he writtes for movies for years. which means that he knows how to filter movie leaks. he knows what is legit and what not. he also knows how to read scripts and has an idea how the movie will look based on the script.

this is the same situation like in 2011 with Devin Faraci. he leaked that Bane and Talia are in TDKR.

He's one of the best critics currently working.

Anyone else have a knee-jerk reaction to people on the internet bringing "bias" up when it comes to someone's opinions on movies? I mean, really? No **** there's bias. We all have biases and tastes and pet peeves and nostalgia and on and on and on. That's not the goddamn point. It's a not film critics job to be free of bias. It's such a useless, clueless, shallow thing to say.

Actually it is their job to be un bias

Impossible. No one can be unbiased. Film criticism is about articulating one's personal reaction to a film. How can you even pretend that that isn't the most subjective of roles, inherently rooted in one's own opinions, tastes, biases, etc etc?

LOL! Really????? yeah everyone is biased but to criticize the script and say that the original is perfect, completely free of flaws, is incredibly biased. That just implies they think that every single change is for the worse.

You can't possibly defend such a mindset can you? Its pure ignorance. The original is fantastic but its far from perfect. NOTHING is perfect.

Anyways, its their job to be as unbiased as possible. He sounds like a terrible reviewer. If hes one of the best then I'm glad I don't take anything these clowns say seriously.
seriously? seriously?????????

you wrotte that he sounds like a terrible reviewer based on tweets? f... tweets? a site that only alows 140 characers?

is this some internet joke or what?is this guy for real?

Yes, of course it is! Robocop is a great film. Anyone reading that script, whose seen the original is going to bring their biases to bare. It's impossible not to. I'm sure there's movies you love that you don't see the need to be remade. If Hollywood was going to remake that movie, and you got your hands on that script, you would carry that personal attachment into your reading, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I agree with McWeeny. For what it is, Robocop is perfect. I can't imagine anything that would make it a better film. You're just getting hung up on semantics.

Wow, way to dismiss someone's entire career based on a few tweets. If you want to weigh in on his worth as a critic and be taken seriously, you could go to his blog and actually read a few of his writings.

Of course, if you do that now, you'll be taking all sorts of biases with you, and we clearly wouldn't be able to trust your assessment, because you'd be, you know, biased.

I don't take anyone whos job is to tell everyone what movies to see and not see seriously.

Read the articles posted. That is not what the best film criticism is about or for. I'm so sick of that "I don't need them to tell me what to see!" nonsense, primarily from people who have zero understanding of what these people actually do, parroted everywhere.

i'll wait for the 1st trailer to make any per-conceived judgements

as of now, i am liking the cast & director. ED-209 looks sick from that viral clip we got last month.

Based on all the solid info we have I think it's heading down the right direction.

The original film is great, but Claymation ED-209 looks sh**ty as fu** to watch now.

I love stop motion ED-209. It doesn't look real, but that doesn't bother me for a second. Special effects don't have to look real as long as they're evocative.

i think the ED209 stuff still looks good it was not clay mation it was a scale puppet animated stop motion style as what they did for robocain in 2 and ED in part 3.

I was being optimistic, based on what little there was to go off of, but "Robocop is a Transformer" and "PG-13 mode" gives me serious pause.
