RoboCop Reboot - Part 2

Love these photos. It also seems apparent to me that they may pull a Catwoman on us with the visor. It seems Robocop will be mask-less for parts of the movie and his visor may in fact slide down to cover his face (or slide out from the sides and connecting in the middle). Of course I could be wrong but I don't see an emergency happening and Robocop stopping to put his mask on lol.

You guys wanna know what the best part is? We haven't even seen an official photo of Robocop yet. Imagine what its going to look like all polished up. Without the crinkles in the rubber or poor lighting. Its going to look great.

That pretty much summaraizes the beginning of every thread on this site :woot:

I'm pretty confident it's a retractable visor. If you see the shots of Robo with the visor off from the side and back the shape seems to suggest that. I imagine that in patrol mode the face is exposed and when in battle mode the visor slams down and his gun snaps out of the leg. :)

The suit is really growing on me; I just don't understand the exposed human hand. You'd think he'd at least have a glove or something.

It was done purposely. OCP wants Robocop to be accepted by the public. So they're promoting Robocop as human, not as a robot.

Right. I'm not sure why this isn't more obvious to everyone and why it's such an issue. I was just thinking maybe when he's being the public, friendly Robocop it's more reassuring to people to be able to shake a human hand than a robotic one. He's obviously working as a walking advertisement of Omnicorp product by the big reveal sequence and the OC logo on his chest as well as something of ambassador to the public for the Detroit PD as evidenced by the badge on his chest. This was the case in the original film as well in the news broadcasts featuring Robo mingling with children. "Stay out of trouble" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYjBoRtvhu8

The hand is reinforced by the reasoning Padilha said he wanted Robocop to have his face exposed and not always obscured by the visor which was solved with the new retractable visor and making it more aesthetically pleasing than was was seen when Robocop had to unscrew his helmet before. The only issue I see with the hand is that if it's just his old flesh and blood hand it will get blown off or destroyed easily. I think it's possible that it's cybernetic underneath but sheathed in his old skin to be less threatening. If it's not and it is flesh, it will likely get destroyed at some point and then replaced with a cybernetic one.

Stunt sequence. It appears he jumps quite acrobatically into the crowd and starts shooting at a perp :) *since people on the Robocop Archive can't seem to figure this out: That's a stuntman in a stunt version of the suit/visor and that's why it doesn't look quite as good in these shots and you can see part of his nose. He's obviously only performing the actual jump off the stage.*

Ugh... I visited that site looking for info about this movie... bad idea. What a bunch of cry-babies. Most people there are a stererotype of a fanboy, it's ridiculous. And if someone says he's somewhat looking forward to this movie, that he likes something about it, he's accused of being a studio plant.:whatever:

Oh, I "get" the whole trying to promote him as human thing. But it still makes the suit look weird and complete to me.

Wasn't it said he won't die? Just get seriously injured?

Yup. He gets drugged and ¨surgically¨ shot, very badly. This is so he will be put on life support, and Omnicorp can convince Murphy's wife to allow them to augment him with the Robo bodyparts. But they deliberately go to far, and then legally acquire him as their full property.

I'm getting that vibe as well. A lot of stereotype fanboy haters. I understand to a degree that it's obviously going to be made up of some serious fans of the original film, which I am, but with less flexible attitudes to how the character is approached outside of the original movie. SHH is at least more diverse and open in it's fanboyness.

Ah, okay. I guess that makes sense. I didn't read the script that was being passed around, so I didn't pick up on that.

I seriously need to stop visiting Topless Robot. Nothing but negative, ignorant and close-minded comments concerning the new suit, and the movie in general. It's like the dregs of IMDB made their own website. (And Rob Bricken is a *****e.)

*sigh*

Why can't more people be more open-minded and give these things a chance? :csad:

Topless robot? has cyborg porn been invented? :csad:

Naw, it's nothing like what the name implies. :woot:

Basically, Topless Robot is a "satirical" website started by Rob Bricken, who "comments" on various comic book, sci-fi, fantasy and movie related news. I say "comments" because it's more like thinly-veiled vicious libel disguised as "sarcasm". If it involves remakes of re-adaptations of movies (like the new Robocop movie), he makes blind accusations towards it without doing a single ounce of research whatsoever on whether or not his charges are true or not. It's like if the dregs of IMDB had a website (and proper grammatical skills) and Bricken was their king.

His blind followers/minions, which make up a majority of the site's commentators, aren't any better. They pretty much agree with every single word he utters. If you so much as dissent and say anything resembling reason, common sense or rationality, some of them will just shut you down. And he doesn't even do anything about it. It's just sickening.

To make a long story short, Rob Bricken is a *****e. I've been visiting the site for a few years, but some of the more recent articles posted there, it's just not even worth the trouble anymore. At least the bloggers on io9 have sense and do their research.

Remember the topless pizza deleted scene from the original?

I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR :p

Robocop is blonde?!

Robocop's cape looks like a fruit rollup and his logo is too small

Robocop's head looks like a bobblehead

Robocop looks like a basketball

Robocop is a black man now

Robocop's suit is completely CGI

Does Robocop have a data port in the back of his head? It would be surreal if he has to have a spike jabbed into his head

He had one on the original suit as well.
