This pic is being reported all over the net as the new "main" suit. Not sure how that's likely when dozens of scenes have been filmed with the actor in another suit and none in this one. The studio really needs to release an official image soon.

Because, from what Solidus said about the script he read, that's basically how Robocop is approached in this film. He's a consumer product. They go through several different iterations of Robocop in a very short period of time (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0), before they settle on a version they know the public will love, just like the iPod. Even the "screen" on his helmet is very reminiscent of many touch screen surfaces on many Apple products (iPad, iPhone, etc.).

The majority of pics that we've seen so far are from after Murphy is officially launched as Robocop (if the Jan script is still relevant - yes I've read it 5 times)

This suit is either an earlier version from the first few scenes as Robo - or something that has been added post the Jan draft script. Although 2.0 is supposed to be olive drab in colour?

Perhaps they've decided against the coloured social mode and now we just have normal Robo without visor, normal Robo with visor and this über monstrosity?

I'm beginning to fear the worst about this movie now - I think the studio could do with releasing some official pics to try and turn the tide of negativity...

In the script there's a focus group that's shown designs of Robocop. They don't find it intimidating


In real life we've seen tons of set photos of the black suit and have given our reaction to it.

The studio probably made suggestions based on these comments

If you're saying that they created an entirely new suit, which would presumably require re-writes to the script, for a movie that's been filming for two months and heavy pre-production for the better part of a year because some people online complained about it, you overestimate our collective influence. I know this will trigger the age-old SHH argument about how much directors listen to fanboys on message boards. If this is not how you meant it I apologize.

The original version of the suit in that clip is pefect, its a shame they never kept it for the whole movie, also 'Every kid is gonna wanna play with robocop' shows where they are aiming this film and the scenes of Murphy hung up like a piece of meat will probably be watered down.
