RoboCop Reboot - Part 3

The movie looks damn good from what I can tell. Everything I wanted and then some.

This is coming from a HUGE fan of the original film.

thats dumb. a mere human hand isnt going to make an otherwise entire robot more approachable. plus, another robot hand would be far more valuable to him serving his purpose. i hope it gets cut off. the visor needed to stay down, it looks dumb when its up. the suit overall isnt all that bad, but those two things are the issues i have with it.

im definitely intrigued by the movie, and look forward to seeing more. the trailer looks better than i expected.

It's actually because in that universe, robots are not allowed to use firearms. He's not technically a robot if he doesn't look like one.

That suit looks ****ing awesome. Silver looks cool but damn Black is slick.

I can't say that I agree, to be honest his mannerisms his walk, his voice to ME at least all feels like Robocop, which is one of the good things I do like about it,

^Someone has to do a Youtube dub of this with William Daniels voice.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is optimistic about this, I didn't like everything but I did like quite a bit of what I saw, main thing I hope is we see him taking out actual human criminals, him defeating other robots seems kind of boring.

everything looked good until robocop actually comes into it. samuel l. jackson looks amazing, michael keaton is awesome. the robocop suit looks meh. and i dont like that his emotions arent robotic. the human hand is dumb and doesnt even make sense. does this one take place in detroit? the dead or alive line sounded rad.

Stop and think... Let the nerd rage reflex subside. Why, in this day and age... When we have AI that are sounding more and more natural... When we have AI companions in video games that we come to care about and see as real, three dimensional beings... Why, in the future, would they make a robot police man, who protects people and needs to come off as somewhat human and comforting, why would they make it sound robotic?

Please fanboys, think before you speak. This ain't the 80's anymoe.

It seems one of the main themes in this new version is that he's supposed to come off as human, even to himself, but in the end it's all fabricated. He's not supposed to seem robotic. Derp.

Wow! I just clicked on this thread expecting the usual "I wonder when we'll see something" posts and low and behold there's a trailer and it's a damn good one, the film looks sleek and Kinnaman just seems perfect for the part in the footage.

Kinnaman definitely seems like a great fit to me, I know I've seen some complaints but I'm not really sure why I mean we heard the guy say only a few lines.

Okay...so that was WAY better than I expected. I'm kind of looking forward to it now.

My thoughts exactly gentlemen.

The delivery was great and I really enjoyed how this still very much feels like a Padilha film.

but he looks like a robot. very much like a robot. one human hand doesnt make him look less like a robot. its more like, why does that robot have a human looking hand? but regardless of explanation, just as a visual aesthetic, it doesnt look good to me.

im not sure what any of this has to do with my statement which you quoted. nor do i think im nerd raging. i like some of what i saw in the trailer, and other parts i didnt like. seems pretty rational to me. if you have an issue with him sounding like a robot, take that up with the film makers, not me. either way, he SHOULD sound like a robot. He's Robocop.

I think him sounding like a robot is crucial, if he just sounded like a normal guy it would come off as very strange.

The trailer kind of seemed like it could go either way or I just had too high of hopes. There were Rise of the Planet of the Apes vibes which were good, it has a great cast, and there seems to be an actual commentary in there somewhere. Which makes me think the trailer was just cut to make it seem as mainstream as possible. It just seems like there's something more here.

I agree. He's not some masked vigilante. A guy in robot suit should sound robotic or at least monotone.

The hand thing is a little distracting to me. It stands out , but apart from that aspect everything else looked badass.

The trailer did not excite me, but the casting did: Jackie Earle Haley and Michael Keaton in the same film is glorious.

Batman, Commissioner Gordon, Nick Fury, and Rorschach all in the same movie.

Ditto.

I was a huge skeptic coming into this, but it looks amazing so far.

AND BOTH SUITS LOOK EXCELLENT.

But here's hoping that [blackout]after the black armor is destroyed and he has to be rebuilt[/blackout], he goes back to using the silver suit.

That looks awesome to me. The black looks good (but yeah, the silver looked better). It IS a re-imagining, so things are bound to be different. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do.

I geek out so hard with that last shot of him pulling his gun, and the 'Dead or alive' line.

It seems like his wife and family will play a bigger role in this version of the story.

Miguel Ferrer isn't in this, apparently.

and bullets, his wife and son are a HUGE part of this story :)

Trailer impressed me,Classic suit still looks awesome!!

That would match up with the social commentary aspect. When do we stop being human and become a machine? Are we still human? Or are we plugged in? Is this "digital age" dangerous to our humanity? Etc.

I really can't believe how much difference seeing the black suit in action made for me, I was one that really didn't like it at all, but after seeing it in action it's actually growing on me.

Though I still do wish they kept the silver as the primary suit.
