Splinter Cell: Blacklist

I'll probably pick this one up. I like to give Splinter Cell a chance every few iterations. I never can quite get into it, but I appreciate the effect to create stealth games, though it seems like this one might downplay the stealth. Never have tried this Spies vs Mercs thing. Might wait until I get a Wii U, too, to have some more stuffs to play on it and a little different from the norm.

This definitely doesn't downplay the stealth. It encourages it in every way possible

Well, that's cool. Seems like everything I've seen about it focused on gunplay and stuff. I don't think I've actually seen any pure stealth footage now that I think about it.

You get higher bonuses if you stealth through it. The levels are designed so you can completely ghost levels. There are achievements for not getting detected/ no killing. Grim has side missions that are your classic if you're detected its mission over.

I made sure to put up the pure stealth video's of play through's for that for those that were interested or wanted to know if that was still there for reassurance, for that reason, like master Chief who was worried about that.

But if you still didn't see them well your in for a pleasant surprise then.

That's because, for the most part, it has. Stealth games just don't sell the way these major publishers want, so they either have to eliminate stealth altogether or just fool the CoD loving drones into thinking it's an action title by saying 'Hey! look this games has tons of the action you love!' Luckily, this game is the latter. They want those CoD drones to buy the game, but at it's core, it's all Splinter Cell. Like Jacobed said, the game rewards you far more for stealth runs than all out assault runs.

On a side note, I'm playing through Conviction again and I know ill prob lose my Splinter Cell fan cred card for saying this, but I think the change from Ironside is a good one. He just doesn't seem like he was all that into his role in Conviction. Maybe it's because he sounds so much older than Fisher looks? IDK, but I'm looking forward to this new guy. Hope he delivers

I'm wary about this one after the last two. As far as this game supposedly secretly being a real stealth game is concerned, I have zero confidence in Ubisoft to do right by Tom Clancy game fans, so I'll believe it when I see it.

I think the issue is the stealth some fans want is completely gone. The industry has changed and isn't going back to the way it was when the first SC game released. So the way fans come into the game needs to be altered. It's the same with ppl wanting the rainbow six games to go back to the way they were originally. That's just not going to happen in today's industry, unless you go the kick starter route.

Also the SC before Conviction was lock step with the old SC in terms of gameplay. So really Conviction has been their only misstep in that dept.

Well, the last gen version was definitely classic Splinter Cell, but the current gen one deviated a bit. I mostly included Double Agent because of the way they sent "real" one to die.

Oh yea for sure.

Ya know i still never played the Xbox version of DA and i heard it was SOOO much better than the current gen.

True. But Chaos Theory is perhaps the best stealth game ever made, so that's a pretty tall order.

Yea for sure.

CT had some of the most memorable missions iv ever come across in a game. I think my fave was prob Seoul.

And I still have yet to play a co-op mode as well laid out as CT's co-op. Man that mode was incredible, absolutely incredible. Loved how at one point Lambert was telling the two guys something and they started talking back and forth and one guy goes, did he say Fisher? Wait, theres more Splinter Cells? And the other dude is like, nah, we're the only ones. Just a neat little peek into 3E. I really wish i could play that mode again.

Just finished the first campaign mission and wow, im blown away. Im not ready to say this is better than Chaos Theory as iv only played one mission, but im pretty damn sure this is the game Ubisoft wanted to make back when they produced CT. I mean its SC through and through. Love that they added the ability to stash bodies and i think its an awesome touch that knocked out guards can be revived by their teammates. Really makes those ghost playthroughs even tougher. Speaking of tough, the enemies are brutal, at least on Realistic. Dont get caught, because its only a few rounds before game over.

LOVE the equipment selection. The first thing i did was get that classic Chaos Theory suit outfitted to Sam, changed the color to a desert camo and was ready for the first mission. Just browsing through all the upgrades, it looks like theres a ton to upgrade. Cant wait to dive deeper into that.

On a side note, has anyone had any issues with the game saving? Like i said, i finished the first mission, then went to Uplay(which claimed it was down) then i tried to go back into the game and it looks as if ALL my progress has been deleted and i have to start at the beginning. I mean its not too bad as i only did one mission(altho that mission took like an hour and a half) but i deff dont wanna get 3 or 4 missions in and have my save file erased. I also noticed some weird sound glitches and the screen tearing is pretty fierce.

Other than that though, im loving the game. If the following missions end up being as good as this first one, wow, Chaos Theory might just be dethroned as the top SC game and thats something i never thought id say.

Awesome.

I think I get what your saying, but I also think it may have been on purpose. There are moments where Ironside cranks the volume and energy, and it's usually whenever Sarah is brought up. For alot of ConViction, Sam seems like he's basically just apathetic about everything. He doesn't want to be involved in any of it anymore, but Grim pulls his strings enough to keep him involved. The "Truth" scene is still so damn cool, too. But, he honestly seemed like he couldn't care less about the White House getting hit, because all he cared about was getting Sarah to safety. It wasn't until she tells him he has to do something that he springs into action on that end.

Dude, track it down. It was worth hunting down, and playing, right after playing the 360 version. And I really enjoyed the 360 version, but that last-gen DA was way more like Chaos Theory. I think the story is also alot better. Enrica is more fleshed out, and the ending is just ****ing sick. For me, that version is the better story and how Sam goes from the company man to rouge agent on the run makes better sense with how they did it in the Xbox version.

The suit you get for pre ordering at gamestop makes stealth way too easy, I'm going to have to.play without it

Is that the Chaos Theory suit? Thats the one im using and it doesnt seem like anything is being made easier, stealth wise. Im playing on Realistic so maybe that has something to do with it?

It's called the 4e suit or something like that. Adds the same amount of stealth as the Chaos Theory suit as well as lots of armor and it does about 1 more of everything than the Chaos Theory suit

Oh got ya. I'll have to look Into that. I don't even pay attention to the stats, I'm just rocking the slickest looking outfit I have unlocked, which ATM is that CT suit.
