Batman is such legitimate movie making you can smell the authenticity and integrity of the director as you watch it :oldrazz:

I feel sorry for the regular bat fans

ROFLMAO! you owe me a new screen!:oldrazz:

I have a feeling next some of them will say that's one the reason for the movie succes is the TDKR trailer..:oldrazz:

None of this discussion has anything to do with Avengers box office; God I wish I was a mod right now.

I think we're looking at close to $500 M Dom, and $750 M Int for this film. I'm not quite sure it will catch Harry Potter due to Potter's insane near $1 Billion foreign, but it'll come close.

$500m domestic at this point has to be a minimum, no?

I'm a huge Batman fan and there's no way any versed Batman fan would say that Nolan's Batman captures the spirit of Batman. Batman: Mask of Phantasm still holds the title as best Batman adaptation so far, and that was what, twenty years ago?

Do you want to see something that really captures the spirit of Batman and translates it to a screen? Look no further than Netflix and rent Batman: Mask of Phantasm. Now that's a brilliant (animated) Batman movie.

But never fear, after The Avengers, Warner will make sure that the reboot really captures the spirit of Batman and translate it to the big screen. The Avengers proved that you can embrace your comic book origins and still have a brilliant and profitable film, so the possibility of a Batman movie heavily influenced by the comics, Batman TAS and the Arkham Asylum games is now a real possibility. No more ashamed of his comic book roots for Batman, true believer! :woot:

This.A thousand times this!

If you think Nolan doesn't like 3-D, don't get him started on smell-a-vision. :o

Next will come the people saying it's pathetic that Marvel had to combine six superheroes to make decent bank, or that making over $1bn is underperforming for this movie.

They've been saying that since this film was first announced, so it's not going to be anything new or shocking.

"Anyone who dresses up like a bat clearly has issues."

"You took my advice about theatricality a bit … literally."

"Like a submarine Mr. Wayne. Like a submarine."

lol i always wondered, why didn't he say like a Bat.

But yea, they did have moments of comedy. But more like chuckle worthy moments. Not full on fits of laughter like Hulk's scenes.

Avengers will be 1st film to make 100 million in its 2nd weekend?

Marvel fans should also thank Disney. The absurd amount of marketing on ESPN, Disney and ABC definitely played a big role in it's success.

I never said they did. My point is that the films are clearly self-aware.

Avengers is hardly the first to bring 6 superheros together in one film. The x films have been doing it for years(ignore FF here).

Avengers just presented itself as self important and in doing so and so did everyone else.

One thing to learn from this. Fox, it's ok for your films to have more than one star.

You have read a batman comic before correct? If you answer yes, you should realize how absolutely childish and hypocritical you sound whilst bashing Nolan's movies. The avengers captures the spirit of its characters, same way Nolan captures the spirit of batman. Nothing pretentious or self important or whatever stupid buzzword you'd like to use about it.

So did Adam West, last I checked his fanbase was less vocal about it :woot::oldrazz:

Rothman: 'But we had Wolverine AND Halle Berry' :o

Everything played a role in its sucess, even how great to movie is.

Plenty of movies get great marketing and then bomb.

Adam West has a fanbase in this day and age?

Anyway, I paid almost 20 dollars to see it (2D showings were hard to come by) so I would have been disappointed if it didn't obliterate the opening weekend record.

In all serious, that's one goddamn massive number and a huge gap between no. 1 and no. 2 (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2).

I'm still in shock.

$200m opening weekend?

My God....imagine what's gonna have to come from this now. This is like, landmark appeal right now. Comic book/superhero movies is what the people want now and the demand seems higher than ever almost.

No, they didnt; X-men movies failed miserably as ensemble pieces, focused on a few of them and had the rest as glorified wallflowers.

Never liked them, precisely because of that.

6 main stars "i have mt own movie" (well, four on that) in one movie... that something else.

Imagine the numbers if they made a MARVEL VS. DC movie. The world would implode on itself

You're completely missing the point of The Avengers

The absurdity of your post doesn't really warrant a response but as for your last opinion about wb looking at the avengers and then wanting to totAlly follow its footsteps for a reboot(as if Nolan's films have been terrible) all I can say is you should probably take your head out of your own ass if this is truly what you believe. And I still maintain Nolan's batman has captured the spirit of the character better than any batman film to date. And where is this "ashamed of comic book roots" that your talking about? Which comic exactly? Because they've actually taken inspiration from some of bat and best stories. I assume you've heard of the killing joke, long Halloween, no mans land, the dark knight returns, etc? Again, just an illustration of you spouting absolute nonsense.

God...people like you make me ashamed that i'm a comicbook/batman fan:doh:

Haha, I'm sure they would have liked the extra money, but they have gotten enough from Nolan and his bat-franchise. *Hence why they gave him his way without 3D. Plus, I'm not really sure why people keep comparing Batman with this Avengers movie. They are completely different. I don't expect the general audience to like Batman as much as the Avengers. It isn't as corny or full of CGI.

OMG, nolanite/batfanboy is frustrated...:word:
