The Avengers The Avengers Box-Office Prediction Thread - Part 4

Well, Potter 8 had 169 mil OW, which was the old record holder so anything after that is gravy, but I love how The Avengers not just broke the record but destroyed it completely with 207 mil OW. So for me, the higher it is the better it is, and if it can make 700 mil domestic I'll be ecstatic & over-the-moon about it. :yay:
If Baumer's figures work out it'll be destroying the second weekend figure by an even more impressive amount (42% Vs 22%).

I see it dropping way more than 7% yesterday. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

I'm sure the same people will turn around and insist that 1 billion is not a big deal anyway because there are other movies who have broke this barrier.

Yep just read my signature, it tells that tale of what's happening perfectly.

With you on that as well. Changing/limiting the role of the established leader is a big disservice to the fans even if it makes the film better (which it didn't). Some things should just be kept the same as the source material even if it's difficult to do (which in this case I see no reason why it would be). Imagine Cyke giving out the orders to the team like Cap did in NYC. :word::csad:

Would be very happy with that!
Yeah the esitmates at BoxOffice.com is giving somewhere between $102M to $107M for next weekend, with lowest being around $96M.

They're pretty precise too, but I'm going to hope for the lower end at least.

Coz to be honest, if it just hits anywhere near $90M it would be a freaking huge blowout record by itself (I think current record is $78M for a 2nd week).

where did you get that gamma burst?

nm, i see it. not exactly official numbers though. hard to tell.

I don't see it doing any less that 90mil this weekend. And dare I even think of it being the first movie to gross 100mil in it's second weekend?

No real point it predicting daily bo numbers. Just wait a few hours.

I'm holding out hope that TA will make a 100 mil its second weekend. Keeping fingers crossed.

I wouldn't be all that shocked if it did. I have several friends who are definitely clamoring to see it a second time. I think the fantastic word of mouth it's receiving, added with the highly re-watchable factor of the film, could help it have another huge, $100 million weekend.

I'm going to lowball and guess $80 M this weekend, just so I can be ecstatic when it does $100 M. :-)

Basically, you're wrong:

ERCboxoffice: $17.5M Tuesday

WOW!

That means these earlier estimates from BoxOffice.com is actually VERY accurate, right down to the Hundreth Thousandth!

Most up to date analysis (courtesy of BoxOffice.com Baumer):

Mon: $18.9
Tues: $17.5 (-7%)
Wed: $14.5 (-17%)
Thurs: $ 13.2 (-.08%)

$271.7 million before the weekend.

Fri: $31.7 (+140%)
Sat: $44.4 (+43%)
Sun: $31.1 (-30%)

$107.2 million for the 2nd weekend.

Estimated US $378.9 million total in 10 days.

Still hoping $100 million but not expecting it.

Anything over $90 million alone would be HUGE!

$78 million is the current record I believe for the 2nd weekend.

Basically, you're wrong:

ERCboxoffice: THE AVENGERS amassed an estimated $17.5M on Tuesday. Total for earth's mightiest is now $244M.

Slight correction, the actual is $17.7M :word:

$17,677,190.

^ EDIT, posted at the same time :woot:

People better learn to deal, because The Avengers are going to be around for a while. :awesome:

will be interesting to see how much dark shadows does. it's getting panned but so did pirates 2, 3 and 4. depp is pretty critic proof.

Avengers crossed $500 million overseas yesterday (its 14th day in theaters)

...so that is $25M from overseas on Tuesday. $800M worldwide by Thursday Night?

I think that The Avenger's will steal audience away from Dark Shadows. Not because of reviews though, people don't care about reviews.

I have friends doing the same, friends who never want to see anything more than once. They also aren't exactly fond of comic movies (the bastards :woot:).

dark shadows is a dark horse (no pun intended). I hope it tanks, they've p***** on the series by making it a comedy.

I think dark shadows will be burton and depps biggest failure... it might make a moderate amount of money, but I don't see it leaving any lasting mark. It looks remarkably uninteresting.
