I'd be looking more forward to seeing the F4 back in Marvel's hands, as no other creative force in Hollywood seems to understand that property at all. At least Spider Man on balance hasn't been terribly executed.

I don't think Fox has any real plans for a reboot. I think it's what someone said before that they are stringing just enough along in hopes that Marvel pays them cash for the rights back.

Ha, yeah. I'd actually be really curious, though, to see what Marvel studios would do with the FF. That property has really been the hardest to update and keep relevant, I think, even in the comics.

I think it's partly that the "super hero family" concept keeps it rather static and old-fashioned.

Reed Richards is a genius inventor, which overlaps with Tony Stark, but Tony is more interesting otherwise, especially his movie-verse incarnation. The Avengers are Earth's Mightiest, and they have the Shield connection. Many of the Avengers can carry their own movies, the FF members cannot.

So... I dunno. I don't see where the FF fit, really, alongside the Avengers.

Two key characters make the FF interesting: Sue Storm and Ben Grimm. Sue is one of the most compelling female superheroes currently in existence, and has more potential than any of the women in the Avengers rotation, frankly.

With Ben Grimm, you basically have a Hulk-like character who can function at a high mental level, which gives you the best of both worlds: over the top action in one scene, and a dry sense of humour and human emotion when called for.

I think Disney/Marvel can do the stringing along, to be honest. It's Sony that needs cash like a junkie, and their corporate position doesn't look to be improving any time soon.

How bout Daredevil? I actually thought the movie was okay and the character himself has a ton of potential. Would love for him to join the MCU and get cinematic justice. He's like one of those characters that has always been cool, but never gotten put in the spotlight...

The FF need to be in the Marvel Cinema Universe. Their presence makes a universe starting to run out of two dimensional characters even richer. In the 616 they are a key role. An outside force other than the Avengers that are probably more popular and more feared throughout the Multiverse. They are the ones the Avengers call when things get really effed up. Funny thing is... it's not even their job. They are of course a family of explorers. But are lynchpins to how the 616 works.

Before Kang was Kang he was Rama Tut.


Since Ben and Sue have been so eloquently defended by Pink Ranger, I won't go into detail, but I will say that Ben's heart of gold and never quit attitude makes him one of the most loved characters in all of comics. And Sue has had the most growth of any female character in comics. Her connection to Namor also sweetens the pot.

As for the other two. Reed? The smartest man in the universe? No room for Reed in the room? One of the best things about Heroes Reborn was the Atomic Knights of the Round Table.

And then some spare that should have been Pym. Anywho... those characters ARE the Marvel Universe. They bounce off of each other well, as displayed in the Avengers with Banner and Stark. Now Banner might not have the gumption or desire to one up Tony to his face, but Reed has no such qualms. I'd love to see those guys together.

Johnny is Johnny. Not everyone is destined to save the world. But he has. And dammit he's fun. Put him in and watch him react to tragedy. It's always heart wrenching.


Do I need to talk about Doom and Galactus and the Surfer and the Negative Zone and...

The List goes on.


There's plenty of room for the FF. As a matter of fact, the Avengers will absolutely need a punch in the arm at some point. How do you top bringing all the solo heroes together in one movie?

If FF is brought into the MCU, maybe Chris Evans can play both Capt. America and Human Torch. That would be a hoot.

Haha but I don't even mean he should be part of the Avengers. Just for him to be owned by Marvel Studios, who are the most capable of getting the most out of the Daredevil character.

That's quite an elegant post, but one point I can't see is that the Avengers call the FF for help...
I'm sorry, but the Avengers as a team clearly have more firepower. Perhaps they could use Reed Richards mind sometimes, but I think they could handle things themselves for the most part. If anything, I would imagine the FF call on the Avengers for aid.

u know if marvel gets FF, there's no way Joss could restrain himself from a Hulk vs Thing fight. It has to happen if those 2 ever occupy the same screen. The EMH show this season captured the Hulk/Thing rivalry perfectly. I think it was the very first episode of this season. It was hilarious.

My own preference is for the FF to remain outside the MCU continuity, but for Marvel to still produce them for creative quality purposes. I think a good FF film can have a different and unique spirit altogether from the Avengers canon.

However, if they are integrated into the MCU, I can definitely envision the poignant post-credits conversation between Richards and Stark/Fury trying to get them to join the Avengers Initiative, but turning out in a way that will explain to the mainstream audience why the FF are separate. Something like:

"We have a team ..."

"No, you have an army. I am a scientist, we are explorers. We have no interest in becoming walking weapons. We will not fight a war, for you or beside you."

That works in the comics, but as other posters have mentioned before, in cinema there has to be a reason why the FF don't just join the Avengers, and why they wouldn't show up in each others' movies to help each other.

That's why I prefer to keep the two worlds separate.

To me, they don't join because they don't want to, but will help whenever. As for why they don't show up, that's real easy as the FF are adventurers first and foremost. Yeah, they beat up villians but the are all over the place and always in some strange deminsion. That's a lines worth of dialog at most as you really don't need to go beyond that.

I agree. I'm not sold on Marvel's plan to make a GOTG movie, but if they have FF I think it would be alot easier to connect the cosmic universe with MCU, if FF is shown traveling in Negative Zone and exploring outer space. Plus, Galactus & Silver Surfer would've been amazing for not just expanding on the concept of cosmic entities, but they would provide great adversaries for an Avengers sequel to tackle, not to mention Dr. Doom.
