BvS The Batsuit Thread - - - - Part 13

BB's approach of rationalizing everything in detail was fine and interesting at the time; it just doesn't need to be repeated.

Exactly

Agreed. What I would *love* to see is Batman taking down a group of thugs, and the last man standing fires desperately into him with a submachine gun as Batman lunges forward and takes him down.

Batman stands up and one of the bullets is stuck to the fabric of his suit. he brushes it off and moves on.

No dialog needed. It shows that if a thug gets that lucky shot in, Bats is protected. And it would make for a sick action sequence if shot properly.
That would be great!

Just PM'd you the image w/o the symbol so you can do with it as you see fit.

Based on what I know about ballistic fabrics, we have reached the point where clothing can be made ballistic but I'm yet to see something as form-fit and stretchy as spandex made ballistic. Granted, Batman's tech can be ahead of real world tech and nobody could really complain, because he's been that way since forever.

The only issue I see is that there should be a clear difference between the batsuit and the Superman suit, moreso than just the logo, colors and 3d texture of the fabric. One advantage Marvel has with the Avengers is that none of them look similar at all in comic form, but in comic form there's not a lot of difference in the basics of Batman and Supes.

Throw Green Lantern and Flash into the mix, and you run the risk of everybody looking like they're wearing the same type of suit with minimal differences. Flash I could see wearing skin-tight material, Green Lantern, I guess. Bats is the easiest one to add some thicker fabric to without raising an eyebrow, so for the sake of him not looking like a clone I think that's why they're going with the padded Captain America style more than anything.

I hear yah!

Anywho, here's a crack at modding your mod :)

Not my finest hour, but not my worst either ;)

Not bad!

If the midsection was a bit simpler, I could really go for that concept. Still like the cowl and cape attachment.

I know, blech. Well, here's an attempt to do it with shading. I also cleared up a bit of Fleck's face. Agreed that with a cleaner mid area (clearly, they'd do this in the real movie) this is pretty cool...

^ That's pretty good. The darkness does cover up the detail a bit.

Not a fan of that look. Feels a little too Halloween costume-ish to me. Battle Angel's manip a few pages back is my favorite I've seen so far, like on the whole internet.

The stubble looks like a Tim Sale shot from Long Halloween. And that's a great thing :word:

You are amazing me by your work  Good job.

I'm gonna call this my final draft. Kept the eyes and emblem as I made them, because I preferred them as such. Used BattleAngel's chin. I liked the dark broodiness of mine, but his looks more photoreal. Added gauntlets, and took the detail out of the abdomen, leaving just the base layers for some interesting contrast.

The shading on the stomach is meant to look natural, so the stomach is all one fabric. I know it doesn't quite look that way. My skills go only so far.

The Forbes article. Thats why i posted my last suit manip using the CA suit as a base.

The Forbes article isn't a legitimate source...it was written by a guy who contributes to BOF. A lot of the article was conjecture.

Wow that's so cool! Love the cowl and cape attachment and the suit is not too bad too.

Seriously, you really can't tell that from the civilian clothing he's been wearing. The only way to really tell is if you were to see him with his shirt off. Even so, he's still in good enough shape, it would take him maybe a month at most to get in proper shape.

Seriously - if you look at recent pap pictures of Batfleck - does he seriously look like someone in shape, how Batman should look, a man who is the peak of his physical abilities?

I know he is acting, but for instance, Henry Cavil - the same time away from the shoot as Ben looks a millions times better.

Affleck is bloated - pure and simple - for whatever reason.

All i am trying to say is, the suit we are going to get, is not going to be as strict in terms of the body fitting the mould as Superman's.

I feel they are going the route of Bane - smack on mass and look imposing due to camera work - no shame in that at all, as long as the end product looks decent.

I am not purposely bashing anyone!

This is AMAZING!

Kevin Smith is doing an AMA tomorrow on Reddit at 1PM EST. Maybe we could bug him to release more info about the Batsuit!

Glad you liked the chin - yar, it's not as dramatic but looks better and I tried to fit your expression as well as I could find. I'm so glad you took away the stomach crap. You also lightened up the gray of the suit, which I think is an improvement. I might kind of prefer my gauntlets, but I think yours look good here. I'd love to see them beyond that DC block. And unless my eyes are mistaken, you cleaned up the seams of the cowl. Bravo.

But I kinda say I don't like the emblem at all - it's a dead on likeness for the BvS logo we've seen so far, but I don't like it and don't think the emblem will have the superman triangle in it on his suit. My emblem is very similar to the bat part of the logo, and it has a raised, partially sculpted element to it that I dig.

So here's a hybrid between your final version (which I love) and the key parts of mine. I tried to do a bit w/ the blurry stomach but ultimately gave up - the waves you put in are a little more defined now if anything.

That's the first Batsuit I've seen thatI'd be 100% happy with. It's a great mix of realistic and feasible and comic accurate.

Great job.

Great minds, but yours is greater.

Urban Camoflage (the way you did it, I mean) is the way to go. It provides a visual contrast to Superman, provides a rational explanation more than "he just found some place to hide behind or grapple from above" and it's far more faithful to the comic design than the other movies, especially the textured "New 52" one

"Do you know who I am, punk? I'm the best Batman you'll ever have. One that makes you rise from your seat and CHEER for Zack Snyder."

I can't stop...

Good night, gang...

And yes, it does come in black...

This is so awesome. The only thing I'd change is the exposure a smidge and then it would be perfect. But even without it's:hubba

I dunno, the lenses look so silly for live action.

Not a fan.
