Wtf is wrong with something like this?

Absolutely nothing.

Acceptable explanations:

  • Hi-tech contact lenses
  • Conceals his true eye color from those who would try to discover his identity

Sure, it looks great if Batman is going blind.

Wait a second! Affleck already played a blind guy with cataracts. Gentlemen, you just persuaded me into thinking it's the bomb.com.

Trademark that! I'm the first to ever say that!

Wow. Actually, for myself, not a thing. It's cool and creepy at the same time. Hmm....

I'd love to see a shot if him emerging from the shadows with those eyes, would scare the hell out of his target. Just have them go transparent when not in use.

I was pretty firmly against the idea of lenses being used in live action for a long time, but I've come around on the idea and think they could work if done properly.
I wouldn't want them to be something that's permanently positioned over his eyes, but rather something that can be retracted into the mask when they're not needed.
This could work IMO if they went with a mask similar to the one in Arkham city(Which I hope they do anyway...with or without the lenses) rather than the traditional black eye makeup look

See how the eye holes are just about the size of his actual eyes?
I can easily see lenses sliding down from inside the mask whenever he needs them for either tactical(Heat/night vision) or theatric reasons.

The main reason the daredevil mask failed IMO is because they were actual physical and permanently positioned lenses that were installed in the mask that had to look a certain way,but also reduce the actors field of vision as little as possible,so they were a little big and made him look bug eyed..
This wouldn't really be a problem if the lenses were CG and used only when necessary.

I don't know..
Just my two cents.
I don't really give a **** either way.:funny:
Just think it would be incredibly cool if it were pulled off successfully.

I'm open to the 'white eyes' look, but as a hangman would say, it's all in the execution. If I see something, I know if I like or dislike it.

Who wouldn't be down for CataractMan? All we need now is some heavy puzzle armor, and you got the quintessential Batsuit.

No examples required. You guys know it'll look amazing and stuff!

Huh?

Because stuff...n thaangs.
:cwink:

First one is cool.
It's the same concept/effect, just in different settings I guess.

That's what I had in mind. Pretty much like google glass but right on the eye. Could also help him see in the dark.

Imagine if they glowed a bit? Jesus, that would be awesome. And like you said, turns off the effect when he needs too - hell he could put them on in the morning and leave them in all day and night. Make for easy detective assistance while he's in regular day attire.

I'd be all for that and it would look awesome, but practically, they would limit your peripherals soooooo much if the mask covered up that much. On the other side, obviously Batman applying eye makeup would be just as ridiculous.

We get it. You don't like it. You're just verging on trolling now.

He's being a smart ass.

Lot of movement in this thread.

1) Glider cape- I quite liked it, but it was overused to allow Batman to more or less fly as opposed to control his landing. Weird thing about Nolan: he loved "teh realistic" until it came to airborne objects. Then he was like a kid with a toy spaceship.

Overall I think it's a good idea, and would support its moderate use (for instance, to lengthen jumps between rooftops) in conjunction with the rope and grapple.

2) Lenses: I'm genuinely grateful to Nolan for attempting to introduce that visual in TDK, but it simply didn't look good. I could say that of much of the trilogy. Visuals are not his forte.

I am open to a new attempt to include them, but have yet to see a convincing example of their use.

Visuals are not his forte.

This, 1,000,000 times. The DK trilogy has it's strengths and weaknesses but falling short on the visual side is a cardinal sin for a hero character like Batman.

Every shot of the lead character in costume in the Marvel movies or Man OF Steel looks like a splash page. There's barely anything in Nolan's trilogy that fits that bill and what there is is fleeting.

To put it another way - I always thought Batman Begins would have been a movie I would actually loved if the leaked script (which I liked a bit better than the final one) had been directed by Zac Snyder. I felt that way before he did MOS.

The man knows how to do comic book visuals right, it IS his forte. There's no one better at it IMO.

So it's pretty great I actually get to see a Zac Snyder Batman and I didn't have to wait 10 or 20 years after Nolan to get it.

How would people feel if the cowl sculpt had more human-like eyes? I always kind of liked how Matthew Goode's mask's eyes looked in Watchmen. They're a bit droopy looking and too geometrical but it's more interesting than just regular holes.

I feel like inbuilt lenses would look best in this type of sculpt, too.

If lenses are used and if the eyelids are smaller, I think, it should work really well.

No eyelids here. And the lenses are too wide or something.

My first manip work in a while, so be kind.

Firstly, it's so, so hard to get the eye shape right. I think it needs to be something close to this, but maybe a bit more angular.

Secondly, once you start messing around with it to get it to fit right, the lens element starts to look fake, even though it's based on a real photo of a real mirrored lens. And once you try to introduce transparency it just looks faker. It's just supposed to look like a mostly transparent, slightly silvered lens.

I'm showing opaque and clear versions, but my preference is for clear.

Just watched TDK again today and i must say, i really like how they made his eyes basically pitch black with the light glare dot.

^ The eyes do look cool, but it also looks like the cowl is squishing his face.

You mind doing both eyes? Looks good.

And a couple more attempts at getting the transparency.
