well that's disappointing maybe we've been overestimating how fast the merger appears to be moving forward.

I am too. Maybe we'll get one soon, or at the next conference call. If the deal isn't already closed before then, that is.

Yeah, at this point I'd expect something before the next quarterly report.

They've got to be working hard to get everything done, and I hope and expect we'll know a closing date before the end of the year (though that closing date will almost certainly be in 2019).

Well I didn't expect all the approvals were all in, and, in hindsight, I guess I shouldn't have expected anything official while they're still working on approvals.

And in terms of progress, things like EU approval are known and have been reported, so they probably don't feel any obligation to report information that is already known.

I didn't ether but I figured maybe at least an update on where the approvals were at, confirmation of China approval and just maybe a rough closure date.

Disney are already using the national geographic logo on their marketing. Interesting. since the deal hasn't closed yet.

Yeah, there was basically nothing new that came out of this other than the official name of Disney’s Streaming Service.

It's fine, guys. It'll happen in due time. If we don't get a post-credits teaser with A4, maybe we'll get another fan event announcing the Phase Four lineup.

“Fresh off the Boat” on ABC used the “X-Files” theme a few times during their Halloween episode. Just a little something something.

I'm not really that adamant about a F4 teaser in A4 but more expectant about what's going to happen about the characters that are on Netflix and their series. They didn't even mention them.

I guess if they've still got some countries they're working on, they don't want to count their chickens.

And if, for example, they're negotiating with Brazil and they're close and they expect to be approved within weeks, they can't really say that because that might jeopardize the ongoing negotiation.

I am surprised though that they didn't at least provide a list of the countries they're still working on.

After Fant4stic when all the FFINO defenders left this forum and went into hiding, we could count the chickens who flew the coop. :o

Apparently at the earnings call: Bob Iger told reporters that he expects for the 21st Century Fox deal to close “meaningfully earlier” than June, their original estimate.

Doesn’t say much but it does tell me that things are progressing a lot quicker than anticipated for Disney. So I’m guessing early next year.

Here’s the recap of the entire earnings call in case anyone is curious.

Apparently, you missed the fine print at the bottom:

  • *Subject to availability and closing 21CF transaction
Disney is being very cautious. They obviously remember the "No jinxing!" rules from childhood. :D:

If JJ Abrams ends up signing a major deal with Disney over other studios who are interested, I'd imagine that Bad Robot will be behind quite a bit of new content on this service, which could be attractive to potential consumers. Perhaps that's part of the pitch, to help define and grow it.

This sounds promising.

Iger reports that Disney expects to cover the acquisition at their April investor conference, meaning they expect to have the deal closed before then.

My expectation at this moment is they'll announce, before the end of the year a closing date before the end of February. Might be a little shorter or longer, but if I had to set Vegas odds on an over/under, that's where I'd put it.

Don't need one. Feige clearly has no intention of covering dark material in the films. Otherwise the shows would not exist at all. They're not going to be rebooted. That is just some fan wishful thinking because Daredevil never was on screen with Spider-Man. They're not being rebooted.

Besides, Daredevil is being done right on Netflix. Him shaking hands with Spider-Man in a reboot that is more jokey in tone won't be better. Spoiler alert.

Yeaaaaaaaaa but we don’t know yet so

Until such time as Feige declares them not cannon, they're for all intent and purposes cannon. Hence the MCU easter eggs and mentions the show has. It's intended to be a MCU show. I think people can just kind of come to accept it or write their own head cannon. But either way, I don't see these shows every being rebooted. At best, a recast could occur. But again, I doubt this ever happens. If Feige wanted them, they wouldn't be on Netflix. That's just a fact.

The Netflix shows never fit to me imo. I don’t know why. They can reference the mcu all the time but they just never got to me

That's cool. But again, the shows are intended to be MCU shows. So until such time, them not fitting for you doesn't matter. At this point in time, the Netflix characters are the MCU versions of those characters. That's the current reality. The writers and such have even said in the past they have had to be reigned in when the movie people said someone couldn't be used or an event needed changing. I remember a comment by one of the JJ writers on this, and also the fact they had to use the Claire Temple version of Night Nurse on the shows.

Sorry if I am too forward on this, but I just feel like I have to put in this reality check for people.

The shows being dark is essentially the solely reason of why these characters would be rebooted, so they have a tone that matches the overall MCU. Saying it won't happen because you don't like the idea isn't exactly a valid argument. Only people at Disney knows for certain what's going to happen. Thing is, two shows have already been cancelled. This could mean Heroes for Hire or something else. But taking into account that Netflix wants to build their own universe with their own superheroes, I don't see Marvel's properties continuing there for much longer. I'm not saying they'll be rebooted, though. Disney may intend to transfer those shows to Hulu in the future.

If Feige wanted them, they wouldn't be on Netflix. That's just a fact.
Also, I don't get how this logic works.
