if it is rotten ill kill myself
What
if it is rotten ill kill myself
guys honestly chill out... some of these reviews are tragically stupid and ridiculous in their opinions. Others definitely have some points but those are even debatable.
Just watch it for yourself, again my reaction was the film had total magic .. It is certainly a hell of a lot better than other Superman films in the past and it's a triumph big time.

Where is Superman? The one I've known and loved for more than 50 years is nowhere to be found, replaced by a plastic, uncharismatic Superdude, who'd make a great fashion model, but is a horrid Man of Steel.

This review from RT prove that people cannot move on from the past and accept the modern age Superman.

...or that they just didn't like the movie. Which should be fine.
Exactly. This is what we've been saying. It isn't all denial, haha.So I've read some more of the bad reviews and the consensus seems to be from many of them that it isn't the 'Superman we know'. I find it ironic that reviewers are suddenly the ones complaining about the sacredness of the Superman mythology whilst fans seem to be more open to the changes. It could be down to bad execution but it's a theme I'm reading.
Is it fair to say that Donner's Superman film casts such a large shadow, that the general audience (non comic book readers), simply can't understand or accept another interpretation of Superman other than what Christopher Reeve gave us?

Sure they can, if it's better. But I, personally, can't find anything noteworthy about this movie that is. Looks like I'm not alone.
If there are issues with the film then it's fine to point them out, but I do think having read some more of the reviews some critics opinions are being clouded by what they think Superman should be. I know it sounds like I'm changing my tune here but having read a couple more of the negative reviews there's a lot of 'supposed to be' type of analysis from some critics.
TBH, I don't feel bad if the critics are too "married" to Donner for some fanboys
The Donner films have been nitpicked to death too much by fanboys with something to prove, so at least SOMEONE out there appreciate the films and don't complain endlessly about people spinning around the earth.
