The Dark Knight Rises What should the final scene of the trilogy be?

I wonder if it will be a play on Batmans and Gordons first encounter. Remember when Batman declares " now we're two!"
Could be an interesting way to nod at them knowing each other's identity, especially if Bats is Bruce at the time.

I see something like that working if Bruce and Gordon have a relationship that develops over the course of the movie. Gordon saying something like that to Bruce could happen with ambiguity as to whether he's telling Bruce "I know, but will never speak of it", or if he's just mirroring what Batman told him early on. I think it's more in Nolan's style to put things in his movies that can be open-ended to interpretation.

Batman And Gordon meet on the rooftop

Gordon: " You is a hard man to reach"

Batman: *Smirks*

Gordon: "Masked freaks and insane criminals running loose it doesn't end"

Gordon pulls out a smartphone and says " Take a look at this'' the smartphone shows a video of a FBI Agent walking through debris of a burned bank vault and the agent says " Right over there in that corner we have a white bag full of coins" and he walks over to the bag and on the bag is a big question mark in green with a note attached saying "Bats Who Are You'' and the Gordon cuts off the phone.

Batman: "I'll check it out"

Gordon: "That's not all Joker escaped Arkam last night" and he pulls out his wallet and gives Batman an two faced coin "This was found on my desk Find Harvey I will thank you"

Batman: "You Don't Have To Thank Me Thank Us" And gives Gordon a picture of Robin and flies off the rooftop screen goes black and then credits roll

I think a nod to the Joker is definitely the best ending.

In my mind the best ending would be a very short scene inside Arkham where we see a woman walking down a hallway where all the padded rooms are looking very nervous and suddenly someone comes over the intercom and says something like "Dr. Quinzel please report to so and so..." and she looks up at the speaker (indicating she is Dr. Quinzel). Then we see her stop at a door and drop a set of keys in a sliding box that goes into the cell, delivering them to the patient like Clarice Starling giving something to Hannibal Lecter. We then see two hands pick up the keys and kind of twirl them around. The camera zooms out to the window on the door which has a Joker card taped to it on the inside.

Okay, that's NOT good!

These films so far have consisted of people telling Bruce why Gotham needs Batman. Rachel....Dent...Gordon.....Alfred.......they've all given spiels at one time in regards to the importance of Batman. So it'd be nice for the movie to end with an inspiring speech from Bruce as to how he himself has come to this realisation. Of course...this will be accompanied by a typically epic Nolan montage. :oldrazz:

Great idea!

Even though it has been times when it has been alluded I still want this film to end up showing a Bruce Wayne that realizes that what he does and what he has done is important, that Batman is the best for Gotham and that the city needs him.

Because like you said in the past movies (and especially TDK) it has been other people trying to convince Bruce that Batman is a good and necessity thing for himself and Gotham.

The last scene should be Batman and Gordon talking about the future of Gotham.

Batman burns his cowl in a bonfire and roasts marshmallows with Alfred.

How's this:

Batman stands atop a building with Catwoman. It is a romantic moment. Catwoman flirtingly says "I never got to say thank you." Batman says, "Well, I'm not going anywhere at the moment so if you want - " but before he can finish his sentence Talia steps up onto the roof with them.

Talia: "Hey Bruce by the way I'm pregnant with your kid. Going to name him Damien."

Catwoman slaps Batman.

should definitely end with a lesbian scene with Miranda Tate and Selina Kyle.

No joker ending unless it involves bane or league of shadows...why would you end the story with a random joker ending?

i would like it to end with Bruce hanging up the suit and shutting down the batcave. (maybe some reference to a possible 4th film) just so Nolan and Bale can come back for Dark Knight Returns :D

or just the hanging of the suit, shutting down the batcave...then visiting Alfred, and his parents graves some weeks later or so. while at the graves the bat signal comes on...and in Nolans style, we question whether or not he picks up the cowl again.

I'm beginning to have difficulties separating the joke suggestions from the real ones.

LMFAO. Good one!!

How about this?

Batman visits his parents grave, then he walks to the grave beside them, it's Alfred's grave. He mourns. He finds Lucious Fox's grave next. He looks elsewhere and runs his hand through his hair.

He walks to the grave besides that one, it's James Gordon's grave. Bruce is now getting misty eyed.

He walks a couple of steps more. It's Harvey Dent's grave, along with Rachel's. Bruce is bursting into tears by now.

He struggles to find the ability to move his feet, but manages to keep walking. He finds Selina Kyle's grave. He smiles, remembering a passionately good time. He looks next to Kyle's and sees Miranda Tate's grave. He blows his nose.

But he keeps walking. He finds a grave that reads "Jason Todd". He seems puzzled and moves on.

Then he finds the grave that belongs to Bane. Bruce smirks and spits on the grave. He feels his back, which is still in pain. He looks up: the bat signal is calling him. Cut to black. A film by Christopher Nolan.

Wow.. thats actually a really good idea...
Or Clooney could walk into the room and speak with Bale

Love it.

OR, the film could end with Alfred complaining about how he has so much cleaning + dusting to do around Wayne Manor that he demands his own butler. Bruce thinks about it. We get a 5 minute montage of Bruce walking back and forth in his study, dissolving with shots of him sitting with some nice studious glasses with his hand on his chin.

He finally makes a phone call. CUT TO: Bruce opens the door, "Welcome, Mr. Schumacher. You will be my butler's new butler."
Bruce and Joel Schumacher turn to the camera and smile. Cut to black. A film by Christopher Nolan.

I think it's the whole Nolan says this story has an ending thing. Some people are interpreting it as that Batman will die.
If he 'died' similarly to "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader", I'd be more on board. But with enough to suggest he's still alive. Bruce speaking with his mother in apparent death, while the cast reflect on his life - each giving their own account regarding his possible demise/absence. "You don't get heaven or hell. Do you know the only reward you get for being Batman? You get to be Batman." I don't know about you, but that would be a pretty cool line to end on.
