The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 2

Except the whole pretense that fans on the internet used to justify his choice in killing Zod--that only by taking a life would he learn the value of never doing it again--is jettisoned immediately since in his first scene in BvS, Superman likely kills that terrorist warlord. And later, he almost kills Lex Luthor, which makes his choice of saving his life from Doomsday later even more baffling.

The point is that if there was some lesson for Superman to learn from the death of Zod, it was muted and lost in the sequel, which continued with Clark being a murderous, selfish jerk that could never see past his own doorway.
Ehh, that lesson he was supposed to learn by killing Zod never crossed my mind before seeing fans defend it that way, I saw he had no other choice at that time.
At least that did not turn him to a space wandering self exiled recluse in the movie.

Heh, it actually reminds me of the Schumacher era of Batman movies. Pretty to look at but no substance and boring to watch.
What I find to be the dumbest moment in those two movies.

It's a fun moment. I also like the part where Ivy tells Freeze that she will help him grab his rocks.

Is Superman killing a terrorist warlord a bad thing, though? I mean, the guy was literally digging his own grave by being a terrorist warlord.

How are the animated DKR movies - do they come recommended?

Even terrorist warlords deserve to be tried at court. Not being shattered to pieces by a superbeing tackling you through several walls.

Do what you need to do is how I look at that kind of situation, though I couldn't see the Superman from the 00's Justice League doing the same as Cavill's. What about the cartoon version of DKR - good as the source and worth picking up if you're a fan of the comic?

He didn't need to do what he did. Superman is fast enough to take the gun from the terrorist's hand before he can act.

The revisionist arguments to BvS not having a chance to make it to a billion are hilarious reading. 2 weeks ago a billion was guaranteed in the bag according to the consensus. Now it's "It's only the second movie in the franchise. It was never going to make a billion".

They forget that TDK is the second in its franchise or ignore it?

It is pretty good and it is definitely worth watching IMO. I do not think it is as good as the comic though. I do not think the movies show the struggles that Bruce went through anywhere near as well as the comic did. That played a big part in the comic for me. As it normally is, the book is better than the movie.

They ignore everything logical. Batman on his own can pull in 2 billion with two movies. But Batman combined with Superman can't. Not even with no competition in theaters.

There are people blaming the tone of the movie and saying that is the problem. They are forgetting that the reason they are going for a dark tone in the first place is because of the success of Nolan's Batman movies, both with critics and at the box office. You can definitely have success with a dark tone. The problem is that Snyder is not doing it right. There are other problems too of course.

TDK was only dark. This is an elusive work of art more in line with Terrence Malick than Chris Nolan. Snyder has made a 250 billion art film. Hence why we don't get it. Only a select few does.

Yup. Snyder just thought it would be cooler for Superman to smash the guy through the wall(s) :hehe:

BvS fanboys/ Snyder-chasers remind of religious fundamentalists. Insanely dedicated to defending their sacred texts, but ironically not understanding it as much as less fervent believers or non-believers.

Do terrorists allow interviews?
Whenever I see videos published by terrorists it is mostly footage released from their end.

Speaking of which, someone had the chance to snipe Bane in TDKRises, probably more than once.

I love how CinemaSins Jeremy commented on the newsroom scene.
"They've never been to a newsroom before"

This is hilarious;

Oh man, hahahahaha

This is really an awkward moment for DC. I still am somewhat shocked that the reaction to the movie was this bad. Even as an admitted skeptic, I would've figured the reception would be no worse than Man of Steel and most likely better considering the Batman factor. I don't think anyone saw this coming, except maybe Warner Brothers (like Drew McWeeny reported).

Please Suicide Squad be good.

Yes please, be impressively good.

Two polls will come:
Batman v Superman vs Civil War
Where I'm guessing some BvS apologists will come and say: "BvS all the way, CW was a bore"
"BvS was smart, CW has too many jokes, and was stupid."
"CW has Spider-Man, three in 15 years? BAH.
BvS has Superman meets Batman, that is long overdue."
And fewer of them will do the infamous move of creating secondary accounts to back their arguments, and vote in the poll.
Then comes C. Lee, clears all their votes from the poll result, and bans all main and secondary accounts.
And some of them will come whining: "C. Lee, you unfairly banned me, I cry foul."

Not an unusual kind of chaos for the Hype.

The other one will be:
Suicide Squad vs Batman v Superman
This will probably be calmer.

WB are in denial though. They think the ratings don't matter, the latest box-office drop doesn't matter, so all that matters to them is that it had a huge opening weekend. They're either playing this happy persona in public or they're ******ed.

Civil War could have a better flow and script and I might choose BvS over it if it's the same old generic Marvel crap. At least Snyder had some balls to make something a little different and not the same **** over and over again. Sure, the final battle felt like MoS, but he made some bold choices that didn't quite land well. Marvel might do something really predictable, and throw in their usual stupid jokes that make the kids laugh. All that 'fun' stuff. I want to be impressed. They can make some bold decisions with Civil War. As of now I'm expecting to choose bats v supes in any poll.

They aren't in denial. They are just feigning optimism for the media. Behind closed doors I am sure heads are turning.

The snyderchasers are in denial though. "Hey, at least it surpassed all the phase one Marvel films, LOL".

Yes, thank goodness that the combined might of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman managed to outgross Thor. Real uphill battle there.
