The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 2

I like Spider-Man 3. The campy/comedic stuff people complain about is pretty Raimi to me. Franco is great and so the gifs.

Raimi basically gave you Stan Lee's version of the symbiote story... and I rather enjoyed it.

Both him and Nolan are, frankly, in a league of their own.

Spider-Man 3 freakin' broke my heart, lol.

Even if Spidey is done justice in Civil War I'm still not holding my breath on the solo film.
Me too.

Rumors of Peter's best friend being an Asian character for the sake of being "PC" doesn't sit well with me. Even the rumored John Hughes tone has me a little concerned.
She's not Asian.
Anyway, MCU changed ethnicity of a number of characters, and changed the gender of one, I didn't mind those, don't see something to worry about for taking a non-white character (who I think should be Hispanic, if they go by Gonzalez) portrayed by a non-white actress.

It was Stan's idea?
I remember the Alien Costume part 01 being written by both Stan Lee and Avi Arad.

I actually think a John Hughes tone would be perfect for Spidey. It's when we get into Venom and Carnage, that's where the tone needs to shift a bit.

Seriously?

I'm baffled by his John Hughes comment. If anybody knows anything about Spidey, especially if he's going to be a teen...a John Hughes tone should get you excited because it's PERFECT for the character.

So Batman v Superman will make less than Man of Steel, what a joke. Who else thinks if it wasn't for Ben's potential as a writer/director, that WB would be crawling back to Nolan? If Justice League makes that kind of money and gets mediocre reviews, they can't be ignorant anymore. Snyders gotta go *Daggett voice*

Why would Spidey have ethnic friends anyways? Where does he think he lives in, Queens, NY? Lol.

I am so jazzed for Civil War. I do feel bad for DC/Warner, though. They're probably about to get clowned even more next month. But they did bring it all on themselves by putting all their chips on Snyder.

My hope is Civil War and Apocalypse both deliver. However, in that case, the DC universe will look very shaky. But they did bring this on themselves by giving Zack Snyder the movie.

I honestly don't feel bad for Warner. They knew what they were getting into with Snyder at the helm. They should have known, at the very least. But they thought they could fall back on the novelty aspect in a post-Avengers world.

They brought this on themselves.

I don't feel bad for them either. They were just being impatient and greedy to catch up to Marvel, instead of doing their franchise the smart way and establishing the heroes in their own movies before putting them together.

It's going to make more. It's just bringing in a smaller profit.

It should have been

-Man Of Steel
-Man Of Steel 2 (with Luthor and a few scenes from Batman, treating Bruce the way they treated Diana in B v S)
-Suicide Squad (first Batman and Joker scene)
-Wonder Woman
-The Batman
-Justice League Part 1 or "Trinity" (centered around the Trinity and another villain. Introducing Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg in the same way that Wonder Woman was in B v S. Darkseid arrives near the end and begins the whole Mad Max ****)
-Flash
-Aquaman
-Suicide Squad 2
-Justice Part 2 (or Part 1?) Darkseid, introduce Green Lantern in a cameo.
-Wonder Woman 2
-Green Lantern Corps
-The Dark Knight Returns (this is where Bats and Supes have their showdown, after a few movies of working together)

Humor me, it's Sunday and im bored :yay:

You know, the way Batfleck was shoved into this world? it was just as weird as the suggestions for Bale being mixed into the Snyderverse. I mean, don't get me wrong, the execution was solid in the beginning of the movie. But it's still a bit shoehorned in there if you think about it. They needed a way for Bruce to hate Superman. So they put Gotham/Metropolis right next to each other. They made Batman active for close to 20 years during the events of MOS even though it was never planned and we never see the batsignal go off in that movie (cmon, Lex saw the bat symbol form in the sky from a rooftop in the sequel). They show us that there was a Wayne Enterprises building right smack in the middle of downtown Metropolis, and THAT was the huge building that fell down 9/11 style. The one that Zod and Superman were fighting inside. Wayne is mainly pissed because his co-worker/friend that says 2 lines in the movie, was killed that day. That's his motivation and it starts his paranoia.

Im okay with all that because of the execution. But i don't see how that's any more logical than the Bale suggestions a few years ago.

In fact, i think it was a little more simple, actually. And not as convenient as the reasons for Diana's presence in Metropolis, or Bruce's for that matter.

It was something like "Oh, MOS takes place 5 years after the events of TDKR. Bruce and Selina see the alien invasion go down on television, like the rest of the planet, in Italy." Well, how about this. Metropolis and Gotham are quite a few cities apart from each other. Bruce heads back to Gotham because he can't stand not helping humanity in some way. It's in his nature. He doesn't care about returning to Gotham or throwing on a batsuit. That part of his life is over. But the guy believes that he would be of better use in Metropolis than Europe. He doesn't know if he should go as a disguise or let the cat out of the bag that the playboy billionaire is alive and well...but he'll figure it out...it's beside the point. He'll take the heat from the public if he has to. Bruce arrives, convinces Lucius to work with Lexcorp, to rebuild Metropolis together. Or he simply does it himself, which he gets in **** for by the public. People call him a coward but he's used to it. Bruce and Lex work together (not Eisenberg, maybe Cranston or Phoenix as rumored). I would have liked to have seen Man of Steel 2 with Bruce and Lex and a physical Superman villain, than what we got. No need for Batman even. Until a sequel where Bruce has to think about assembling the Justice League.

From there you can deal with "Robin", Alfred, Lucius retiring, Gordon possibly retiring. Even if you recast every actor with the current actors (Affleck, Irons, Simmons etc) it works just as well in my opinion. Going into this Snyder movie, i thought the reboot idea was a MUCH more logical way to go about it. But after seeing this messy Batman vs Superman movie, where the studio obviously tried catching up to Marvel in a crammed sort-of way, now im not so sure.

Aren't Gotham and Metropolis next to each other in the comics as well?

Batman only operates at night.

The locations range depending on the writer, but they're both generally assumed to be on the Northeast coast.

Personally I always imagined Gotham in Connecticut and Metropolis on Long Island (attached to New York).

Domestically?
Internationally it made more, according to wikipedia.

Just to clarify, it's already made more than MOS both domestically and internationally after 17 days compared to the MOS 98-day total.

Metropolis is located in Lewes, Delaware, Gotham in Cape May Point, New Jersy. They are the twin Cities on opposite sides of Delaware Bay.

Thanks Wikipedia.

Even if that's the case, i don't remember them being that close in the comics. Where you can look out your window in Metropolis and see the bat signal in the sky.

When the people of Metropolis are looking out, they are hoping to catch a glimpse of Supes.

I think they could've made the Bale thing work from a writing standpoint, if they did a more of a slow-burn thing where he doesn't immediately jump back into being Batman like shauner said.

But I think rebooting was probably the best option. Would Bale have really kept playing the character in this universe for another decade? Plus, then you're tied to his version's history which wouldn't really work with everything they're trying to do with Joker, Harley, etc. It just really has little benefit other than the initial shock-factor the more you think about it.

Again, I'm just really glad that Nolan's universe remains self-contained. Being a self-contained franchise with an ending is a precious rarity in today's cinematic day and age. Plus, Batfleck was the near-universally agreed upon best part of the movie.

Thats why I suggested recasting Bale, Ledger, Caine, Oldman, JGL, Hathaway with Affleck, Leto, Irons, Simmons etc. Build it slow. Bale could have done 3 movies and it would have lasted 4 years. We all know Hathaway, JGL, Oldman would have done it in a heartbeat. Not so sure about Freeman or Caine, but you can always limit them to short appearances or even write off their characters as retired/moved out of Gotham. I always thought you can keep the trilogy as a thing for solo batman films, and use Bale's Batman in cross-overs only (Batman vs Superman, Justice League Part 1 & 2). Use the trilogy as the foundation for the DCEU. Instead, they put everything on Zack Snyder's vision, starting with Man of Steel. Even though his Batman is supposed to be active for 18 years before MOS happened. Stuck introducing a new Batman with 20 years of his career not seen or explained, instead of having origin stories for both before they even meet.

I do agree with the fact that the trilogy will stand on its own now. Away from aliens, greek gods roaming the earth, metahumans, cross-overs. But come on, it's not like you can't write any version of Batman into an extended universe. There's a correct way to do it.

Ill always be excited for a new Batman series, and this one has potential. But i guess im feeling the Nolan nostalgia since Batman v Superman came out and turned out to be a mess. Im bored and thinking of ways to continue the Nolanverse. Aesthetically, a lot of the stuff Zack did with Batman (suit, cave, vehicles) i would have done with Bale's version if it had to continue in some way. Even the voice modulator. I can even see Blake's Batman using a voice modulator once the city fears or embraces the resurrection of this BatGod. I wish DC would come out with a comic series that continues it in some way. Work Heath's Joker in there no problem. Same with the Burtonverse.
