The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 3

He was actually playing Hal, just wearing a Ryan Reynolds face mask.

WTF? Did Johns really ghost direct Green Lantern? I had no idea. If that's the case, then i'm truly worried.

Batlobster has me worried too. :funny: He brought up a great point. Does Ben love this character or only Dark Knight Returns?

Jett seems to think a Flash movie won't happen. He could be right.

Im quite pleased too. Some of the cast and Snyder are so arrogant about this universe that it makes me not want to see movies like Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg or even Justice League. I swear if it wasn't for my curiosity of Darkseid and Jim Gordon, i would not give a rat's ass about that movie.

Well, i still don't care, but i'm willing to pay for opening weekend. One of the reasons why i'm trying to behave myself on this forum lately is because i can't wait to stay on this forum for as long as possible. I can't wait to discuss the upcoming slate with you guys. This past month has been a blast. Hilarious stuff.

Another reason why i've been behaving myself...i see what it's like to come off like a total A-Hole. All i have to do is go to the Batman v Superman section and say to myself "ok, dont behave like those people, like a Batfleck...be nicer." :hehe:

I'm not paying a cent for JL unless it's a good film by consensus. WB shouldn't be profiting from ****

That's true. If it's terrible, i shouldn't be helping them out. If it looks like the same criticisms, ill probably wait a week.

Jeff Sneider says WB like the flash script but want a more experienced director. This could be true. Maybe they're being extra careful. We know they're having arguments with Snyder.

Lol sorry to worry you. Despite some concerns, I'm going to give Ben the benefit of the doubt and assume he knows there's more to the character than Dark Knight Returns and that he'll pay attention to the controversial response his murderous Batman has gotten. I'm just saying that I think he saw playing that extreme Batman as a "way in" to the character where he wouldn't be seen as trying to pick up where Bale left off.

I know this probably makes me a bit of a softie, but even though I don't care much for MoS or BvS, I do feel kind of bad about the situation WB is in. Mainly because I appreciate them being a director-driven studio that has a history of being willing to back non-cookie cutter directors (which has paid off in the past and led to some of my favorite films), but from the moment Zack Snyder was announced as the director of Man of Steel I could never shake off the suspicion that he wasn't the right guy for the job. They doubled down on him even after Man of Steel's mixed reaction though, so it's not like this should have come as a total surprise. I'm not losing sleep over this mind you, these are all very highly paid people at the end of the day. But anytime you have executives and creatives at extreme odds with each other, that usually never leads anywhere good. It's just a huge clusterf*** all around.

I feel like a broken record on this next point, but I'm just praying to the comic book gods that Suicide Squad works in a big way. It needs to be better than just 'decent' to start turning the mood around IMO. The past month has been kind of surreal and "fun" in a train-wreck you can't look away from sort of way, but it will just start to get legitimately depressing if WB keeps releasing misfire after misfire and we just have nothing but nonstop negativity going on in the fanbase. There's enough that interests me with the non-Snyder movies to keep going if the movies turn out good. Justice League in general has never really been my bag as a Batman fan, so I never had the highest hopes for that. I'm just going to expect another Zack Snyder movie there the way I did with BvS.

Also, Joker- so jealous you've seen Civil War! What were your thoughts on Tom Holland as Spidey? I know you're a big Raimi/Tobey fan.

I shouldn't be pleased about this, because I want a great DCEU. But if they're going to churn out half baked rubbish like BvS, then this is the consequences they should suffer for it.

I am enjoying this trainwreck very much. This is what happens when you put Zack Snyder in charge of running your major, multi-year tentpole strategy. Between Snyder's mediocrity and his baffling behavior, plus the annoying nature of the more zealous Snyder fanboys, I am quite pleased at this outcome. It should be a humbling experience for Snyder and some of the fans, but I doubt it. Oh, well.

I loved him. He is the quippy, charming, and funny Spidey that fans have been yearning for. We all know some found Tobey not talkative enough, or Andrew too obnoxious. Tom cannot be accused of either. He's the lovable quippy funny Spidey.

His Peter Parker is a perfect blend of geek, heart of a hero, loves his Aunt May. He has that kind of awkwardness Peter has. I honestly can't fault the guy in the scenes we got with him. I knew he was in good hands as Marvel are impeccable at handling their heroes.

Oh and I know it's a given now to stick around for after the credits with Marvel movies, but definitely do for CW. You get another Peter and Aunt May scene.

Ill give Ben the benefit of the doubt too. What i worry about with that Batman movie is, well, Suicide Squad. If Leto lets me down or if the movie ends up having some stupid villain that isn't even shown in the trailers...that could kill my buzz for that movie AND the solo bat.

I want it to be on the level of Guardians, Winter Soldier, Iron Man in terms of quality, but obviously darker.

Is Marisa Tomei still hot? :cwink:

I think i know the answer!

I bet WB are kicking themselves for not being smart and WAITING to see how BvS performed first before rushing into JL with Snyder. Talk about not looking where you're leaping.

Oh yes. They didn't try and age her like they did with Martha Kent's actress.

Nice. I mean, I haven't heard a single negative thing about him and I'm not surprised. I never had any doubt that Marvel would do anything less that nail it with their flagship character, but I'm really excited to see for myself.

I've recently been rewatching the previous Spidey movies to kind of get myself geared up for this and I've kind of re-fallen in love with Raimi's first two films. I really do think Tobey (in the first film especially) was pretty much perfect as a Silver Age Peter. Yeah his Spidey wasn't as quippy as he could've been, and when he did his jokes were pretty corny...but overall I still think it was an excellent take on the character, albeit not necessarily the modern version. I still think Raimi deserves an enormous amount of credit for what he did with those movies and where the genre is today as a result.

That said, I'm totally ready to see Tom Holland own this role and what Marvel does with the character.

If all goes smoothly, Holland could be playing the role as long as Jackman has been Wolverine. I think Marvel will position him to be on Iron Man's mascot status after Downey retires from Iron Man.

Can you believe this; http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Spid...ar-Than-Superman-Had-Dawn-Justice-128037.html

Spider-Man had more lines in his role in CW than Superman did in BvS.

Oh yeah, I love Raimi's movies, and 12 years later I still rate Spider-Man 2 as one of the best CBMs ever. So does Kevin Feige, and he said that's the standard they have to live up to with their solo Spidey movie.

I'd be surprised if Holland doesn't win over most fans in CW. He is ridiculously good.

I just don't understand the sense is letting a guy like that be in charge of the DCEU, smh.

So, Joker, were you Team Cap or Team Iron Man? Did you switch sides at any point during the movie?

Oh my god you're right.

Tom Holland might still be Spidey in 20 years. I'll be 50 then. :wow:

What do you think about RDJ being in Honecoming based on CW, Joker? Do they have the requisite chemistry?

I was Team Cap all the way. Never switched sides. I could understand Stark's point of view, and there's one really hard hitting scene early in the movie that sets Tony on his path to thinking the way he does in this. But still Cap had the right idea. Heroes are not perfect, they can sometimes make mistakes, but they do far more good and the world is much safer with them being free to act when needed.

They were an instant click. Hilarious together. Fantastic chemistry. I am all on board for Tony being in the Spidey solo.

How was Chadwick as Black Panther?

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I think he was terrific. He starts out as such a likable friendly guy, and then when the crap hits the fan he becomes this intense driven character with a big axe to grind.

CW is a brilliant showcase of how to create believable feuds between characters. Like I said there's not just the one between Cap and Tony. There's a few in this movie. All of them are solid, believable, and you can't look at them and say they could have easily been avoided like Batman and Superman's farcial little spat in BvS.

The case of Geoff Johns makes me glad Paul Jenkins did not try his hand at directing, both of them wrote great runs before making less pleasant runs to sit through.
