The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 6

Agreed, Logan looks the best so far. And if it lives up to its potential it could end up being an all-timer for the genre.

If DC strikes out again this year, at least they can probably count on The Lego Batman Movie for their first fresh Tomatometer since 2012. I'm biased, but that's the one I'm most excited for besides Logan if we're counting it.

Ben definitely didn't deserve that razzie nomination, as he was solid all around. Simply lumbered with weak motivation and questionable dialogue.

Notice how Batman-News reported on Suicide Squad's lone Oscar nomination, but neglected to report on the razzie noms?

That site is becoming increasingly nauseating. Even the twitter nonsense is hard to take.

Do you guys think Affleck deserved the razzie nom? He was kinds monotone and boring. But it wasn't really enough of an affront to be worthy of a razzie.
Overall Ben was fine. Nothing more or less. He doesn't deserve that nomination. He's not wooden like Cavill, but he's very one-note the entire time, which makes for a boring performance. Some of that was his fault, a lot of that was in Terrio's writing and Zack's direction.

What do you guys think will be the best superhero movie of this year?

For me, nothing looks better than Logan. First of all, it looks like a movie. None of the awful color grading of the Marvel films or the pretentious gloominess of DC. The performances look top notch. The film seems to be earning its weight.

Next up is Thor 3. I know, we haven't seen any footage yet. But I have this sneaking feeling that Marvel wants to prove itself on its weakest link and Waititi is a clever dude. He is gonna come up with something surprising.

I am slightly concerned about GOTG 2. It looks like more of the same as the first one. It doesn't seem to be broaching untested waters. It may suffer from diminishing returns syndrome.

Homecoming looks fun. But that's about it. It doesn't seem to be doing anything special.

Wonder Woman looks great. But it's DC. With them you can never be too optimistic.

Justice League may end up being the worst of the year for obvious reasons.

Logan looks great but i'm worried about the third act and the fact that it's supposed to be in an alternate universe.

I don't give a damn about Thor but it wouldn't surprise me if this ends up being the best one of the franchise.

Guardians trailers are a mixed bag. Love the vibe again, and Drax got a lot of laughs out of me. But the baby groot stuff...well...hopefully there's not too much of that. Pumped for Stallone and Russell though!

Didn't like the Homecoming trailer. I like what Keaton is doing but i'm worried about the writing. Worried that Sony got their way with that "more action" request. Don't know if that's true, but i heard that Marvel wanted full-on John Hughes and Sony wanted an action spectacle. Looks like it's somewhere in the middle which could be good but it still worries me because a lot of what i saw in the trailer didn't impress me. Gave me that "SAME OLD S**T" feeling. Hope it's just the cut of the trailer.

Wonder Woman looked great to me at first, but that's because i was putting it next to the forced Justice League trailer. The more footage i see from Wonder Woman, and the more i revisit that trailer, the more i see flaws in Gal's acting and the slow-motion is already getting on my nerves. I really hope this is awesome but i'm expecting a 50 or 60 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, just like Man of Steel.

I guess I would have to go with one of the Marvel movies being the best. It is hard to not back them coming out on top at this stage.

I love Keaton and he rarely puts a foot wrong, but I didn't get anything from him in that trailer. He was a generic bad guy with generic dialogue (''...I will kill you and everyone you love'').

Well dialogue yeah, but i liked how menacing he was. I haven't seen him play a bad guy like that since the mid 90's?

I don't think Ben deserves the Razzie nomination.

Logan does look aesthetically better than Homecoming and the DCEU movies, I need to see a trailer for Ragnarok.
Perhaps Logan will end up being the finest of them all.

Affleck probably didn't deserve the nom, but he wasn't that good either so it isn't exactly an argument that I would waste much time with. He's better than Clooney. He's far behind Bale.

It isn't like it is a truly egregious nomination, like if they nominated Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool or Benedict Cumberbatch for Dr. Strange or something like that.

Agreed, but I love me some Keaton and I'm sure he'll elevate that role. I imagine he'll be one of the high points of that film.

Awesome creepy/villainous Keaton performance in this:

"What if Bruce Wayne became a creepy murderer instead of a badass killer?"

He's stalking Detective Hothead as well. Full circle.

^ LOL. Terrific movie that Pacific Heights. Probably Keaton's most intense performance.

I respect Ayer for coming out and acknowledging his mistakes. Too bad Snyder is too stuck up his own rectum to do the same.

Ouch. That sucks for Affleck. I hope his confidence isn't shaken for directing Batman.

I saw it... it was his attempt at making a Scorsese gangster film, but it turned out to be a gritty Dick Tracy.

Hey guys, look what I've been told about repeatedly expressing my dislike of BvS and knocking down the DCEU (despite admitting enjoying 2/3) in the outlets allowing that kind of talk.
So? Doesn't change the fact you are a biased troll when it comes to DC.
Aziz is a DC hater
So shh, no dissing DCEU here anymore, we gotta stop being trolls.

Or, you can simply laugh and shrug it off.
I just wanted to share this with you folks.
The one that told me that is not a DCEU extreme fanboy.

Even though I do get some enjoyment out of the films (cinematography, score, production design and costumes) I do think it's more fun to talk about the negative aspects of the DCEU.

‘The Daily Show’ Realizes Trump Is Somehow Also Heath Ledger’s Joker

There’s a certain theatrical nihilism to Donald Trump that lends itself well to Batman’s greatest nemesis, as we’ve seen Mark Hamill repeatedly demonstrate with his Joker-ized take on Trump tweets. As it turns out, the parallel works eerily well with other Jokers, as The Daily Show discovers with horrifying precision.

Last night’s Daily Show took on Trump’s recent ABC interview with David Muir; the first since last week’s inauguration. Anyone with a Twitter account could likely make some of the same observations about debunked voting fraud claims or the immigration ban, but Trevor Noah took things one horrifying step further with Trump’s comments about the world being “an angry place.”

Toward the end of the video below, such nihilistic sentiment becomes extremely familiar when you overlay the makeup of Heath Ledger’s Joker from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

What is it with this guy and aping Nolan’s Batman villains, right? Are we next going to find out Kellyanne Conway was the real Donald Trump all along? Does Jared Kushner have a burlap mask and a briefcase full of fear gas?

The Nolan-verse may be over, but boy, if the next few years aren’t going to feel like we’re living it.

ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel mined his network’s interview with President Donald Trump and came up with gold. Kimmel noted how cartoon-ishly villainous Trump sounded at times during his interview with David Muir – particularly when Muir asked if he thought denying help to Syrian refugees would result in more anger from Muslim communities .

To demonstrate, he presents another Kimmel Kartoon in which POTUS’ voice is inserted into a Justice League cartoon scene, in which The Man of Steel meets The President of Gold.

Now I want to watch that cartoon scene.

I wonder when will we see someone comparing him to the dictator from V for Vendetta.
