The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 7

Mixed feelings. I wouldn't say it's crap. It looks a lot more simple and lighter than BvS, and I can appreciate that since some of the visuals are also pretty stunning. At least Aquaman and Flash have a personality. But here's the thing..

The dialogue is corny. Most of those nice shots are probably in the first act when they "come together". The action looks like it's straight out of a video game. Waaay too much CGI for my taste. Cyborg is dull and looks bad. J. K Simmons looks fantastic as Gordon but I can see that scene being useless and cheesy. Everyone seems so excited, like the Avengers, to kick ass. Nobody looks like they're worried about what's happening. That was one of my problems with the Avengers, and they're just repeating it. Expect a lot of "WOOOO!" and "YEAAAH!" From the heroes when they're about to kick ass lol. Which is weird if you look at how grumpy everyone was in BvS.

My biggest problem was Gal Gadot. I saved that for last. She looks GORGEOUS in this trailer. She definitely won't be complaining when this premieres because Zack is making her look like a million bucks. But her acting is downright...terrible. She delivers every line the same. Incredibly bland delivery.

Oh one more thing. Not only is Superman the predictable surprise for the last half of this movie (and perhaps the next trailer)...but are they really going to sell a movie where Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg are fighting faceless aliens with wings? Is that your premise? Because that's incredibly weak and it lacks imagination.

Looks like Justice League is basically the Doomsday fight from BvS protracted to the whole movie.

it definitely feels like someone pulled zack aside and told him to lighten things up a bit tonally, doesn't it?

There's so much I don't like about it that you come to expect with any Zack Snyder joint, so that makes it easier to digest. The dark, gloomy gray color palette, cyborg's design (cyborg in general), still not crazy about Gadot, the completely computer generated environments, I could probably go all day.

But I didn't find myself hating it. Simmons as Gordon is already great though, far and away my favorite aspect of the trailer. He's gonna be a diamond.

Bro, bro, bro. These characters are like the American myth. We're just expanding into why they're so mythological with mythic shots of them battling the final level from Gears of War. It's gonna' be mythic. We got this, bro

Lollllllllll stuff like this never fails to tickle my funny bone

So it's time for a return for good movies, and I'm in with Batman Begins.

My nitpicks 15 minutes in:

Shaky cam during the prison fight scene still makes it look like it was Bruce that got his knee injured, only to see it's another prisoner.

How did they allow Ducard to be in the solitary cell before putting Bruce in it? That's an odd choice.

I'm amazed Bruce managed to find his way to the right flowers, he could have been lost.

Favorite moments of these 15 minutes:

"Prison fight scene"

These two quotes from Thomas serve the story well.
"We fall so we can learn to pick ourselves up"
"All creatures are afraid Bruce, especially the scary ones."

Thomas Wayne has guts, he talks to a mugger holding a gun to his face calmly.

There is no "This is what you get for trying to play hero" quote from Joe Chill.
I watched the Arkham VR walkthrough.

James Gordon talking to Bruce is done fine here, no: "My parents were killed too" like the first episode of Gotham.

Chip, don't be surprised if Gordon is in one scene in this entire film.

I'm pretty sure we already know thats what it'll be, but I'm just grasping for any positives I can find.

At least the solo film has some interesting possibilities for Reeves to play with.

I said one negative thing about the JL trailer on tumblr and I got this...

And the same negative comments about JL and the DCEU are coming from the same posters.
We get it. You hate it. Move on.

So people are only allowed to keep talking about it if they love it? We get it. You love it. Move on. The same people are loving it!

he can say whatever he wants in here as long as he remains civil and doesn't offend anyone. There are no strict guidelines that he has to like something in order to post about it in a lounge for a completely separate film.

I'm beginning to think this is less about "We don't want to cause friction on the boards" and more of "You shouldn't be able to say something negative about something I like."

"The other kids won't believe me"
I still don't get why Batman took this as a reason to give King Joffery his periscope.

When Batman was trying to shake off the effects of Scarecrow's gas, he moved his hands in a way that pays homage to the bat dance from episode 1 of the 1966 show.

It was a sweet thing to do. The kid was a believer and an outcast with a rough situation at home. So why not?

No offense Chip, but you're only realizing this now?

This is how its been, with quite a few people, since MOS came out.

I'll say this. While the JL trailer definitely feels like Snyder going full video-game with the visuals and that type of action isn't really my cup of tea, if there's one thing he knows how to do it's those types of visuals. Even with the darker color palette, this looks way more visually appealing to me than The Avengers.

That's me being nice. There are so many things for me to call out here haha, so I figured it'd be easier to just find one positive to mention. I feel like Justice League is blatantly trying to be a "turn your brain off" type of movie, so I'm going to try and judge it on those merits. It's kind of ironic that the DCEU movie where the stakes are at their highest seems to have the lightest tone, especially considering the tone they started from.

So the fanboy defense of 'why does everythang look so fake and artificial' is that 'it looks like the comics'.

Right. Because comic booky automatically means fake looking.

2stupid4u?

It looks like Batman is Germany, Wondy is France, and all the other reluctant members are the other states of the EU.

'UNITE'. This movie is a commentary about having an united Europe. Snyder does it again. He makes another piece of Art. 2deep4me indeed.

Stephenwolfe is Putin. The parademons are online meme-trolls.

Watched it again. I'm noticing more details and my lord does this movie look like a video game. Just, wow.
