The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 9

I have not seen the Last Jedi as of yet, but the reactions among the fan base definitely remind me of the Dark Knight Rises quite a bit.

The Last Jedi has the most astonishing reaction rate I've seen on this site, I mean even more astonishing than the 2016 Ghostbusters of 74% critics and 40+% audience.

Hardy filmed a scene as a stormtrooper, who discovers Finn in disguise as a First Order officer:

A group of stormtroopers get in the elevator and our heroes are nervous they are going to get caught. One of the stormtroopers slowly turns to Finn and gives him a look. Finn turns around in his Imperial officer uniform and asks him what his problem is. The stormtrooper, played by Hardy with a southern accent, says “I know who you are… FN 2187! Damn boy, I never took you for officer material!” The tension is cut by the reveal that the two grew up together, but the troopers are somehow unaware of FN’s treason. While Finn’s act of desertion is a legend in the Resistance, maybe the First Order hid that information from their army so others might not get the same idea.

In both cases it was brigaded by psychologically unstable fanboys who were upset that their toys were tampered with.

Okay, TDK in 4K is ****ing glorious. Almost like watching it for the first time. The colors are so vibrant and the picture is so crisp that it's unreal. I can't wait to watch the other two films like this.

Even Rachel looks a little less ugly somehow.

Speaking of TDK, the nightclub beatdown is such a great and underrated little scene.

Old BD transfer of TDK made everyone look much uglier. It was an ugly transfer.

To a certain extent, yeah. With this new transfer, you can see every fingerprint and speck of dust on the Batmobile.

I also checked out the big final battle of TDKR in 4K and it was like IMAX quality.

It wasn't until I saw it in 4K that I noticed this scene had a little light rain.

Yup.

The interrogation scene is wild in 4K as you said before, but Batman's egg-head and face look exceptionally awkward while he's sitting down in front of The Joker.

I remember reading Blu-Ray reviews for TDK back in '08 talking about how amazing the transfer was. That it was reference quality. I didn't know you guys were so unhappy with it.

Well, the IMAX shots always looked great on the original bluray, but everything else always looked off to me. Some scenes in particular looked downright ugly (IE the interrogation scene).

Really? Even back then people thought the transfer was flawed. And nobody I read has ever called it reference quality.

The TDK Blu-ray is nahhht good. I mean, it's a fine looking movie and the Blu-Ray is what our eyes got used to but it's not ideal. They used the IMAX print for the transfer which means all the non-IMAX scenes are blown up and therefore lose resolution, making the jumps between IMAX and 35mm even more noticeable. On top of that, it messed up the color timing.

Still waiting on the true 4K side by side comparisons.

Did any of you manage to finish the Catwoman DLC mission in Arkham Knight? That bit with electricity and the herd of robots in the elevator is damn near impossible.
