Attack of the *Official* Relationship Advice Thread

I have seen the "interests" subject go both ways. My brother and his wife have many differing interests. Their attitude about it is "go do what you do" if my brother wants to have guys night with beer, poker and football, or if his wife wants a girls night out with whatever they do. It works for them.

On the other hand, my best friends wife has adopted nearly interest of his, and now becomes "part of the group" when he and I are hanging out playing games and doing nerd ****. That seems to work for them.

So I can cite 2 examples going either way that work. Obviously sometimes it doesn't. Some girls lose interest when they find out I play video games or act. Others think its awesome.

There are women out there that are still deterred by video games?

Yup. Girl I worked with said her and I would have nothing to do if we went out cuz, what would we do, sit around and play video games?

I've had a couple girls assume that just because im a theatre student I have no social skills, and am just a big old nerd sitting around playing video games and dont know how to party and have fun.

Those seem like pretty obtuse statements.

I think a lot of women can be okay with video games as long as with everything in moderation. I don't think a woman would like it, if she came over her bf's place only for him to play video games the entire time she's there.

I usually only play when she's sleeping or working.

No woman wants to be ignored. My GF and I play together all the time and it's a blast. I have found that most women are either jealous or intimidated by gaming.

Everything is cool in moderation. No girl wants to sit around and hang out while her boyfriend/husband is playing videos games, watching sports, finding another way to ignore her, etc.

My wife and I also find plenty of time to do the stuff the other is not interested in.

Those examples aren't methods of ignoring for everyone.

Yeah, I usually play video games when she's watching her reality TV, out at the spa, doing girly spa stuff or usually once a month she'll work a Saturday. She's actually out of town till Saturday though, so playing a good deal of Arkham City this week.

They obviously know nothing about theatre students. :whatever: All my friends in Theatre/Drama are like the wildest, craziest people I know. When I want a good time I hang out with them. My first boyfriend (and now friend) is a media/performing arts major and he parties so hard he has to hang onto the floor most nights.

Sadly, no.

Even if he died I think his liver would keep working.

I don't feel like biology is a strong suit here.

I love video games...I play them more than my boyfriend does. However, I don't know any other woman in real life who plays them. All of my girl friends think that they're boring. :csad:

I wish I played video games now, after watching walkthroughs of Arkham City. :funny:

I joked around with my friend that if her friend played video games in addition to her already liking comics, artist and being attractive, then I would just have to marry her right away.

But seriously, I don't think having a gaming girlfriend is a necessity for me as I've heard it is for other people. But i'd definitely want her to at least tolerate it if I play, even though its not something I ever bring up in a conversation.

She just needs to be accepting of the fact. I know how to save the game and go do something else, so don't hound me if I happen to be playing when you come over/call me.

Same here. I tried to ooze my excitement about Arkham City's release to a lady friend and the response was "we should go see it on opening night!". Sigh* Yeah. . . We'll go see it in theaters that night.

My most recent ex and I had a deal. He could play as many video games he wanted while I was at his house, but for every save/level he made I got a 'save/level tax kiss'.

Unless I was playing. But God of War isn't my thing, although I solved a few levels for him...
