Crowd Reports!!!

Yes people in my theater laughed at the end of that Gravity trailer. I wasn't paying too much attention to it and wasn't sure what they were laughing at.

That happens a lot...I saw Spider-Man 3 at midnight and the audience seemed to like it...came on to the boards and it seemed like people liked it. Sometime on Friday all of a sudden it seemed as if everyone hated it

This is prob due to the fact that the thurs midnight folks were all fans, so you'll usually get a more positive response... then reality sets in on fridays...

I saw the movie at a late afternoon showing (to avoid the inevitable sold-out night shows) and got pretty much zero audience reaction from a roughly 67%-full theater.

I might try for a night showing on another day for a more vocal crowd.

During my midnight screening, my crowd popped big and were legit shocked when Kal-El was wearing the black suit.

You can always tell a wrestling fan based on words use to describe reactions :P (of course, we've already discussed wrestling and your fondness for it, but I had to point it out)

My 2nd viewing was the 10:15 show 2D ... 1/2 full ... crowd laughed at a few moments ... and few claps at the end, nothing crazy. I got the sense that a little slow for some at points in the middle, but towards the end great action and great finishing scene made up for that. Afterward, people sat around wondering about a credits scene, but when the MOS logo appeared and cut to standard credits, most started to get up.

Wrassin' tho....:p But seriously, I can't wait to watch it again in 11 hours with my step-dad in IMAX(which has completely sold for all of tomorrow). It'll be his second viewing and my third.

Ugh, my crowd was dead; no applause, no "Oooo's" or "Awww's."

Same here. There were a few chuckles in the entire Imax theater for a line or two in the movie but other than that it was a graveyard.

The verdict is in, after we have all tried out best to disbelieve the critics..

First: When critics was telling us that MOS was dull, boring, lack levity, all action and no heart, terrible direction and character development...

We: Oh, no, the critics are just stupid.... who listens to critics anyways...

Then...

When the initial Midnight Audiences were Clapping and Cheering,..

We go: See, it's ain't as bad as it sounds.. the critics were wrong...

Now... when the real audiences are actually watching it, we're hearing the exact same mixed-feelings...

GA: The show is kinda boring.. but got some cool action, so it's ok... but too moody, lack of characters..

I think the verdict is in.. MOS is not the movie everyone is waiting for or wanting it to be.. I think it's still a good movie to watch.. definitely better than SR, couldn't capture the magic of STM...

Here's my hope:

Keep Snyder.. get rid of Goyer and his doom and gloom, and all serious and no play approach to making movies.. yes, we have seen TDK and it was awesome, now move on.. it's getting old... let's put some cheer back into MOS the sequel...

Rob. I think u have spoilt urself too much. U might not enjoy the show.

some younger folks seem pleased.....but quite a few older folks walked out during third act.

Don't know what theater you guys were in but the theater I was in last night cheer and clap at the end of the movie. People were talking amongst each other on how epic it was. A sold out show too...

I don't agree with that but i will agree that Goyer need to take a back seat and let some one else do the main writing.

The GA wouldn't say "couldn't capture the magic of S:TM"
Most of the GA want an action movie and they have gotten it. :funny:
That guy is hilarious...

I actually thought that movie looked pretty sweet but everyone else in my theatre laughed at the final shot, which was admittedly kind of goofy, but I still want to see the movie. I think we're in the minority on that one though.

I also want to see it. Alfonso Cuaron directed Children of Men, which is one of my favorite films ever.

I've noticed people who love the movie tend to have enthusiastic crowd reports while people who didn't like it had mixed reaction crowds. I think we tend to project our own feelings about the film into the crowds we see it with.

I was wondering what some older folks, who's familiarity with Superman was the classic interpretation, would think of this movie...

I noticed a few at both of the showings I've seen, but didn't notice anyone walking out. But I was focused totally on the movie, so I wouldn't have noticed even if they did, heh.

At the midnight show I went to, there was moderate applause and lots of chatter. Went to an early show today that was pretty full, but no applause or anything at the end.

Mine were pretty quiet except a few laughs and when Supes snapped Zod's neck. There was a kid sat near and he gasped.

Comments fr 'female friends' are it's a bit boring n like transformers movie. 'Male friends loves it.

I have seen it twice now and 9/10 is my rating. Both shows I attended the crowd was into the movie. I think we sometimes let critics affect how we watch a movie and view a movie. I found myself the first time looking and looking for all the things the critics were whining about instead of just watching the movie. Today I just sat back and enjoyed a hell of a Superman film. I don't know exactly why they didn't love MOS anymore than I understand why they think Inception in spite of it's length and insanely confusing plot is a masterpiece?
