If there is even a glimmer of backlash against the stripper angle, it would only prove to the rest of the world how utterly insecure and stuck-up Americans are about sexuality. This movie is following on the heels of a mass-murdering clown. Whether gratuitous violence was displayed or not, the fact is it dealt with very dark themes, actions, and messages. That movie did a billion dollars.I'd be surprised, really very surprised if Catwoman/Selina Kyle was a "stripper", this sounds like some needlessly dark take. I kind of doubt a Nolan movie about Batman that while adult is a PG-13 movie that tries to capture the teen market as much as the adults would featuring "stripping" as one of it's major plot points. Movies like this seem to like to skirt taboos as much as possible.
Look at The Dark Knight, rich people are not depicted as doing coke, murders are cutaway scenes, and even the Russian drug dealer is only dealing these psuedo-science, ficitious scarecrow drugs. I'd be surprised if an "abused stripper", and typical R rated topic, will be featured at all in these movies. Also the "more well written than the Joker" is a dubious statement, not because it couldn't be true, but because Joker is a far different kind of character.

This is all nice and everything, but for those reasons I stated, I have a hard time swallowing it. Even in X-Men: First Class Angel Salvador is a "stripper", yet it's all only implied through very thinly vieled scenes. Whereas The Wrestler as an R-rated film is totally all frank about it. It's how these movies tend to work. If Selina Kyle is a stripper, I suspect it won't be open about this. Just show some scenes that imply something. I also suspect she won't be shown being a victim of abuse, PG-13 superhero blockbusters try to avoid those topic too.If there is even a glimmer of backlash against the stripper angle, it would only prove to the rest of the world how utterly insecure and stuck-up Americans are about sexuality. If I am to believe that a woman who decides to exploit her sexuality for personal monetary benefit, is worse on any scale of morality, I will be convinced I'm living in a backwards world.
I very much hope this rumor is true, because it's about time a mainstream product dares to question misaligned moral judgments.

.
She sounds like the most interesting version of Catwoman we've had in the movies yet.
It really isn't a moral crusade
, it's just the ratings system Hollywood has adopted. Plus, your point is wrong. PG-13 only allows certain kinds and certain amounts and levels of sexual content, and this certainly is the same with violent content you have in your movie too. Yeah, Joker's a murderous clown, but do you see him physically bite into a man's face like Hannibal Lector, or rip someone's head out of their spine like Predator? No. All of Joker's kills are blood-free cutaways, or victims found after the fact. Did you notice how they evacuted the Hospital before it blew up? That's a PG-13ism. If Bale and Hathaway have sex PG-13 style they'll be depicted getting tipsy then wake up in magical L-shaped sheets. If you want lots of blood and strippers you want a R-rated movie! Batman and TDK are PG-13. And don't bring up that kids can't see R movies, you can download them now without an ID.Ur not alone, I'm lovin' it
I'm not exactly sure what you're critiquing. We can all speculate about her role as a stripper, and at best, guess where they will draw the line. No one here is expecting bare breasts prancing about on stage. Anything short of that, however, is fair game. This is all nice and everything, but for those reasons I stated, I have a hard time swallowing it. I don't know if they outlaw anything specific like that, but you're only allowed up to four uses of "mature content" which includes language, sexual innuendos, and mature or controversial political themes (I've heard they count frames or something like that, you have an alotment before you go over) so I'd say it'd be hard to write a proper "abused stripper" into that mold. Joker, Scarecrow, Carmine Falcone and Ra's Al Ghul did not get long, drawn out origins. Not to say Catwoman won't, but I think she'll just show up, especially sharing screentime with so many others.I'm not exactly sure what you're critiquing. What topics regarding the occupation are explicitly forbidden, according to the RIAA? I am not familiar with any that prohibit it.

I like her too. Not what I was expecting, but I like it. The flowing hair and the luscious lips remind me of Julie Newmar.![]()
The suit could be in stages.HOWEVER it's clear that she isn't wearing the same gloves in the official promotional image. What's up with that?
The more I look at it, the more I hate it. Not a fan.....
