The Dark Knight Rises Details on Catwoman in TDKR

I was thinking of adding something similar to my sig the other day. But it's too late since you already have it. :oldrazz:

I saw Anne's interview on the suit, GOD she's just so charming, and I'm glad to know she thinks I have "excellent taste" I think that, even though the costume wouldn't be even a 70% accurate to Catwoman's popular iconography, what builds the characters in this franchise, specially in Nolan's take on it, is their interpretation, story and acting, I'd rather have a good story and a great actress pulling of a tremendous "larger than life" Catwoman, with a pair of goggles and no ears, than a crappy one with them. I mean, (in my ideology and thoughts, I'm not trying to convince you of my ideas) Halle Berry wore ears, and she was clearly NOT Catwoman.

I like the costume from the neck down and with the mask added I think its gonna look even better. Without the mask its kinda underwhelming for me . Ulitmately , I'm still seeing the film.

If there is even a glimmer of backlash against the stripper angle, it would only prove to the rest of the world how utterly insecure and stuck-up Americans are about sexuality. This movie is following on the heels of a mass-murdering clown. Whether gratuitous violence was displayed or not, the fact is it dealt with very dark themes, actions, and messages. That movie did a billion dollars.

If I am to believe that a woman who decides to exploit her sexuality for personal monetary benefit, is worse on any scale of morality, I will be convinced I'm living in a backwards world.

I very much hope this rumor is true, because it's about time a mainstream product dares to question misaligned moral judgments.

Nice!

Well said and I agree.

Clarify please: by "mask" do you mean "cowl?" Because I'm pretty sure she has a domino mask on under those goggles.

With a Anne's reaction and the rumors of getting the cowl, I dont think there is any reason to freak out. Catwoman is the most marketable new character in this flick and the most iconic. They wont go half assed. Every character has been pretty faithful in terms of looks so far in the series, masks/make up and all.

Mask . I don't think we're getting a cowl. Cowl or not , i'm still seeing the film:cwink:.

I was always partial to the Jim Balent style purple catsuit with free flowing hair...and I'm sort of getting that in the current promo pic (minus the purple). But I'm thinking, along with a bunch of other people, that this is just Catwoman's early incarnation.

Think of the multiple figurines, toys, and busts with different costumes, cowl/no cowl, goggles, masks etc. just for Catwoman. She would probably rival Batman in terms of variety.

Goldmine for WB!

I'm going to be really disappointed if this stripper thing doesn't go through. I'd like to see a dark past for her, and I can't stand censoring movies, so hopefully this source knows what they're talking about. It's also great to hear that she could potentially steal the show; this is only adding to the hype I feel for this movie :woot:

I love that there's an obvious throwback to Julie Newmar's Catwoman. And even if she does end up with a cowl by the end of the movie, I love that there's a little bit of the domino mask feel in there. A nod to the history of the character.

Oh, without a doubt! I loved the mask from TDK the Joker wore and how is was remade from the Cesar Romero one; it's really a DARING LOOK. I also love the Long Halloween/When in Rome/Dark Victory nod with the raised boots and gloves. I think that looks pretty spectacular.

All in all, you know, I can understand the disappointment with no ears, I really can. But I do think there's going to be more to to this, and I expect MANY things that will be awesome about this suit that Anne's talking about; it's really going to be her performance and Chris/John Nolan's portrayal that's going to sell this character. The point is that we haven't been failed yet, and I know with all the films Nolan has made it has only PROGRESSED.

So keep the faith friends; I'll be thirsty to see more, but my thirst is VERY quenced so far. :cwink: :hrt:

Domino mask still doesn't make sense to me no matter which way I look at it. Either Nolan's gone '**** it, it's a movie, it's enough of a disguise', which is pretty much counter to everything else before or it's not meant to be a disguise which begs the question why not just go with a more cat like route if it's not an issue? Find out soon enough, hopefully there's more to this than meets the eye.

I'm havin' too much fun drawin the new suit, ok, guess I'm sold, don't know about you, guys.

Well said. I agree with you 100%.

Did you have a problem with Wolverine's lack of a costume in the X Men films ?

I mean seriously he has n o costume but yet no one seemed to scrutinize him because his performance wassuperb . Same thing will occur here imo.

I think there's a difference in that Wolverine still looks distinctly like Wolverine even without his spandex costume. Though I would love to see a movie with it and that would make Jackman's Wolverine just that much more cool.

Catwoman, on the other hand, simply doesn't look like Catwoman without a distinct cat theme. Even with this suit as we've seen thus far evoking Julie Newmar, even Newmar, Kitten and Merriweather all wore cat ears in their hair. It wasn't just the domino mask and the ears were there even when they weren't wearing the masks.

As I've said previously, the simple fact that Selina puts on a cowl is a defining character trait for her. Modern comic Selina was inspired by Batman to do so, and it started as a means to strike back at her community's exploiters. Which included theft and harsher fighting than Batman, and getting in his way in his fight with Falcone.

I agree with this.

I thought her reaction was very playful in nature.

ummmmm, from what i got in that interview is that that is the Catwoman suit. Now, if she means that suit has gadgets and what not on it........... doesn't matter, that is the final Catwoman suit, and it sucks.

Wolverine doesn't have a damn costume . Catwoman at least has a cat suit .... The double standard here isd ridiculous and by the way because Huge Jackman is so good no one cares , and I have the feeling we will be saying the same thing about Hathaway after the film .

If you don't like the Catwoman costume you should have a proble with the lack of one by Wolverine . Yes he has claws but that Yellow costume is pretty damn well known in the books

wolverine needs facial hair, haircut and the claws. and he is wolverine. catowman needs a bodysuit and at least a mask that has obvious ears or a cowl that looks like it has ears.

If wolverine doesn't need a costuume than Catwoman don't need a mask or cowl . Especially since she hasn't always worn one . The double standards are ludicrious

wolverine is not defined by his costume IMO
