You nailed it. The outsourcing to China and multiple versions definitely sound like they're keeping in a healthy does of relevant satire. We know this movie will also introduce the idea of domestically used drones something that is currently being considered by various police organizations all around the US.
I personally like those little bits and having seen both the Tropa De Elite films several times and personally considering it the best crime dramas to ever appropriately show the vicious cycle of crime and corruption & failure within the institutions designed to stop the former, I feel we're in safe hands.
By the way nobody else has corroborated or confirmed that Drew McWeeny even got his hands on the final script, I know he's claiming he did but we don't really know either way. This script in particular has received a ton of rewrites and there are probably dozens of drafts floating around.
So far I feel good about this project. If turns out to be crap well then so be it but I think some people are breaking down far to early into the game.
