RoboCop Reboot - Part 2

I don't find that it looks cheap (the reboot head look, that is), I just find that it looks very perfect. When Robocop took off his helmet in the original, the appearance was important because it wasn't perfect. The rest of his body was very careful, deliberate--it was designed to look perfect. When he takes the helmet off, you see the reality--that it's anything but smooth and perfect. The the joining of man and machine is turbulent, ugly, and painful--not just physically.

That element isn't a part of the new design, which is a little off putting. That said, depending on the plot and themes of the remake, maybe they have a reason for that.

The new Robocop just looks like another pretty boy in a futuristic suit. Since we haven't seen the movie yet, we don't really know how drastic in appearance Robocop is going to look when he isn't out in public.

I guess I won't mind if he looks so clean, if there's at least one moment where we can see the ugly joining of man and machine. Because right now, he looks just like a guy in a suit. No different when Iron Man opens his helmet. We need to see the flesh grafted to cybernetics.

Honestly the suit looks like a generic scifi swat team member. Even the cops in "Total Recall" looked more robotic

Total Recall was PG-13 so probably will be.

I have a feeling this movie will fade away just as fast on opening weekend.

A depiction of the ghost in the machine. Aesthetically, he is a cyborg. But story wise (and the best part of the original aside from the satire), Alex Murphy under the synthetic, cold robotic exterior is still human.

i completely agree, the ghost in the machine, but judging from the pictures that we have seen, that "cold, robotic exterior'' doesn't exist any more...

looks like they're pushing for "smooth, user-friendly" rather than "cold, robotic"

I hope it's just for convenience. Because if that is his look without the visor. It's a little disappointing, because he doesn't look the least bit creepy.

I doubt that will be the look.

Even with the original films, they didn't ALWAYS do that makeup under the mask. Only when it was needed for the scene.

funnily enough, the non makeup look on the original looks like the current one.

You can still have "cold and robotic" while being streamlined. the "cold and robotic" demeanor has nothing to do with the look.

i would say it does... nothing about what I'm currently seeing visually says "cold, robotic"

that's like trying to say you can still have Superman without the suit.

i personally think that's needed in this film... thats why i dont like this "clean, smooth" look... combining cybernetics with organics is not a smooth procedure

they were filming outside with the helmet on. dont you see that Kinnaman is holding a cigarette in his right hand? he is on a break. dont you see the black plastic around his chin?

Exactly, Snuff. TR was a disaster from the get-go, this ones seems to be in the hands of more capable artists. As always, though, people are judging things out of context.

Is there the same amount of hate with every remake or just this particular movie?
I too hope it will be good. I dont know why people want certain movies to be bad.

I hate remakes. But this is striving to be a reboot, so I actually hope it does well.

Those android cops from T.R. are what I was thinking of when I was picturing how the new Robocop should be like. But not as slim.

These are a combination of those android cops & the original Robocop.

Those aren't successful in making you believe it was a man first. Those look like Androids, not Cyborgs. Robocop is a cyborg. Those take away TOO much humanity.

Like I said in the previous page, I knew people would compare Robocop to Iron Man back in 2008. How predictable have people become? You can color the suit and change the mask of the original Robocop and it will still look like Iron Man. Except Iron Man still looks a video game and at least Robocop looks real.

How about someone manipulate the colors of the original Robocop suit and add it to the new suit? I'd love to see what that looks like.

Kal made a manip.

i love the robocop franchise, but im not that big a fan of the current look that they have for this Robocop... so, i decided to do a little magic in photoshop, and tried to make a more faithful representation to how he looked in the original movie...

i hope it's pleasing to all of you

iron man 2008 looked inspired by robocop. this new robocop looks like iron man mark 9

I get the feeling here that a lot of people *want* this to be the next "Total Recall"... Uh why? I'm hoping this is a good movie and I am certainly not writing it off yet based off a couple of set pictures. Total Recall looked awful. This looks like it has potential. Give it some time before you say its going to be crap. Wait for the trailer. That gives you plenty of time to decide whether or not to see it.

i dont think people necessarily "want" this to be the next Total Recall... i think they fear that it will turn out similar to Total Recall. I'm sure they dont want it to be a failure... i dont want this movie to fail, but hearing that it's being reduced to PG-13, and we dont even have the familiar color scheme on this Robocop, plus this whole "sleek, smooth, easy-going, user-friendly" design... yes, i do fear that is could turn out to be a failure as TR was
