never said they do, i was just pointing out the daftness of his comment about how we should all be positive and no one should complain about the film

Based on what we've heard about the script, and the amount of talent recruited for this one, I'm having trouble believing that the studio has lost faith on this project so quickly... unless the studio intervened and now realize they've done ****ed up.

At any rate, apart of me felt uneasy about a 2012 fall/winter shoot with a 2013 summer release.

It could be the worst movie in the world but its way too popular of a franchise for the studio to give up on it. Maybe they think Feburary is the perfect release time just like how March is a prime month for a blockbuster or two now.

Based on what exactly?

Time to start a new trend. March was never anything before 300

One thing I will say is that there seems to be more and more "bigger" films being released every year. And there are months where there is almost zero, or very weak competition. February, and January come to mind the most. If I were a studio with a film that was good but may have troubles going against well known names and super hero films ect, I would take a risk and put it out in a quiet month.

I do agree March use to be a dead month as well, but lately more and more bigger films are released during those times.

Now what this says about how they feel of Robocop we will not know, I thought the script was great, and I think the director is great as well, but who knows. However regardless of Robo, I kinda wonder if some studios will try to push some of their lesser known films in these quiet months. To me it would make sense, since the rest of the months have become quite saturated.

February is starting to overcome its 'only chick flicks do well' stereotype with Shutter Island, Safe House, and Chronicle doing well to great either early in the month or after Valentine's Day. Passion of the Christ was obviously the biggest February opener ($80M+), but it didn't signal to rival studios that big movies can do well during that month.

I think it may take a few years before it dawns on studios that February can be the next 'big' month. I don't think the Robocop remake will be that film that clues movie execs in, but it could be if it's a good movie and marketed properly.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the push-back and the studio interference rumors but moving a mid-sized film to Feburary isn't exactly a death sentence. The month is relatively low key, so Robocop could have an entire month to itself and score big (if it's marketed correctly and if the reviews are favorable).

i heard that the studio is gonna reshoot joel kinnaman's scene with channing tatum. :woot:

Just read the script. It's awesome. Good story, changes for the better. ED-209s are badass and let me tell you...there's an ED-210.

Judging by the actors and their characters, the performances will be freakin' awesome at least. Lots of Easter Eggs for old fans too

I was thinking the same thing. Chronicle came to mind. Also, Robocop is not that well known a property to the general public at large and this might give it a better chance.

General public for the most part knows the name Robocop even if they never saw the films, tv shows, ect.

He's no Batman, but he's also leagues away from Darkman. Robocop is inarguably a well known property.

He denied those reports.

Anywho, came across this on Tumblr.

Old toy, I think.

I believe it was this very toy that was re-purposed as the Batcycle for the Dark Knight Collection. Kinda funny considering people are saying the new suit looks like a Batman rip-off.

I think Robocop is ingrained into the public lexicon. It doesn't mean that they've seen it but they've heard of it and know the name of Robocop.
