There will be Bat fanatics who watch it 20 times even if they don't like it. Just to spite Marvel.

Like somebody said earlier, the rabid fanbase only makes up a small percentage.

In order for a movie to have long legs, you're gonna need the average/casual moviegoers more than the rabid fans of the source materials.

Fanbase -> 15% of the total viewerships. The rest are ordinary joes who don't care to watch the movie twice. It goes the same way for the Avengers or any other movies.

However, I do believe among the Batman fanbase there would be someone who will watch the movie for at least 15 times at the theater. It's that rabid.
Where did you get that figure from?

And one of them could be dwelling here, in SHH.

Marvel film fanships are mostly bandwagons and recent discoverers. 3-4x repeat watching the Avengers is bordering irrational.

Same. The latest trailer for that was amazing. As was the audio that leaked. It's gonna be truly terrifying i think.

I've been very good and avoided absolutely everything (apart from a few screenshots). prometheus looks amazing, will be interesting to see if it makes money.

I've also been trying to avoid ASM stuff but that is near impossible.
I'm really glad I skipped the avengers 3rd trailer because it gives away WAY too much. I watched the trailer after I watched the movie and the stuff they reveal would have ruined the movie for me.

I've seen avenger 3 times and I'm thinking about watching it a 4th times. so guilty as charged.

As a huge marvel fan whose favorite superhero is Batman, all this back and forth really pains me. Im rooting for both to make an insane amount of dough, and think they both CAN.

can't talk for anyone else but after avengers the next movie on my list is prometheus, a full MONTH later.

I don't see battleship or MIIIB making a dent in avengers' take.
Yep. Next week is Dark Shadows, not a threat. Then The Dictator and Battleship. Can't say either of those is any threat either. Battleship will most likely be another Battle: Los Angeles.

Men in Black III hits on the 25th but, by then Avengers will have had 3 weeks at #1 so, it might drop to #2 by then but, I just don't think MiBIII has the power with it having been so long since the last one.

we kind of need ALL superhero movies to be a success so the superhero movie bubble doesn't burst. I keep expecting it to burst but it keeps getting bigger but all it would take is a 'batman and robin' to shut it (comic book movies) down for 7 years like last time.

Before the movie came out, it was either Empire or Total Film magazine that's said Avengers would bring in around $600 million WW.

WRONG!!! :D

I don't think so. 4, 5, 6 times? That just means you really like it.

20+ viewings? Spending over 200 dollars/pounds? That's insane. You could get a top class hooker for an hour for that money ;)

Finke now saying on track for $200m rather than just possible.

don't see MIB 3 doing anything to avengers. I enjoyed the first one which was, what? 20 years ago? the second one was rubbish, so I have no interest in it. I actually had to force myself to watch the trailer (rather than count down the seconds for the ASM trailer).

and battleship...is a joke.

Everyone, we are witnessing something special:

‘THE AVENGERS’ ALL-TIME BIGGEST! Shocking $200M Record Opening Weekend: Expecting $640+M Global In First 10 Days

It’s now official — Marvel’s The Avengers is a monster worldwide hit for Disney: pic assembled a four-quadrant audience in 2D, Digital 3D, RealD, and IMAX 3D theaters. Hollywood couldn’t be happier because it kicks off the all-important Summer 2012 movie season with sensational numbers. Avengers lived up to its billing as the ‘Superhero Team-Up Of A Lifetime’ by featuring all-in-one pic the iconic Marvel figures Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Nick Fury. Disney says it’s looking at a record $69.7M grosses for Saturday after making $80.5M Friday (including $18.7M midnights) from 4,349 U.S. and Canadian locations, including 3,364 plays in 3D. Studio confirms it’s on track to shatter the domestic weekend opening record with $200M. (Warner Bros’ 3D Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 finale used to hold that record with $169M.) I believe Disney is being overly conservative and the final figure will exceed $200M since Avengers should make over $49M on Sunday. Disney will report exact international numbers later Sunday but says the worldwide total is already $640+M after playing almost everywhere around the globe for the past 10 days including Russia and now China.

$200M?? :wow:

You must not be a recent discoverer like I do. Once a rather neutral movie watcher, got into Marvel stuff thanks to SM2. Begins sway me back to a rather DC supporter, but Iron Man and the following more cohesive Marvel movies set me back to mostly-Marvel for good (perhaps temporarily).

For me twice watching the Avenger in the theater is enough. A number that I haven't exactly fulfilled. :oldrazz: TDKR will have the same amount of viewship from me: 2.

Well I hope that someone works in the movie theater. :yay:

Overachievement sure feels better than underachievement, eh John Carter.. :oldrazz:
