The Avengers The Avengers Box-Office Prediction Thread - Part 3

Avengers is hardly the first to bring 6 superheros together in one film. The x films have been doing it for years(ignore FF here).

Avengers just presented itself as self important and in doing so and so did everyone else.

One thing to learn from this. Fox, it's ok for your films to have more than one star.

You can hardly compare superheroes coming together from individual films to what X-Men and FF did, it's clearly not the same thing.

The X-Men are all mutants and the FF got their powers at the same time, while the Avengers are total mash up of people with VERY distinct backgrounds and ways they aquired their abilities.

And I feel horribly about that.

thanks. I feel better now.

Might i suggest that the next time you feel the urge to defend Nolan's honor...you'd do it on the batboards, and not on boards for other movies?

makes sense that way:cwink:

I wonder why the nolanites are coming here to 'politely' bash the movie.
Are they feeling threatened by it? LOL!

You know, i'm wondering if as a result of this movie's success, sales for Firefly and Serenity will suddenly boost.

Well...they figure it's their job to keep the fans of other CBM in line..

Lol is this Germany in 1941? I'll post whatever the hell I want. And to be clear, I wasn't defending "Nolan's honor" just refuting this ridiculous notion that Nolan is ashamed of the comic roots of the character. And the irony is that you guys were the ones talking about Nolan on the avengers board. If your gonna bring it up and spout nonsense that isn't remotely true then be prepared to discuss it. I liked the avengers and simply came here to say so. It's funny every time I visit here people are going out of their way to bash the batman films. I sense an inferiority complex.

You think this is bad, go check out IMDb boards. Holy cow, it's completely infested with trolls and haters. Only decent places to chat about The Avengers is this board and perhaps Box Office Theory.

I finally saw it this morning and by the crowd at my theater I'm not surprised The Avengers shattered the record. It looked like a midnight showing with lines extending outside on a Sunday morning/afternoon.

Ha! How pedantic. I loved the avengers. And you can do better than "nolanite". Creativity is a good thing. Like I said in my other post, I came here to praise the movie only to be met with how horrible Nolan and his films are, just like every other time I've visited here. Funny that in a weekend where it's all about the avengers most of you can't get off Nolan's ********. Wonder why that is?

I don't think I'll ever go there...I just don't understand why they feel so threatened.:woot:

More likely Buffy is getting the boost, Joss is 'The Buffy Guy'. Not to mention Incredible Hulk, Thor and Cap getting a huge influx of new buyers.

Tell me about it. I wanted to see the thing in IMAX today, and my nearest IMAX is ALL SOLD OUT TILL FRICKING WEDNESDAY! What in the hell? I have never seen anything like this, since maybe ET back in the 80's. And I want to see this before that Dark Shadows takes over. Well, Wednesday night, I'll get to see it, and then next weekend, 2D here I come.

Calm down, son. Life's good.
Haven't you heard the new? Avenger just made over 200M.:woot:

To be fair, there is plenty of unprovoked Nolan bashing in this thread. It isn't just here though. There seems to be this need to elevate The Avengers by complaining about TDK.

It is completely silly how petty both sides are being. Thankfully, I got this out of my system for the most par in 2006.

While there is almost equal film bashing on both sides, I only see FAN bashing from one side.

And that's great. I'm glad it's doing well it deserves it. Never said otherwise. Had a great time at this movie.

By the way, its a public holiday in the UK this weekend and its pretty cold so looks like a good day for the cinema. Its going to be Avengers and Pirates! Adventures with Scientists that are going to get the boost from that.

Edit: too late lol

Well that is because Nolanites sounds way better then Whedonheads. :o
