The Avengers The Avengers Box-Office Prediction Thread - Part 6

So $600M in 2 months? Not bad, not bad at all. I guess we CAN add up the domestic hauls of all the other MCU movies to get the Avengers box office after all!

No Avengers will top out when it gets to Iron Man levels. Apparently that is the max. Also the film will just be an IM & Amazing friends deal with him leading the team.

We need the film to have held well today to maintain consecutive days with at least $1m daily total. It's at 47 days straight now. If it can hit 48 then it'll survive the weekend and get over 50. It has the record now regardless.

LOL!

It's even funnier when you know that there are fanboys who actually thinks like that:oldrazz:

I think I heard this verbatin on certain other forums (that will remain nameless) in the months leading up to the premiere. From mods and posters alike.

Let me tell you, it was so much fun being called "idiot" and "delusional" and "pathetic fanboy" for suggesting TA might earn 700 million worldwide if the reviews and wom were good. And it was a blast being sneered and laughed at for not agreeing with the herd that TA was basically an unofficial sequel to IM3 and would have very little impact compared to a certain other summer movie. Good times.

Hell...that still happens HERE! just check the Avengers review thread once in a while...

I guess it's because they can't use the 'it'll flop!'rant.. now its: 'tHe AvENgERs HaZ No PlOtZ, ItZ No DeEP MoVIe, Iz HaZ toO MaNy JoKeZ LuLZ!!111!!! oh ANd LoKi SuX!! LuuUULz!!!111!!

I am curious to see how big an opening Iron Man 3 will have. I am sure it will break 150 million OW. The General Public are hungry for anything Avengers at this point. No update today, but TA should be around 590-591 today.

I voted for $1 billion, but predicted $1.1B in the first part of this thread. (Big difference, hey?)

How I and others were mocked by the doomsayers (and one in particular) for months, told we were looking at The Avengers prospects like delusional fanboys (even if female). "You people should be happy with $700 million! That's more than Iron Man 2!" "It isn't an event film and doesn't have any appeal for the GA." "With no big stars and a bunch of second and third-rate heroes, it won't take off." Some days I rolled my eyes so many times reading this thread I thought they were going to get stuck back in my head.

With The Avengers sitting at $1.4 billion worldwide and just shy of $600 million domestic, I feel thoroughly vindicated. Unsurprisingly, the low-ballers are long gone.

Here's something for y:

and here's something y really like: :wow:

PFFT!! No director for the sequel yet, it still hasn't crossed the $600 million mark, and it's not even touching Titanic????

IT'S A FLOPPPPPPPPPPP!!

:oldrazz:

I still can't believe how I even underestimated this movie. So proud that Joss Whedon is second to James Cameron in domestic box office. What a sweet victory after getting screwed over and over again by the industry.

I think I know what you are talking about. Quite a few people there were very delusional haters. They had to close the thread.

Thing is, I'm more than happy myself when comic movies of all types do well and help the genre more acceptable to the mainstream. We are the ultimate winners.

The sad thing is, there are still fanboys that actually uses those excuses:oldrazz:

And about Wheddon...i wonder how he's dealing with all this. Like you said, after being screwed so many times, suddenly his movie is breaking all records known to man! it's alot to take in.

Yeah... i visited that place a couple of times. It's a strange, strange place.

It's really distubing to see the effect of that one movie on certain fanboys...

Personally, i think it's got to do with validation for their comic reading hobby.

Err what?
U saying it's going to playing in cinemas for another 3 months? LOL

It won't be to this level obviously but it will be showing in the discount theatres up to when the DVD comes out

You guys know this will be inevitably be rereleased at some point?

I remember before I join this site,a lot of people were saying it's goin' to be 'IM & Amazing friends' Even though Joss & Kevin were saying that everyone will shine in the movie.
:whatever:

Think I'm going to see the movie again today. Its still playing alot here in Charlotte

Thanks for posting those links.

The writer of the Independent post pointed out how comic book films (and genre films in general) have come to dominate the global box office over the last 20 years. As much as critics decry their ubiquity, it's obvious that the public enjoys CBMs and studios are committed to meeting the demand for them. These trends are cyclical, however, with interest in various genres waxing and waning over the decades. The comic book genre may one day go the way of the western, as some critics dearly wish. Or they could continue to be popular, as romantic comedies have done since at least the 1930s.

The Avengers clothing post from Tumbr is one I had seen before. Someone tweeted Clark Gregg an Agent Coulson outfit selection - women's clothes, of course. Another very creative fan designed dresses using themes that matched all of the characters. (Nick Fury's is a little black dress with one strap that makes half the bodice look like an eye-patch.) It was creativity and dedication like that which led me to conclude that there was a lot more enthusiasm and interest for The Avengers than some people thought.

It seems that the numbers from yesterday are still not available. Wonder if this is due to the heat wave.

The last game (possibly) of the NBA Finals is tonight though... BO.com users are predicting that could effect TA and saying possibly $900K for Thursday.

Btw, Wednesdays numbers are projected between $1 - $1.1 million.

Yeah the numbers finally came in from boxofficemojo.
TA made $1,101,648 yesterday
it is currently showing in 2,582 theatres
for a total of

$590,193,264

less than 10 million to go until 600!!!

Should reach 600 in 6-8 days from now.

$1,423, 293, 264 worldwide according to BOM - I'm ecstatic at how well this movie has been received and continually staggered by how much money it's making.

It's so close now!!

Hoping for another good hold this weekend. $600m day will be cause for a big celebration I believe!

It will either be June 28th (next Thursday) or 29th (next Friday) as the day The Avengers hits $600 million.

It will do close to $1 million tomorrow, have a 3-day weekend total of $5+ million. And get $3+ million before next Friday, June 29th.

I can exclusively confirm that The Dark Knight Rises won't make anywhere near as much as The Avengers did.
