The Avengers The Avengers Box-Office Prediction Thread - Part 7

Well, apparently Disney is quietly re-expanding the theater count for The Avengers for this upcoming Friday (probably a modest 1,500-2,400 theaters). I guess they're trying to get a few more people to come and see the film before the DVD/Blu-ray hits September 25th.

Disney and Sony did that last year with quietly re-releasing Cars 2 and Bad Teacher on the same weekend to drum up more awareness.

so TA should reach 620 million :woot:

It's coming back for a return engagement here, too. The Avengers will be back at the biggest and best regional theater for the Memorial Day weekend. I plan to see it one last time, which will be my ninth. Seeing it on Blu-Ray is fine, but I love the experience of watching a film I love on the big screen.

I think I'll go stop by too see Avengers since there are no good movies out right now

Maybe it will make enough to take down Titanic for the #2 domestic spot in box office revenue! :word:

Not in one weekend. I'm predicting a 3 million weekend.

It's great to see Marvel/Disney promoting the return engagement in TV ads. They really did everything right in marketing The Avengers.

Yeah they did. It's just amazing to ME that the movie was in theaters THIS long HERE.
I mean even with 24 total screen owned by Malco superhero flicks just don't stay in the area for long.

so how much do you think it can make this labor day weekend I guess it can make around 1 mil.

Yeah, good to see it back in theaters for another weekend. It's too bad they couldn't get a couple of 3D IMAX screens, but it's good to see it back none the less.

I think it will do pretty well ths weekend, becase there ain't jack else to see this weekend.

Great, I really am the only person here to have seen "Hope Springs." :(

Did you and the rest of the theatre make sure to remove your dentures so as to not get those kernels stuck in your gumline?

Lawless will be getting my money first this weekend...but I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze in another Avengers viewing after that. I do wish it were IMAX again, though.

I'm sure if they get a decent amount of money this second time around, the movie will stay there for another week or weekend.

They are really milking this movie with this "re-release".

As well they should. The more money Disney makes on The Avengers, the more they will be willing to invest in other Marvel properties. It's a win/win/win for the studio, the creative team and the fans.

It's Disney. The people bringing back Finding Nemo in 3D this month. And the rest of their Pixar/Disney stable down the line.

From a certain website that will remain nameless:

It's official! Joss Whedon & Marvel Studios' global phenomenon has passed the $1.5 billion mark at the worldwide box office (via BoxOffice.com). The film opened in Japan a couple of weeks ago, which helped its gross, but Disney have also put it in 1700+ theatres this Labor Day weekend in North America. The 4-day domestic estimate for The Avengers this weekend is $2.2 million, and the domestic gross is now $620.1 million.

New worldwide total for MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS: $1,501,800,000.

Marvel's The Avengers is the highest-grossing film of the year so far, and it's the third biggest film of all time, only behind Avatar and Titanic.

It looks like Disney's strategy of re-release worked perfectly! It will probably end with 1,503,0000 or so.

Hell yes! So it's time for the dance of joy and honor
