lol With the movie still being in some theaters it makes me wonder if it just might do that lol

I just found out that a theater near here is playing The Avengers four times a day. It's not a dollar theater -- it's a four-dollar theater. Anyway, I'm planning to put a little more cash into the till soon. I can't wait for the DVD to drop -- I'm like a junkie jonesing for a fix.

The Avengers premiered in Japan to terrific numbers. On its opening day it made 285 million yen/$3.6 million USD. The fact that the movie was shrewdly released during the Obon holiday period has definitely helped it at the box office. Some prognosticators at the boxoffice.com forums think it will hit $15 million USD by the end of the weekend, and maybe $40 million total. If that holds true, $1.5 billion WW is definitely within reach.

Yeah, I saw it yesterday at 1:30 there were 3 people including myself at this one for 7 bucks. This theater has four showings as well.
Heh the guys selling the tickets was saying the same thing. He's seen it 4 times yet can't wait to sit at home drooling over the DVD lol

That's what other people with knowledge of the Japanese box office have guestimated. From what I have read, this is a very good number for that market and the film should end its run at $45 - $50M.


The Avengers did very well in China, too. It made $91.42 million, placing it third for the year so far behind Titanic ($155M) and MI4 ($107M). So much for the people who used to come here to predict that TA would tank in Japan & China. A heaping helping of crow would be in store for them, if they hadn't already cleared off.

I have all the movie tickets since... I think 1998. I missed the tickets of maybe 10% of the movies I've seen. For example, I know I've seen War of the Worlds, but I don't have that ticket, and I can't remember why.

I tried doing that, collecting my movie tickets, probably since The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of 1990, first movie I saw more than once, but over time, the print on the ticket faded away, so I gave up on it. Shame, I had all of my 10 showings of Independence Day too.

Nothing certain, but I know people expressed their opinion about re-releasing Avengers, director's cut, in the theater, knowing that a good 30 to 45 minutes was cut. I would be all for that myself, most of the things cut were supposed to be about Captain America, and he ended up being my favorite Avenger.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that was just a promotional shot never intended to be in the movie.

No way Avengers 2 makes more than the first one..... it'll most likely crack a billion but I think 1.5 is the most any MS film is going to make.
But I'd love to be wrong
