I'm ready to let it go at this point. From the moment I knew that Zack Snyder would be the only director in history to get a "first crack" at doing a Bats/Supes film, my hopes for this movie never really got too high. And to me, the novelty factor is like the biggest appeal in even putting those characters together. You want to feel like these two worlds are colliding, but with the tone of Man of Steel was and knowing Snyder's affinity for Dark Knight Returns, it just always felt like they were trying to cram Superman into Batman's world. Clearly that was the intention, Snyder wanted them to feel like they organically exist in the same world, he's said as much. And he did achieve that. But to me the biggest sin of this movie is only paying lip service to the whole "black and blue, day vs. night" thing.
That's the movie that most people probably would've liked, if they'd delivered it. Maybe it wouldn't have been a great movie, but it might've been more enjoyable one that felt truer to the more classic versions of the characters. It was just way too early in the DCEU for a movie like BvS, IMO. Maybe the other films will give it some context over time, but for now it's just hard for me to like it, even though I don't hate it and enjoyed aspects of it.
Onto greener pastures for now. I'm getting legit excited for Civil War and Suicide Squad.
