I still don't think I've ever used the ignore function in all my time here. Came close with 'zryson', though.
That fella was an interesting poster, I wish I met him on CBR forums before seeing him coming here.

At first I was disappointed to hear they cut a lot of Leto's scenes

But after seeing him for the short amount of time we did, I would understand if they cut all of his scenes

Watching other people practically pull their hair out over zryson's act is one of the highlights of my time here on the hype.

He works very hard at his craft and you can tell.

"Currently, per ComScore’s PostTrak, Suicide Squad has a 73% total positive score, which is the same that BvS slotted. As we mentioned earlier, the David Ayer movie is bringing in more females than BvS, 42% to 31%. Also per PostTrak, the combination of African American and Hispanic moviegoers made up a huge 41% of the audience with both audiences giving the film a whopping 81% positive score. The entire Suicide Squad cast was a major reason (at 34%) why people went to see the film and as proof that Smith is still a massive summertime draw, 23% went because of him and 21% were compelled by the appearance of the Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Without question, even though Suicide Squad is an ensemble movie, it will also rank as Will Smith’s best domestic weekend opening of his career, outflanking 2007’s I Am Legend ($77M). Robbie’s previous weekend high at the B.O. was The Legend of Tarzan at $38.5M. Thirty-two percent also told PostTrak that they came out for Suicide Squad because it’s part of a franchise they love. And if you’re wondering about how those awful reviews factored into moviegoers’ decision to watch Suicide Squad, well, they’re having very little impact: only 4% said they were influenced by reviews to watch this latest DC feature adaptation."

So Leto's Joker isn't one of the movie's main attractions for the viewers... :o

Not gonna stop the fanatics from blaming dem critics.

Suicide Squad was a big fat meh. Moments of fun lost in a largely forgettable movie. Deadshot, Harley (not her relationship with Joker though as they butchered it) and Amanda Waller are the only reasons to watch it.

Joker....oh man they butchered my beloved Joker. He was reduced to a pitiful love sick puppy. How can the Joker be in a movie and not get any memorable or menacing moments? How does that happen? Only the DCEU could manage that. I could even tolerate him being utterly pointless to the story if what we did see of him was memorable and good, regardless of relevance to the story. But no.

A good friend of mine is a huge Green Goblin fan, and he said to me afterward now you know how I felt 2 years ago when Sony butchered the Goblin story in TASM 2. It was bad enough seeing Batman, my fav hero, get crap characterization a few months ago. But now my all time fav villain.

The irony is SS is a better movie than BvS, despite the sloppy story, editing, terrible Joker, and largely forgettable characters.

I honestly liked Zryson more than most of the regulars on the MOS/BvS boards.

I honestly couldn't tell he was a troll because he hung out on the DCEU forums.

I know we are entitled to different opinions, but I have to disagree with that. I hated Batman v Superman. It is without a doubt one of the worst superhero movies of all time. Both are incoherent messes that move with bizarre paces. But while Suicide Squad moves like we watched a long montage and then jump to the third act for the next 90 minutes, BvS is as dull as dishwater. Additionally, BvS offers ruinous interpretations of Batman, Superman, and Lex Luthor.

While the Joker is a disappointment in Suicide Squad, he could be easily improved upon in later films. He is not dead on arrival like Luthor. And characters like Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller are pretty perfect to me.

I think I will be in the minority with Suicide Squad. But I will say that at the very least there are scenes that entertain and characters who are fun to spend time with. Batman v Superman is Ayn Rand-loving crap from a filmmaker who fundamentally neither understands the world he is trying to build nor story structure and basic filmic storytelling staples like pacing or just freaking establishing shots.

Batman v Superman left me angry. Suicide Squad at most will be a forgettable disappointment to many, I suspect.

Yes, I agree with this. Suicide Squad was forgettable fluff, but it wasn't offensively awful like BvS was.

Just got out of Suicide Squad and at the moment I'm a little meh on it. Has its fun moments and i liked Deadshot, Harley and Waller but couldn't give a damn about anyone else, thought the film needed a little more room to breathe for it's characters, and thought some of the edit choices were odd, and the villain plot was just lame. We've seen that plot and visual too many darn times the past few years & would have rather gotten something like assault on arkham. Also with joker, they committed a cardinal sin and made him a non-factor. Joker? A non-factor? Come on. Also even with a little bit of screentime u can make an impression and Jared didn't. He felt more like a druggie than insane, and they really neutered him in this when it comes to Harley. The Joker i know would have just left her where she was at and back peddle when confronted about it. They really need to figure something out, because even when I'm having fun I'm not happy so far with the DCEU.

I'd like to add that the more i see Affleck playing this character, the more i miss Bale. My fanboy love for Christian Bale in that role of Bruce Wayne gets bigger with each passing year. It's just so dynamic, entertaining, warm, cold, all of it.

Same here. I've seen quite a few polls ranking the best Batman and Affleck has been #1 in most all of them. I'm like... really?

Bale really brought a wide range of emotions. Ben is.....Ben.

Yep, Ben is just Ben.

Update on deleted scenes.

In early cuts, the movie's opening detailed June Moon's posession by Enchantress in real tome. Reshoots reshuffled the scene to be later in the movie in flashback form in favour of a new opening centered on Deadshot."

"Deadshot in the prison cell, watching the rain fall and thinking about his daughter."

"El Diablo observing the flame of a lit match, before putting it out due to his vow to no longer use his powers."

"El Diablo being escorted to a training center by being placed in a tube that fills with water to quel his flames, and then unceremoniously dropped onto the ground."

"Early interviews showed Captain Boomerang's racism and sexism, but the movie is light on examples of such behaviour, which have apparently been deleted. Most of them were reportedly directed at Katana, to whom Boomerang is attracted to."

"Early reports indicated more backstory for Killer Croc, revealing that he entire life as a social outcast due to his physical appearancr and has convinced himself that he is beautiful in his own way. Croc crossed paths with Batman while working as muscle-for-hire for numerous Gotham's crime bosses, while secretly planning to take over one day. There were also scenes displaying his affinity for making sculptures out of discarded materials. Aside from jokes about Croc viewing himself as 'beautiful,' one of these were retained in the final cut."

"Also deleted was a scene where he becomes sick at the helicopter escort to Midway City, throws up half-digested pieces of goat, and then eats them again, disgusting the nearby Navy Seals."

"Early cuts reportedly included a passing reference to Slipknot being serial rapist, likely to further paint him as unsympathetic to the audience ahead of his own death."

"More scenes of Rick Flag and June Moon's romantic relationship, including him reading the files of the Suicide Squad recruits after Waller delivers them to him."

"Another scene where Flag and Moon are out on a date."

"Extended scene of Joker interrogating Captain Griggs, including the line, "I can't wait to show you my toys," which was in every trailer, but was removed from the movie."

"Joker and his men escaping after shooting up a restaurant. Harley, who is already affiliated with the Joker, follows them on a motorcycle and intercepts their car. Joker bangs his head against the glass in frustration."

"Joker and Harley then get into a fight, which ends with Harley pointing a gun at Joker's head. Joker sweet-talks Harley into lowering the gun, charming her, then backhands her across the face. Afterwards he sweet-talks her again and they kiss."

"Extended Ace Chemicals scene where Harley jumps into the chemicals. More bits of dialogue from Joker."

"Extended Batmobile chase scene with more interaction between Joker and Harley. One of the examples, presented in all the trailers, is the Joker punching the roof of his car."

"Harley using her baseball bat as a mock gun to play shoot at invisible foes."

"Extended scene of Joker breaking into the nanobomb manufacture facility to arrange for Harley's neck-bomb to be disabled."

"More interactions between Harley and Boomerang. Early cuts apparently included her really disliking him despite growing affectionate to all the other members of the squad."

"Extended bar scene with Harley taking everyone's orders. Deadshot calls for a shot, Katana wants whiskey, Croc and Boomerang settle for beer, Harley asks Diablo wants and he prefers water which she jokes, "is a good idea." The scene was featured in the trailers, but in the movie it cuts directly to Deadshot's speech about them all almost pulling the mission off."

"Removed several scenes with the Joker to repaint his relationship with Harley as more loving rather than abusive."

"Joker and Harley get into an argument after he rescues her in the hijacked helicopter. In early cuts he reportedly pushes her out to kill her, then the helicopter gets shot down. This was apparently reworked into the helicopter getting shot down first and Joker pushing her out to save her."

"Joker returns during the final battle in the subway station, face half-burnt from the helicopter crash, which apparently leads to a brief altercation with the Squad. He calls for Harley to escape with him but she refuses for once in order to help her friends, and the Joker escapes after throwing a live grenade at the group to cover his own escape."

Don't worry, the studio will release a 3 hour R rated cut on Blu-ray in 4 months.

Suicide Squad was a big disappointment. I don't think I'll ever watch it again.

I'm getting more annoyed the more I think about it. You can use the word fun all you want and I certainly won't argue against that, but it is just not a well made movie. I just couldn't care about anything going on the screen. I mean what the heck was up with that mission? Why are all these flashbacks so darn rushed. Why should I care about any of these people. I don't even think the action was all that great either, and boy was that villain stupid. Pretty Disappointed at the moment. Watching the comic con trailer from last year I thought we could get a dark, psychological, intense, and character driven film. Instead we got a movie that felt like it half wanted to be guardians and half wanted to be Deadpool. I'm just so ugh right now.

I loved BvS. I hate SS. You guys know that I like to give everything a fair go, and will give my honest thoughts. But this movie was simplistic to the extreme. And boring. For a movie of villains it was so safe and predictable. Such a kick in the guts, especially with how they handled the Joker. :csad:

I haven't thought I'd like this movie for a while now, but even after all those reviews, I thought I'd like it more than I did. :csad:

Personally I didn't start to get nervous until I saw you disliked it Annefan. I don't write much on here but I read a lot, and even though I don't like BvS very much I respect your opinion on it. So that's when my "Oh crap" feelings started. I still believe in checking things out yourself with your mind clear though, It just didn't work. Fun or not, if the filmmaking stinks, I'm mentioning it. I have fun watching Batman and Robin too, and that doesn't change the fact that it was a steaming pile of crap. This isn't B&R bad, but it isn't as good as it should have been either.

Sure.

Getting a bit dramatic about it now, AnneFan. :crso:
Nope. That's how I feel. I'll always bash the critics and fiercely defend BvS. But I'm singing from their hymn book this time.

I'm a big fan of MOS and BvS Ultimate Edition.

Suicide Squad is a mess. Barely a movie at all. More like a two-hour trailer.

After being disappointed with both MOS and BvS as well as seeing all the negative reviews for SS. I'll pass on seeing SS in theaters. And will wait to rent the dvd at my local library. In fact I'm just going to rent the dvds for all the upcoming DCEU movies instead checking them out in theaters. I just can't get excited or optimistic enough about the DCEU. WB has really mismanaged this brand.

Wow, I thought you'd love it AnneFan :sly:

Anyway, I actually liked the film more than most of the regulars here, it seems. While the movie is nothing to write home about in terms of story or visuals, I enjoyed the characters (except for the Joker) so it was a fun time at the movies for me. Nothing too special, but the actors sell it so well. I'm really curious about the inevitable extended version of the film.

I will say that the most annoying thing about the movie was the use of music. Sometimes it worked, others it just didn't. The first act of the movie is basically a looong music video. But overall, I enjoyed the film.

Yeah, I hated the soundtrack, outside of a couple of songs that I think fit well enough.
